At the High Tower.

On a certain floor, there were people who were putting electric plugs into the ports built in their bodies, which helped them directly charge and also transfer data.

On another floor, there were some who were playing games with holograms that felt real, thanks to the advanced tech of augmented reality belonging to the Feclay company.

But almost every floor had highly robotic machinery which provided extreme comfort to everybody staying inside the tower. From supplying drugs and alcohol to even stripping the clothes of the strippers or being a dealer of cards and what not, all kinds of services were provided by the machines or the augmen.

Augmen were the augmented humans whose strength and ability had been enhanced on different levels compared to normal humans.

However, hiring augmen was costly, so only the millionaires could afford this.

The customers of High Tower had no idea where they were as they would be brought here in an unconscious state, and they would be t

At the Mother Council building.More than 200 members gathered at around 3 o’clock just to talk about Minerva’s situation.None of them knew that Minerva was no longer in Rose Park but got kidnapped by Borg instead. So, all the women couldn’t sit still in their seats as they were fuming at Denver and Green Fang.“How dare that nobody who calls himself Don Denver dare imprison one of ours in the Nameless Zone which they are calling theirs now?” one woman barked.“Yeah, they’re calling it Rose Park. It has high wooden walls blocking all routes by land,” another woman said. “We must break them as soon as possible, President.”“Oh, I intend to do that,” Natalia assured them. “But from the latest update we got, there seems to be a big commotion going inside Rose Park. Our people who went there were not able to get past the wall as the vines were denying their entrance. So, we don’t know what exactly is happening inside that park now.”“Can we just send some drones to fly over that zone?” on

Many miles deep inside the Whispering Stone Caves.Catherine was lying on the bloody, greasy ground, covered in injuries everywhere, not lethal but burdensome nonetheless. There were dead bodies of monsters down the tunnel, all of which were defeated by Catherine. She was taking quick, deep breaths.“I don’t think I can go on like this anymore,” she felt as if she was high on fever. “I feel weak. I can’t even make a fist properly. I think I overexerted myself.”“It’s not just that,” Denver sat down and helped her sit up. He gently massaged her shoulders from behind, which made her slowly feel better. “Using aura in general will increase the temperature of our body. But when our body’s temperature rises past a certain level, then our red blood cells will start dying.”Catherine was startled. “I-Is that why we feel weak when we have fever?”“Mm,” Denver nodded.“Then isn’t it bad to use aura if it kills red blood cells?” Catherine couldn’t help but ask.“No, as the red blood cells are d

Catherine was returning to where Denver was.It was pretty dark all around, but her eyes were able to decently see the surroundings. “Making one’s eyes more receptive to light makes it possible to see even in a tunnel like this. This must be how cats feel in the dark.”She felt both thrilled and excited.“It would be nice if Mom and Sis can experience this for themselves,” she thought, but then her smile subsided. “No, that’s not possible anymore. I have to forget about them.”They hadn’t done much for her in the last few years, so Catherine didn’t think it would be hard for her to forget her mother and sister.Catherine stopped at a four-way junction and looked to her right.A long-legged lizard was watching her from a distance while sticking to the rooftop of that tunnel. It had multiple arrows stuck to its back.Catherine clenched her fists. She wanted to fight, but she remembered Denver’s words: You are strong, but avoid fighting when you can, and that will make you stronger.“He

The explosion destroyed the tunnel walls and collapsed the ceiling in that locality.Denver just stood there in a bit of shock because Catherine was completely unhurt because she was able to move the very explosion away from her.Denver smiled with relief as he rushed over. “How did you do that?” he didn’t know she could do such a thing. “You tossed the explosion away as if it was a pillow or a stone.”“I did it reflexively,” Catherine also looked surprised with what she had done. “But did that lizard really try to kill me?”“Yeah. I think it was being controlled by somebody,” Denver frowned as he looked at the bluish black flames of the explosion that were melting the rocks. “Strange… This explosion looks abnormal. The smell is also not normal.”He approached the explosion, despite Catherine telling him not to do it.Denver covered himself with a lightning cloak and stopped by the fire inside the ongoing flames. He was a glowing crystal-like object on the ground. He picked it up, eve

