Chapter 4. Ethan Right Hand

"Is there anything you want to ask?" asked Finnley.

He had already packed his files into his black suitcase, planning to leave since the discussion on inheritance rights was over. Finnley, who had worked as Kingsley's lawyer for ten years, was satisfied and relaxed.

"If no one has any questions, I'll leave," Finnley replied.

The man began to stand up from his seat on the sofa, followed by Astrid, who was about to escort him away. Seeing him as the leader in this place confused Ethan about where to start.

The young man also stood up and walked over to Finnley outside the Kingsley residence. Finnley and Astrid were surprised when Ethan called him back.

"What is it, Ethan? Or should I start calling you Young Master?" asked Finnley jokingly.

"You know, I didn't come from a rich family before. I don't know how to run a company and manage all this wealth," replied Ethan, confused.

"Then you need the best teacher who can teach you. A teacher who has experience with companies and financial management," Finnley said, pointing at Ethan.

He shifted his eyes to Astrid. The woman had been Mr. Kingsley's head bodyguard for about five years, so she would know and recognize anyone who could teach Ethan.

"What about one of Madame Sara's four children?" asked Astrid, Finnley visibly clucking his tongue at the suggestion of the woman before him.

"Somehow, I don't like all four of them except Hannah. She's a nice girl," Finnley said.

"But Hannah doesn't have any experience with the company yet," Astrid replied.

"Looks like we'll have to look outside for that," Finnley said.

Astrid and Finnley were silent for a while, their eyes staring upward as if they were remembering names that could teach Ethan about the company's ins and outs.

The front door of the Kingsley residence opened, and Sara came out with her first child, Theodore. The 187cm tall, athletically built man with gray-white hair, a regular nose, thin lips, and gaunt cheeks walked with his mother to Ethan.

He always wore glasses and had a cold gaze, like he was intimidating Ethan. Only the two of them came out of the house; Luke, Katherine, and Hannah were still inside.

"What is it, Theo?" asked Ethan, curious.

"We accidentally overheard your conversation with those two. You're going to be the first heir and CEO of the five Kingsley companies. Of course, you must have special skills so that what my father inherited doesn't collapse quickly," Theodore said.

Finnley looked suspiciously at Theodore. The man was currently the COO of two companies and the CMO of three Kingsley-owned companies.

If Finnley had to look for the most experienced person, Theodore was the right person. However, seeing Sara's family's arrogant, wasteful, and selfish behavior made Finnley hesitate to recommend Theodore to him.

"I have enough experience to teach you how to be a good CEO in my father's companies," Theodore said, volunteering to help Ethan.

Ethan glanced at Finnley and Astrid, the woman silent as she didn't want to interfere with Ethan and Sara's family business, while Finnley was seen shaking his head softly.

"How was it?" asked Theodore.

Although he was planning to teach Ethan, Ethan did not see a single smile drawn on his face. Theo looked at Ethan sarcastically as if looking down on the young man.

"I'm sorry, but Ethan already has a teacher for this. He won't need your help, Theo," Finnley said.

"Teacher? Who is he? Maybe I know him, so we can study together," Theo replied, smiling smugly at Finnley, who was standing near Ethan.

"She's in an important position at Eclipse Enterprises. I don't think I have any obligation to tell you about her name, right?" asked Finnley, confirming.

"Eclipse, huh? Okay. I see." Theo sighed as he invited his mother, Sara, into his car. The man was about to take his mother out for a while, clearing his mind from the unexpected occurrence.

Ethan, Finnley, and Astrid watched Theo leave. The car left Kingsley's residential area to go to a lake Sara often went to when she was in a lot of trouble.

"They will become more and more rebellious. I'm sure this arrangement is unfavorable to Sara's family," Finnley said, girding his loins as he watched the front gate of the Kingsley residence.

"You have to be firm, Ethan. You don't have to do what they say; sometimes you have to say no," Finnley continued.

The man turned to look at Ethan, who was standing right beside him. Finnley realized the great threat Ethan would face in the future, considering he held all the authority in this place.

"Where are you going now, Mr. Finnley?" asked Ethan.

"My contract with Kingsley ends after I read his will. This might be a good time for me to take a vacation," Finnley replied, taking a deep breath as if relieved that his job was done.

"What if I wanted you to be my lawyer?" asked Ethan, the request surprising Astrid, who hadn't expected Ethan to make such a decision.

Finnley turned his head slowly, looking at Ethan with a cold face, both eyebrows furrowed with the corners of his eyes turned down. Ethan looked at him like he was questioning his earlier question.

"Are you planning to ruin my vacation and make me work for you?" asked Finnley, voice firm.

"Yes. I want you to do that for me."

"Why?" asked Finnley.

"Because I think you're a trustworthy and capable person. I saw that when you took care of Mr. Kingsley's will," Ethan replied.

The young man trusted Finnley and thought the lawyer was a good person. After all, he didn't have anyone he could trust here besides Finnley and Astrid.

The two exchanged glances for a long time. Ethan didn't feel nervous or uneasy because he thought he was in charge here, so there was no fear in his heart.

"Huft!"

"Alright. I'll do it. I'll make you the same contract letter as mine and Mr. Kingsley's," Finnley said.

He turned his body around until he was fully face-to-face with the young man. Finnley smiled broadly as he extended his right hand, asking Ethan for a handshake.

"Let's work well together," Finnley said.

Ethan nodded happily. He took Finnley's hand and shook it firmly. The young man felt more secure than ever, with a permanent residence, plenty of money, an ever-present bodyguard, and a lawyer as his trusted person.

The young man was confident he could overcome all the obstacles that awaited him. With their help, he was determined to maintain the Kingsley family's glory and even expand it.

"I will also remain as your chief guard. Since you'll be living here forever, I'll show you every room in the mansion," Astrid said, speaking as Ethan and Finnley shook hands.

Ethan turned to look at Astrid, the woman who had been pointing a gun at him was now the one who would protect him. Ethan smiled as he told Astrid to walk away.

"Okay. Show me everything."
