Gaston has 4 initial plans. First, get his revenge. Second, find his father and get his rightful position as the heir of the Hopkins Corporation. Third, save the Chairman from dying. And fourth, find the murderer.
Today is the fourth day since Gaston came back to the past. Until now, he was scared to think that everything was just a dream or an illusion. But he does not want to dwell on hesitating and waste time. If this is just a dream, so be it. But if this is the reality, he would do his best to survive until the end.
Ding dong~
After arriving in New York, Gaston went to visit the Chairman’s Grandson. It was to get his sign and approval for appointing Gaston as the temporary person who will manage Hamington corporation.
‘If my aim is to get power, I don’t need to do this,’ Gaston said in his head.
Hamington is the second largest corporation in their country. The first in rank is Hopkins. If Gaston needs power, finding his father and revealing his identity as the missing son would be enough.
That is why Gaston agreed to go to New York. As far as he can remember, Mr. John Hopkins was in New York during this month.
He went here to find John. That is the first. But meeting the Chairman’s grandson is also important for him.
‘His sign isn’t the problem. It is whether he’ll believe me or not,’ having these thoughts, Gaston pressed the doorbell again.
The second time, the door opened. A man with marine-cut black hair, penetrating eyes, thick brows, lordly nose, thin lips and pale skin came out. Seeing him, Gaston was convinced that good appearance does run in the Solice family's blood.
“Who are you?” Griffti Solice asked.
‘He doesn’t sound friendly,’ Gaston noticed before he answered in a polite tone. “Hello. You are Griffti Solice, right? I am Gaston Harrison.”
“I am Griffti. I don’t buy insurance.”
Gaston frowned. Did Griffti just think that he was selling insurance?
Unable to believe what he just heard, Gaston murmured, “Huh?”
“If you came here to sell insurance, then please leave.”
“Wait a minute!” Gaston stopped the door from closing. He looked straight into Griffti’s piercing stare and introduced, “I am your Grandfather’s Secretary. Your Grandfather sent me here because we need your sign.”
“Mr. Gaston.”
When Griffti called his name and leaned closer, Gaston thought that Griffti would warmly welcome him. However…
“Get lost.”
Those two words rang inside Gaston’s ears. He came all the way to New York for this guy and what? He was told to get lost?!
Without giving Gaston a chance to explain, Griffti closed the door and never opened it again.
The Solice Family members were known for their dignified image. But behind the curtain, they are evil. Gaston knew that because he was a victim of their cruelty. But after meeting Griffti, Gaston found out that he is the worst.
“If not only for the Chairman, I would not meet that brat,” Gaston said as he entered a bar.
It is an exclusive bar for rich and conglomerate people. Gaston heard that John Hopkins always visits this place once a week. And he went there hoping to have a chance to meet the busy person.
He looked around the luxurious establishment. Customers are sitting in their designated place while drinking their alcoholic drinks. But none of them caught Gaston’s interest.
‘Mr. John Hopkins isn’t here.’
He looked forward and saw a balcony with a sign “VVIP lounge”.
Since John Hopkins rarely communicates with the public, Gaston thought that he might be in that place. Gaston approached the counter and knocked on the table.
The bartender looked back and gave him a friendly smile.
“A pleasure evening, Sir.”
“I am looking for someone. Does Mr. John Hopkins visit this place frequently?”
The bartender only gave him an awkward beam. “I am sorry, Sir. But we are not allowed to disclose our customer’s information.”
Sighing, Gaston looked at the VVIP lounge. “Then, can I stay in that place?”
The bartender followed the direction of his finger and answered, “Only VVIP customers can stay there.”
“How can I become a VVIP customers?”
“We can discuss that with our Manager, Sir. But may I know your name?”
Gaston got his contact card and gave it to the bartender.
When the bartender read that Gaston is the Hamington’s Chairman’s secretary, his eyes widened.
“So, you are Mr. Harold Secretary? Mr. Harold is a Super VVIP customer in this place.”
“Oh, really?”
The bartender went out of the counter and bowed his head. “Please, come with me. I will guide you to the balcony.”
Gaston smiled at him and followed the bartender on the way to the balcony. He was thankful that he could use the Chairman’s influence.
“Please enjoy,” the bartender said as he slid the big tinted glass.
“Thank you,” Gaston said, before I entered the wide space.
As soon as he stepped, he saw tall buildings of New York. The stars seemed to have fallen down on the ground, making bright colors of pink, blue and yellow, which encased the town.It was so beautiful, it appeared so surreal in his eyes.
