Chapter 5. Ethan's Patience

***

The next day.

Ethan returned to his campus as if nothing had happened. He came out with the door opened by one of his bodyguards. Astrid also accompanied Ethan by sitting in the front seat close to the driver.

"You don't have to wait for me," Ethan said, speaking through the open car window on the driver's side.

"But what about your safety?" asked Astrid, worried.

"Haha, am I really going to war? I'll be fine. It's just college," Ethan replied, laughing softly when he saw Astrid's anxious face.

At first, Astrid insisted on accompanying Ethan, even when he was on campus. However, Ethan would feel limited in his activities and attract too much attention from the rest of the students.

"My class will end at three in the afternoon. You can come at that time to pick me up," Ethan explained, reluctant to have them follow him around campus.

"Alright. Take care of yourself, Young Master," Astrid pleaded.

Ethan smiled broadly. Astrid said goodbye to Ethan, the car window closed, and the black sedan was seen leaving the front gate of Ethan's campus in the direction of the Kingsley residence.

Now, Ethan was the only one in the place. The young man turned his body around and walked into the campus.

He came wearing a neat shirt, chino trousers, and white shoes that made his appearance so trendy.

But his charming appearance did not make other students who saw him admire him. Instead, they seemed to avoid Ethan right when they passed him.

Ethan also realized their attitude, but the ignorance that he had practiced for a long time made the young man not feel disturbed. The young man continued to walk forward toward his classroom.

"Ethan?" Elleanor's eyes widened at Ethan's presence on this campus. She hadn't expected Ethan to be present even though the video of his arrest by the city mafia had been spread throughout the campus.

Ethan was silent. He still remembered when Elle refused his request for help the other day. Also, Ethan thought that she already belonged to Marc. The young man didn't want to get into trouble with her and Marc.

The young man just threw a smile while continuing to walk toward his class. Elle and Ethan were in different classes, even different majors.

About ten minutes after walking to his classroom, Ethan was greeted by the silence of his classmates. They stared with cynical expressions at Ethan, including David and his group.

"Wow, I didn't expect the mafia to free our poor students," David snapped, immediately accompanied by laughter from the rest of his classmates.

"Mafia? What are you talking about?" asked Ethan, confused.

"Darren, show the video to these idiots," insulted David, telling his group mate, Darren, to show the video recording he made yesterday.

The curious Ethan took a look at the video. He was surprised to find that Darren had a videotape of him being captured by Astrid's men.

The young man looked around him. He was sure that not only David's group knew about the recording, but all classmates or students on this campus already knew about it.

"Poor people always try to run away when it comes to debt repayment. Typical big loser! HAHA," David said, speaking in a loud enough voice and laughing so hard that many people came to the class.

"You're wrong. They're not mafia," Ethan said, trying to be calm.

"If not, then who are they? Never mind! You don't need to evade. Your future is completely over today," Darren snapped, turning off the phone screen and putting his phone in his pants pocket.

"Put the city mafia aside. Did you do the assignment I gave you?" asked David, staring with sharp eyes at Ethan.

"Ah, I forgot about that. I haven't done it yet."

"WHAT?!"

David stood up straight away and pulled Ethan's shirt collar roughly. Not a single person had any intention of stopping their fight. Darren, Mia, and Martin also stood right behind David's back.

"Are you mocking me? Don't you know the consequences if you ignore my orders?!" groaned David, his face flushed with his hand muscles that began to tighten due to the anger in his heart.

The atmosphere was getting noisier. Not only students in the class but also students outside wanted to see the conflict that was happening. Most of them cheered for David because of his position as the son of a famous CEO.

BRUK!

David pushed Ethan's thin body so hard that the young man fell and hit the classroom wall. Chairs fell, and Darren grabbed Ethan's bag and tore up the books.

"Martin," David called the man with glasses walking straight up to him.

"Bring the trash bin in front of the classroom over here," David pleaded.

"With my pleasure!" said Martin, walking past several people to get the trash bin outside. It was full of garbage and watery.

"Take him to the field! Don't do it in the classroom," someone shouted from outside the classroom. David heard the shout and made the man grin.

"N-No, David. Don't do something you'll regret later," Ethan pleaded, stammering due to his current pressured position.

David laughed loudly at Ethan's plea. Being already covered in anger, the man took Ethan by locking the young man's head in the grip of his right hand. David dragged the young man out, followed by the rest of the students.

Martin continued doing his job, carrying a garbage can to drop on Ethan's head. Everyone looked enthusiastic like none of them sympathized with Ethan.

When the two of them arrived at the sports field, filled with people, this humiliation would be the biggest and most disgusting humiliation Ethan had ever received. All the students on campus would call him a scum student.

David threw Ethan's skinny body again, and it bounced two meters away. Martin quickly and swiftly spilled the entire trash can on Ethan's body, making his shirt dirty and foul-smelling.

"I've got a good nickname for him, poor smelly scum!" mocked David, a nickname so insulting that it would be remembered by many students.

Ethan could have told them that he was the CEO of a big company in town and the heir apparent. However, no one would believe him.

Everyone laughed loudly, from those who knew Ethan to those who didn't know him. Ethan lifted his head, feeling his hair getting wet and dirty from the pile of trash.

Ethan's head turned, taking in his surroundings. They laughed like they didn't feel Ethan's hurt right now. He also saw Eleanor unable to do anything, her eyes sparkling with tears, but her body was held by her lover, Marc.

Ethan was completely alone at that moment. No one dared to approach the young man to help him.

"Stop it!"

Ethan's attention was attracted by the sight of a woman walking into the field. She was beautiful and charming, her hair grayish-white with skin that looked fair. She arrived with her female friend near Ethan.

Ethan looked closely; his eyes blurred from all his suffering. She was none other than Hannah, Sara's last child.

"What did you do to him?! Don't you have a heart?!" snapped Hannah. He was three years different from Hannah. At this time, Hannah was nothing but a new student.

"Who are you?" asked David, confused.

"My name is Hannah Kingsley. You must know my surname, right?" asked Hannah, looking coldly at David.

"Tch! The Kingsleys," complained David. He couldn't do anything about Hannah because the Kingsleys were an influential family in town.

The Eclipse Enterprises company led by his father was also a company under the holding of Kingsley Enterprises. So, you could say that David's father's CEO position could easily be removed by the Kingsleys.

In the end, David ended the embarrassing show for Ethan. The man returned to his class, followed by his group. Not only David but all the students in that place began to leave Ethan and Hannah.

"Oh gosh, Ethan. Why didn't you fight them?" asked Hannah, not hesitating to touch Ethan's hand, which was covered in foul-smelling garbage water.

"If I tell them the truth, they'll laugh and torture me even worse than this," said Ethan, standing up from his seated position on the field.

"But this has gone too far! Where's Astrid? Isn't she supposed to guard you?" asked Hannah, helping Ethan up.

"I told her not to wait for me. I didn't want to be obvious to the other students."

Hannah's friend was confused about why Hannah could talk so familiarly with the young man, especially since she touched Ethan's hand contaminated with garbage water. As a result, the woman started asking Hannah about it.

"Why do you want to be close to him? Why are you talking so casually?" asked Hannah's female friend.

Hannah, who heard the question from her friend, immediately turned to Ethan. Ethan smiled while shaking his head, a sign that he didn't want his identity to be known by anyone.

"I just feel sorry for him, nothing more," Hannah said, walking backward while sweeping her hands with alcohol hand sanitizer.

"Thank you for helping me, Hannah. You don't have to worry about me," Ethan said, looking up at the second floor, where his class was.

"The best revenge is to show yourself."
