Jurgen went to the pub to drink. He was wearing a button up shirt and tie, which are his uniform as Chairman’s guard. Sitting alone, he grabbed his drink and jugged his beer.
“W-Why… Why are you… you doing this to me, Gaston?” he talked alone.
His glossy eyes which were drifting around the space blinked slowly.
With his haw hanging slack, he continued.
“I am your friend! Why do you have to kick me t-that way?!” he shouted before slamming the desk.
Other customers in the pub looked into his way and went back to their own business. Jurgen washed his reddened face with his dry palms and messed up his brown hair. He was so confused.
Last night, Gaston and him were doing fine. They even planned on camping together next week. It was Jurgen’s mistake that he told Divine about Gaston’s secret, but that is not enough for Gaston to kick him out of the mansion.
“N-Now… what will I do?” Jurgen sobbed, crying with sarcastic smiles.
He spent all of his money investing in a small business and he was scammed. He has no other place to stay and no money to fill his stomach. The only things he has is his job in the mansion and the privilege to stay there for free.
“JUST WHY?!” he shouted again and banged the desk with his fist.
The empty glass on the table shook.
He was so drunk that the people around weren’t confused why he was acting like a madman.
‘Yes. I am going crazy. At this state, I think I am about to lose my mind!’ he complained inwardly as he glared at the glass in front of him.
Jurgen felt so damn betrayed by the only person he trusted. He thought of ways to make Gaston regret his decisions. Yet, he could not think of one.
As of now, Gaston holds high authority in the Hamington corporation. What can Jurgen do to get revenge?
While he was thinking of a way to get back at Gaston, a group of men went to his side. He lifted his head and it was too late to escape.
Jurgen stood up, grabbed his bags and about to flee. But one man pulled his collar and forced him to be seated back.
“Where do you think you’re going? Huh?”
Catching his breath, Jurgen looked up with sweats dripping from his forehead.
Aside from having no place to stay, he also has one major problem. And that is having debts from the Loan shark.
“I was informed that you will pay today. I hope this isn't false information.
“I w-will pay you. B-But give me two w-weeks and…!”
Jurgen was forced up as the man grabbed his collar upward. He held his breath while exchanging gazes with the man with the dragon tattoo on his arm.
“One week. You only have one week, Mr. Beil. If you failed to pay before the due date, then you should watch your neck.”
Frightened to death, Jurgen enthusiastically nodded his head. He was still angry at Gaston. But during this moment, he was the only one he could think of.
If he had to beg on his knees for one last time, Jurgen was willing to throw his pride away.
----------------------------------- ---------------------------
Griffti Solice. He graduated in Architecture in Harvard University and was complimented by renowned professors because of his talent. But despite receiving tons of offers from different companies, he accepted none.
It wasn’t because he did not want to succeed. But there was another reason why he had to separate himself from society.
“Are you having another dream again?” the doctor asked Griffti.
From the white glossy floor, Griffti looked at the doctor.
“It’s been years since I haven’t dreamed of that incident again,” Griffti’s deep voice resonated inside the psychiatrist clinic room. “But last week, it started again.”
“Do you still suffering from the same dream?” the doctor asked Cassius.
"Yes."
“I see,” the doctor murmured, and asked him, “Did you ever have a close contact with anyone?”
Griffti shook his head.
“Then, how about seeing a large portion of water?”
Once again, Griffti shook his head as his answer.
“How about seeing a person from your relatives?”
He flinched at the question and looked straight at his doctor.
Usually, his disease attacks whenever he sees, talks or encounter any of his relatives. During his long stay in New York, there was none of the Solice family who visited him.
“I did not meet anyone from my relatives.”
“Did you have a hard time sleeping?”
“A lot. I felt my body tremble even if the night was warm.”
“I think we should give your old medicine back.”
Griffti nodded his head as to agree with the prescription.
“For now, we need to observe you closely and look for the reason which triggers your old trauma. And please come back as soon as possible if the seizures worsen.”
“I will.”
After meeting with his doctor, Griffti went back to his condominium. He went quickly inside the bathroom and took a shower.
Standing under the shower, he looked up and enjoyed the warm droplets of water. He has problems seeing large portions of water but he can still bath in ease. If he sees a large portion of water like ocean, river, swimming pool or late, he loses his composure and sometimes even collapses.
‘I did not expose myself to the crowd and see the ocean. Why am I having nightmares these past few days?’ he wondered.