After enjoying the view, Gaston observed the large balcony. People here were so different from the people inside the bar. They were expensive clothes and others had guards with them. As Gaston continued his search for John, he spotted a familiar man sitting on the corner.
When the man tilted his head to his side, their gazes locked.
It was the Chairman’s rude grandson who Gaston met this morning.
Hah!
Gaston scoffed, quite annoyed. With hands inside his pocket, he approached Griffti.
“Did you follow me here?” Griffti asked as soon as Gaston arrived by his side.
“Pardon me, young master. But I didn’t come here to meet you.”
“This is too much to be called coincidence.”
Gaston’s brows squished together in an accusatory frown. He looked at Griffti, who is much younger than him. Then he responded, “I don’t think you will listen to me. You never gave me a chance to explain, YOUNG MASTER.”
Gritting his teeth, Griftti answered, “Don’t call me YOUNG MASTER. I am not your master.”
“You are the Chairman’s first grandson and the fourth person with the highest shares. How should I call you then?”
Griffti inhaled sharply before he stood up and picked his sketchbook. He faced him and said, “You speak so rude for a mere secretary. I’m outta here.”
He walked past but stopped when he heard the next thing Gaston said.
“The Chairman will step down.”
Halting, Griffti looked back at the secretary.
“He wanted me to manage the Hamington corporation for a while. And we need your sign of approval.”
“Ahhhh, I get it,” Griffti murmured while nodding his head. “You need me to step up to the ladder and gain power.”
Gaston chuckled as shook his head. “Whether you sign it or not I don’t care that much. Actually, I am not really that interested in Hamington.”
Griffti narrowed his eyes to Gaston. All the people he met so far have only one reason for approaching Griffti. And that is because they are interested in Hamington’s wealth and power.
“You expect me to believe that? You came all the way here to meet me,” Griffti answered.
“I already told you that you are not the first reason why I came to this place. However, I had to admit that I wanted to see you too.”
“And why? Why does a mere secretary who does not care about power want to see a runaway Grandson like me?”
Gaston paused for long seconds. He pondered a lot if it is right to bring the rude Griffti into his side. After a while, Gaston made his decision.
“Your Grandfather will die.”
“Your Grandfather will die.” Griffti held his breath for a second. There was a gnawing silence between him and Gaston. And even if there were sounds of wind gushing and murmuring words, they were muted down. The two of them looked at each other for long seconds, until Griffti detached his lips. “Is he… sick?” “No,” Gaston replied. “If he’s not sick, then why are you telling me that he’s going to die?” Because Gaston came from the future. It was hard to find evidence of a murder that hadn’t happened yet. Therefore, telling Griffti that he came from the future is the only explanation Gaston has as of now. But will Griffti believe him? Gaston took a deep breath. His secret is not something that is easy to share. Not candy, juice or chips which are easy to digest. Anyone who hears this might think that he’s losing his mind. ‘However, the time limit is short,’ Gaston thought. He gathered his courage and opened his lips again. Then he said, “There is someone aiming for the Chairm
Walking in the Time Square in New York, Gaston saw many hotels and theaters. Despite the street’s large size, it was crowded with cars and people. Gaston really felt the fast life in this place, which was famous as the City that never sleeps. When he looked up, he saw signboards that advertise products and a TV screen which showed news about the recent Championship in the Fifa World Cup. As he looked down, the people who were walking with him on the pedestrian lane were browsing on their phones and reading news about Messi’s retirement. Not everyone was interested in the World Cup. But the majority were. ‘That’s why he has no choice but to believe in me,’ Gaston thought. This early morning, he received a text from the Chairman’s first grandson. Griffti asked Gaston to meet him today and sent the location too. Gaston agreed. But before that, Gaston needs to go somewhere first. It’s almost a week, yet he hasn’t found his father, John Hopkins. He went to John’s favorite restaurant
Griffti went to the park and sat on the bench. He stared at the large space then the inspiration came flooding inside his mind. He moved his hand and started drawing on his sketchbook. After some minutes, he finished drawing his park plan using his imagination. Griffti stared at his artwork with a proud smile. Looking at this is enough. He has no plan in using his talent to achieve more than this. Because he knows that with his mental illness, he does not deserve any of his professors' compliments. Sighing, Griffti enjoyed the breeze while sitting on the bench. He will meet Gaston later and talk about things that kept him awake all night. ‘Can he really tell the future?’ Griffti wondered. The result of the Fifa World Cup is one of his pieces of evidence. But Griffti needs to clarify more things. ‘Who knows. Maybe he’s friends with the Argentina National Team,’ Griffti said. “No,” he disagreed with his own idea. “Even though he has a connection with them, there’s no way to ma