On the surface.Sheryl unleashed thousands of branches at her opponent who was still high in the sky, sitting on the aural chariot. The royal knight shot an aural arrow which cloned itself into thousands more and destroyed all the branches alike and rained down upon the land, destroyed the wooden houses and land alike, leaving no traces behind. The ground shook for miles all around as if an earthquake was upon it.Sheryl frowned as only the tower she stood on was still standing because of her. All the buildings around her were turned to mere rubble.“As expected, he’s a monster,” Sheryl smirked. “But I’m not going to be easy for you to defeat. I may not have my Nightlaser with me, but I have a stronger ability now. With every fight, I’m only going to get stronger.”“I get that you’re excited about fighting me,” the royal knight’s voice echoed all around. “I love hunting, too, but my purpose of visiting now is to talk to Denver Nighthawk.”“Why?” Sheryl asked. “What do you want from hi

“He’s on a honeymoon,” Sheryl cheekily said. “So you should leave and come back some other time, Mr. Advanced Robot.”The royal knight very much knew that she was trying to provoke him, and he was up for it.“I don’t go back with my mission unfinished,” the aural sword in his hand vanished into thin air and a giant whitish sword appeared in midair behind him. “I go back when I’m done with what I set out for.”Sheryl frowned. “Is that the mind sword?”The energy it gave off was different compared to just an aural attack.“You can attack with it without affecting the wind or other natural elements, or so I heard,” Sheryl was feeling goosebumps. “All that must have been fabrication, right?”“Have a taste of it yourself,” he said. The whitish sword darted at Sheryl at a speed that didn’t even let her blink once. There was no noise made by this sword, not a whoosh of the wind or a swish of her dress. It came ever so silently with increasing velocity as if it locked onto the target.Sheryl

“You’re called the peacemaker and many things,” Sheryl responded, trying to dodge the question as she wanted to avoid fighting Philip as it wouldn’t benefit her or Denver at all. “Don’t you know that the Yakuza have come to the shore? Killer King himself has come with one of the mainline young masters, so I think you should be looking into that instead.”“I have information that the penal hall has already deployed forces to handle the Yakuza,” Philip replied, crunching on the apple along with its seeds. “So, why don’t you answer my question first? Nameless Zone or Rose Park? Which one is it?”Sheryl frowned a little. As far as information was concerned, Philip was unmatched. He had access to almost everything in the world. He knew things that even the organizations like the CIA or Mossad didn’t have access to.Trying to trick such a guy would be highly impossible, Sheryl thought.“You already know the answer,” Sheryl said. “So why are you still asking?”“My master has to hear it from

A giant red spider and a black scorpion were viciously attacking each other, despite both of them suffering injuries in the process.Neither of them looked like they were going to back away from the fight.Catherine and Denver were watching the fight from the side like an audience watching a wrestling match.“I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad,” Denver said.Catherine chuckled. She used a broken bone to pull her hair back and tie her bangs into a ponytail. The spider and the scorpion attacked them, but Catherine used her ability to forcibly make the beasts attack each other.Since then, the beasts forgot about the humans and focused on killing the other beast first.“Hehe,” Catherine rubbed her nose with pride, “one spoiled person can spoil a thousand more.” Denver pulled the bone, making her ponytail slowly come off.Catherine’s lips bloomed into a smile as she wondered if he liked her bangs hairstyle. “Won’t you let me have another hairstyle?”Denver shook his head like a chi

