Chapter 16 Despicable and Shameless
The atmosphere in the room got a little tense.

Finally, it was Nazeem who stood up. "Doctor Cook, before the young man left, he said these silver needles absolutely can't be removed. Should we wait for him to come back before we do anything? After all, my grandfather's health is what mattered the most. It's better to be careful—"

Morgan slammed his medical kit shut and said coldly, "If you think that quack is better than the experts at the Edren Hospital, don't ask me to come over. My time is extremely valuable. I would not have bothered coming if it had not been for my friendship with Mister Wesley."

Director Zander adjusted his glasses and sneered. "Doctor Cook is the chief medical officer at Royal Sealift Group. He had just returned to the group and immediately rushed over here after forming a team of experts. I didn't expect that you would compare that quack to Doctor Cook. That's ridiculous."

"Director Zander, Doctor Cook, you've misunderstood. That's not what my brother meant. We don't dare to be careless when it concerns our grandfather's health." Lance quickly signaled her brother. "Nazeem, let's remove the needles. I think they're quite useless, and they are in the way for Doctor Cook to administer his treatments."

"You're right. Doctor Cook is only second to the most outstanding doctor in our country, and he's the face of Edren County's medical field. We don't even know where that young man came from…" Nazeem gave it thought. He was still hesitant, but he had no choice but to agree.

After all, it was not good to offend Doctor Cook.

The Wesleys were one of the four prominent wealthy families in Edren County, and they had been around for a long time. However, Doctor Cook's livelihood did not depend on them at all.

Doctors had always been a highly respectable profession, especially for a doctor like Morgan, who had made a name for himself and was highly praised by his peers. Nobody would be foolish enough to offend him.

The wealthy people were not lacking in money, reputation, and power. The only thing they lacked was longevity.

Nobody could escape the circle of life. Be it an ordinary person who had nothing or a big shot with almighty power, nobody could guarantee that they would not fall sick. When they were terminally ill, legendary doctors and giants in the field would then be the determinants to save them from the hands of the Grim Reaper.

"Hmph! Have you thought about it? If poking a few silver needles could treat medical conditions, save lives, and extend the human lifespan by a few years, then what's the use of medical professors like us who studied abroad for a few decades?" Director Zander raised his chin rather arrogantly. "Besides, Doctor Cook is trained in both modern and ancient techniques. There's probably nobody in the entire Edren County who could be more skilled than Doctor Cook."

Everybody in the room looked down and had nothing to say.

Morgan looked slightly happier. He could not help but laugh after he turned to look at the placements of those silver needles on Elrich's body.

The simple placement of the needles was enough to show the person who put them there was reckless and knew nothing of the technique.

While they were chatting and joking, Director Zander took off all the silver needles on Elrich's body.

Just as he opened the medical kit, preparing to hand the tool to Doctor Cook, the machine monitoring Elrich's heart rate suddenly released a piercing alarm.

The red line showed that Elrich's life was hanging by a thread. What was more frightening was that Elrich started to bleed from his ears, nose, eyes, and mouth.

"What's going on?"

Both Director Zander and Morgan were confused.

"Director Zander, Doctor Cook, what's happening to my grandfather?" Lance's face was drained of all colors.

Nazeem said in a frosty tone, "That young man said not to remove those needles, but you wouldn't listen, and you insisted on doing it your way. You better hurry up and think of a solution, Director Zander."

Director Zander's forehead was breaking out in cold sweat. He secretly took a few steps back, then stubbornly said while gritting his teeth, "That's ridiculous. That has nothing to do with pulling the silver needles out. Don't make false accusations. Doctor Cook can testify that this has nothing to do with me."

Morgan nodded. "I've been practicing medicine for so many years, and I've never heard pulling out the needles could cause problems. This is not Director Zander's fault."

The Wesleys' faces paled.

That son of a bitch had caused trouble, yet he did not wish to be held responsible.

Tears were streaming down Lance's face. "Director Zander, Doctor Cook, no matter who's responsible, you should at least help my grandfather. Can't you see he's dying?"

Morgan frowned. He had been treating patients for years, but he had never seen a situation like that before, so he was at his wit's end.

Director Zander was even more clueless about what to do. A strong reaction like that was beyond his knowledge, so he had no way to handle the situation. "If I were to touch him now, you would blame me if he dies later, wouldn't you? I can't bear such a responsibility."

"You—" Lance could not believe a doctor would say such a thing.

In a fit of rage, Nazeem grabbed Director Zander's collar. "Zander, if my grandfather dies today, I'll do all I can to bury you with him."

Director Zander was so frightened that his knees gave way. As one of the four prominent families, making him disappear without a trace was a piece of cake to the Wesleys. He did not think that Nazeem was joking.

Right at that moment, the door creaked as it opened, and in came Ashton.

With the room in shambles and Elrich on the bed, having a spasm all over, Ashton asked solemnly, "Didn't I say not to remove the silver needles?"

He quickly came to the bed and used both hands to apply pressure on six different spots on Elrich's body.

Fortunately, the bleeding stopped, and Elrich's condition stabilized very quickly.

Lance said, "You're finally back! You have to save my grandfather!"

Ashton glanced at her and scolded, "This is bullshit! Who removed all these needles? Do my words mean nothing to you?"

Everybody in the room looked at Director Zander and Morgan, so Ashton saw them. Likewise, they saw Ashton too.

"You?" Both of them said in unison.

"It's you again, you son of a bitch." Morgan gritted his teeth as he was filled with hatred.

At that moment, Director Zander grabbed Ashton's collar like he had gone crazy. Gritting his teeth, he said, "You're the asshole who put the needles in him, aren't you? Do you know your mistake almost caused Elrich to bleed to death? You have to bear the responsibility for everything today, you quack!"