After meeting with the Heydiko Project’s contractor, Griffti went to the cafe where he promised to meet Griffti. When he arrived at the cafe, he sat down and waited. Gaston ordered a glass of lemonade and drank it while waiting. “I am sure he will ask me more about my ability to see the future,” Gaston murmured before taking another sip. With those in mind, he prepared some things to say so that Griffti would be convinced that he’s telling the truth. Then, the logo of the mall caught Gaston’s attention. “H&Bert,” he read. ‘Why does it sound familiar to me?’ Gaston wondered. He was so certain that this is the first time he visited this mall. But oddly, the name of the man sounds so familiar to him. ‘I think I heard this mall’s name a long time ago.’ He dug into his memories. With much effort, Gaston recalled an event. After Chairman Harold offered Gaston to manage the Hamington for a while, Gaston declined the offer. As a result, the Chairman’s son, Sonny, became the temporar
Krrrks. Another small cement crack fell down in the center of the four. Griffti and the two guards looked at the man who gave them the warning. They really thought he’s only losing a few screws on his head. “I told you! Get everyone out of here!” Gaston shouted. Seeing the catastrophe that was bound to happen, the guards knew they had to inform the mall’s management as soon as possible. They don’t have the time to idle and wonder how a man guessed what is about to happen. Hundreds of lives are at stake! One guard informed the management and the other ran to call the other crew. Griffti stood blankly at the situation. ‘This is impossible.’ He couldn’t believe that Gaston’s guess might come true. No matter how knowledgeable someone is in building infrastructure, it is impossible to guess beforehand that the building will collapse. Unless you know it in advance. [“Everyone in the mall. This is an emergency. All people, including the employees and staff should leave the plac
Gaston felt the pain all over his body, especially his foot. Groaning, he forced his eyes open only to see nothing but pitch of darkness. “Ugh! Ugh!” he coughed after inhaling the dusty air. He turned around, adjusting in the dark. He tried to move but his foot ached so he stayed on his seat. Groping around he touched the cold rock and cement. Behind him, there was a metallic smooth object. Amidst the dark, Gaston focused on finding the man whom he last saw before losing his consciousness. “Griffti! Are you there?!” His voice only echoed. No one answered his call. He opened his mouth again and shouted, “Hey! Griffti! Grif.. Ugh!” The dust went inside his mouth and his throat felt so dry and itchy. Still, he desperately call for the Chairman’s grandson even though he felt like blood would come out from his mouth. “Griffti!” “Damn. You are so noisy.” Gaston ceased when he finally heard someone reply to him. He sighed in relief. “You’re alive?!” Gaston asked. “No. I am a gho
“The prosecution demanded us to cooperate with the investigation. I am afraid to say that we need to halt the Heydiko project, Sir Hopkins.” John Hopkins, the owner of the Hopkins corporation, looked at his secretary. There was a perturbed expression on his face as he listened to the bad news. Not long ago, the J&F company on which the Heydiko Project signed with, was involved in a drug scandal with Senator Frederiko. The senator stands at the opposing party of the President, which made it hard for him to clear his name because the President’s side were determined to reveal his corruption and illegal activities. Of course the Hopkins construction company is innocent. But because they signed a contract with the J&F company, the prosecution wanted to investigate them. John sighed. He could not believe that signing with J&F would cost them a lot. Many will lose their current jobs and Hopkins has to pay for the loss since they need to extend the contracts to other partnered companies.
At the airport the tiles under foot gleamed white and everywhere, people milled around. Several men in black with earpieces on their ears, were seen moving up to the second floor, riding the glass elevator which leads to the upper floor where only VIP’s are allowed. They were on their way to guard and welcome the first grandson of the Chairman. After many years, the grandson of the billionaire will come back home, and therefore, Harold wanted to welcome him in the most extravagant way. From the earpieces on their ears, the guard heard that the plane from New York had landed. They formed in line, not taking their eyes off the automatic glass door. Soon, it opened. Gaston and Griffti exited the glass door together. As they stepped out, loud voices echoed in the space. “Welcome back!” the men in black enthusiastically greeted the three with bows. The two men who are really important in Harold’s life, looked at the men before them. Griftti looked around the airport and breathed the