“Break the wall,” Weber ordered.“But, Captain, there’s a gate over there,” one of the members pointed out.“Fools, we’re not entering this place as guests,” Weber shouted. “I’m going in first, so follow after me.” He clenched his fist and leaped forth. “Monster Smash!”The thick wooden wall got ripped in the middle, and the top half flew into the sky in that locality, opening up a path for others to enter.Seeing Weber’s overwhelming power, the people cried and spread out in different directions.“Even ants are more courageous than these idiots,” Weber cracked his knuckles. “Isn’t there a single brave soul in this place? Did they all die fighting the demented beasts yesterday?”Just then, a ten-year-old boy stood in Weber’s path, holding a mere tree branch.“Ho, are you planning on fighting me with that puny little thing, brat?” Weber amusedly said.“I’m going to avenge my friends!” he rushed forth with no fear or anxiousness in his eyes.“Fine. A few minutes before dawn.“Show yourself, Denver! And bring Minerva out!” an old woman’s voice penetrated through people’s eardrums, forcing them to shut their ears. The people in Rose Park looked up at the sky. There was a big hawk flying above, flapping its wings but keeping its head absolutely still.A giant hologram of Natalie was standing on top of the hawk.“The Pharma Squad is on its way here,” Natalia added. “You better bring Minerva out before it’s too late for you.”On the top floor of Rose Tower.Catherine looked at Sheryl. “What’s a Pharma Squad? Do they deal with medicine?”“And poison,” Sheryl said. “They are bad news. They can spray gas and make it linger in this place, which will make this area uninhabitable.”“I can use my ability to send that gas away before it fills this region,” Catherine said.“Can you do that for this entire Rose Park?” Sheryl asked quickly.Catherine slowly shook her head. “No, I don’t think I can pull it off on such a scale just yet.”“How abo

The next morning.Denver arrived at the Rose Tower, which Sheryl had to rebuild because it suffered damage due to her skirmish with Novick.Catherine sat in the seat Sheryl had prepared for Denver, so it upset Sheryl. “I didn’t make that throne for you.”“It’s a throne? But it is full of flowers,” Catherine smiled. “I like it. This is probably the only good thing you did in a while. But don’t worry. I’ll sit here and make this chair complete.”“You…” Sheryl was gritting her teeth, but Denver was okay with sitting on top of the desk.“How are the remaining people doing inside these walls?” Denver asked.“They are all terrified, not knowing when they are going to die,” Sheryl said.“They are afraid even with the walls protecting them?”“It’s not about the walls. They saw the street commanders get mind controlled last night,” Sheryl said. “Whether the council is behind it or not, it’s not something just anyone can do. If they can manipulate commander-level people, then it’s also possible

  • CHAPTER 240

How can a dead person move? How can a dead person growl?Denver had seen the movies where dead people moved, and they were called zombies. In fact, zombies were probably Diane’s favorite fantasy creatures as she often dressed up as a zombie on Halloween most of the time. But, seeing one on TV and in real life was a whole different thing.Denver, for a few seconds, was not able to process what he was witnessing. His feet did not move. His arms shivered somewhat. His heart also shook quite a bit.And his brain could not process the signals his eyes kept sending. The ‘running’ dead, faceless person jumped at Denver, as if trying to chew off Denver’s face and then probably eat his brains.Suddenly, a tree branch flew in like a spear and caught the undead monster around the waist and took it away.“What were you thinking, Boss?” Sheryl arrived up to him quickly.“Yeah, why were you just standing and daydreaming?” Catherine scolded him first and then looked at the seemingly undead monster.

Denver walked out of the whispering stone caves, with Catherine and Sheryl behind him.The hole in Catherine’s stomach closed pretty much, but it still left a scar, so she looked worried. “How can I get rid of this scar?”“That’s given by Philip,” Sheryl said, “so you’ll need to put some powerful herb on that spot before the scar takes root into the flesh. Or…”“Or? Is there another way?”“If your aura is better than Philip, then you can remove that scar,” Sheryl stated.“Then, Denver can remove it, can’t he?” Catherine quickly said.“Denver might find it difficult to remove that scar,” Sheryl opined.“Huh, you don’t believe in him?”“I do, but he’s not perfect,” Sheryl said. “He mastered only six of the eight Hawker Arts, whereas Philip mastered all eight. Everybody has their flaws. Nobody should even think they’re perfect and capable of doing everything.”“But my sister thinks she’s perfect,” Catherine replied.“Your sister?” Sheryl wasn’t too surprised. “The woman who took the hous

Sedrick was standing on the border wall. He saw a black owl flying in the sky.“Mm…” Sedrick squinted his eyes. “A black one again? I’m getting bored here.”Just then, Philip arrived there ever so silently. “Bored of what?”“Give me the permission to destroy this wall, Young Lord,” Sedrick asked him, not at all looking surprised as he sensed Philip’s arrival.“What’s the point of breaking this wall when Green Fang can easily build it again with her ability, Master Sedrick?” Philip said.“Uh, you are right,” Sedrick let go of his staff, and it was automatically fixed to his back because of the pull from his aura. “Then, are we really leaving this place be? I think we are giving up on a golden opportunity. If we force Denver and take him to the king, we’ll get a lot of credit for quelling an uprising.”“The problem is that he’s not instigating war or violence,” Philip replied.“But he’s taken this land for himself. It’s nothing short of revolt,” Sedrick said, oozing out his intentions t

Catherine did not see Philip coming.Denver was also taken by surprise, so all he saw was a streak of sapphire light. In the blink of an eye, Philip’s aura-covered fist was zooming into Denver’s face.Denver moved back instinctively, but Philip’s fist still struck his cheek anyway.A powerful shockwave pushed Catherine back, and she had to put pressure on herself to make herself weigh more so that she would be able to stay on her feet.Philip didn’t stop and continued to rain punches aimed at ribs and also abdomen and liver. His fists weren’t just mere concentrated points of energy. There was no brute force involved in his attacks, which looked like a masterful art in flow. There were no wasted movements. With every attack he received, Denver felt every drop of blood in his body vibrating and wanting to burst. As a result, Denver felt as if all his organs were about to rupture and break.Denver’s aura still managed to keep his body together, and his hands began to block the punches of

“Why are you here?” Novick frowned after seeing Philip and stood on guard.“Relax, Sir Novick. We’re not going to sandwich you here,” Philip smiled.Novick, however, didn’t lower his guard. “I can’t take your words for granted.” He moved back and made some room so that he wasn’t stuck between those two.“I think twice before shedding my enemies’ blood, so why would I attack a royal knight without good reason?” Philip said. “But if you are anxious, you can leave. I would like to talk privately with my brother here.”His words changed the expressions on the faces of Denver and Catherine.“I have already finished my mission,” Novick walked back without showing his back to them. “So, I’ll take my leave.” His voice faded away.Catherine was surprised that Novick was able to leave without many sounds with his footsteps, almost in the same way Philip arrived here.“This guy’s a monster, too…” she muttered under her breath and stood on alert.Denver was staring at Philip with a mixed emotion.

  • CHAPTER 235

Denver had no idea who Novick was. There was a chance that he was his sibling, or an underling of his sibling. He didn’t think Novick was part of Penal Hall as their uniform was different.Either way, it didn’t matter to him who Novick was. After nearly losing Catherine due to someone who’s supposed to be Denver’s elder sister, Denver had completely lost faith in the Hawkers. And he realized that everything Sheryl said was true.He shouldn’t trust anybody, even if they shared his blood.Naturally, Denver did not feel like respecting Novick even though Novick had come all this way to talk to him.Novick controlled his anger, despite Catherine and Denver provoking him. “What are you planning, Denver Nighthawk? Why did you build a wall around the Nameless Zone?”“Why should I answer you when you are not answering our question?” Denver asked back.“I’m Novick Norman,” he replied. “The fourth royal knight under His Majesty Casil.”Denver was surprised to hear that.“Royal knight?” Catherin