Griffti sighted. He closed the shower and wore his bathrobe. He walked out of the bathroom while sweeping his black hair with his long fingers.
Inside the condominium, deafening sounds resonated. It was so silent that only bubble sounds from the aquarium would be heard.
Aside from that, Griffti talks rarely. Well, he has no one to talk to aside from his pet.
“Are you hungry?” Griffti asked the fishes inside the the tank.
At least, there are fishes who will accompany his lonely life in New York.
Ding dong~
Griffti looked at the door. It’s weird. He has no friends in this place and he could not remember ordering something. So, who came to visit?
Ding dong~
The doorbell rang again.
Crumpling his thick and mushy eyebrows, he walked towards the door. When he opened the door, he saw a man in a gray suit.
“Who are you?” Griffti asked.
“Hello. You are Griffti Solice, right? I am Gaston Harrison.”
“I am Griffti. I don’t buy insurance.”
“Huh?”
“If you came here to sell insurance, then please leave.”
Griffti pulled the door close but Gaston held the doorknob and opened it once again. “Wait a minute!”
After opening the door, Gaston looked at the rude grandson of Chairman Harold. Griffti’s eyes weren’t a view to enjoy. He was glaring at Gaston as if he would cut his neck with his stare.
Nonetheless, Gaston does not want to back down.
“I am your Grandfather’s Secretary.”
Griffti frowned even harder after hearing who he is.
“Your Grandfather sent me here because we need your sign.”
“Mr. Gaston,” Griffti called.
“Yes?”
Griffti leaned a little closer. Then he whispered, “Get lost.”
Gaston has 4 initial plans. First, get his revenge. Second, find his father and get his rightful position as the heir of the Hopkins Corporation. Third, save the Chairman from dying. And fourth, find the murderer. Today is the fourth day since Gaston came back to the past. Until now, he was scared to think that everything was just a dream or an illusion. But he does not want to dwell on hesitating and waste time. If this is just a dream, so be it. But if this is the reality, he would do his best to survive until the end. Ding dong~ After arriving in New York, Gaston went to visit the Chairman’s Grandson. It was to get his sign and approval for appointing Gaston as the temporary person who will manage Hamington corporation. ‘If my aim is to get power, I don’t need to do this,’ Gaston said in his head. Hamington is the second largest corporation in their country. The first in rank is Hopkins. If Gaston needs power, finding his father and revealing his identity as the missing son wo
“Your Grandfather will die.” Griffti held his breath for a second. There was a gnawing silence between him and Gaston. And even if there were sounds of wind gushing and murmuring words, they were muted down. The two of them looked at each other for long seconds, until Griffti detached his lips. “Is he… sick?” “No,” Gaston replied. “If he’s not sick, then why are you telling me that he’s going to die?” Because Gaston came from the future. It was hard to find evidence of a murder that hadn’t happened yet. Therefore, telling Griffti that he came from the future is the only explanation Gaston has as of now. But will Griffti believe him? Gaston took a deep breath. His secret is not something that is easy to share. Not candy, juice or chips which are easy to digest. Anyone who hears this might think that he’s losing his mind. ‘However, the time limit is short,’ Gaston thought. He gathered his courage and opened his lips again. Then he said, “There is someone aiming for the Chairm
Walking in the Time Square in New York, Gaston saw many hotels and theaters. Despite the street’s large size, it was crowded with cars and people. Gaston really felt the fast life in this place, which was famous as the City that never sleeps. When he looked up, he saw signboards that advertise products and a TV screen which showed news about the recent Championship in the Fifa World Cup. As he looked down, the people who were walking with him on the pedestrian lane were browsing on their phones and reading news about Messi’s retirement. Not everyone was interested in the World Cup. But the majority were. ‘That’s why he has no choice but to believe in me,’ Gaston thought. This early morning, he received a text from the Chairman’s first grandson. Griffti asked Gaston to meet him today and sent the location too. Gaston agreed. But before that, Gaston needs to go somewhere first. It’s almost a week, yet he hasn’t found his father, John Hopkins. He went to John’s favorite restaurant
Griffti went to the park and sat on the bench. He stared at the large space then the inspiration came flooding inside his mind. He moved his hand and started drawing on his sketchbook. After some minutes, he finished drawing his park plan using his imagination. Griffti stared at his artwork with a proud smile. Looking at this is enough. He has no plan in using his talent to achieve more than this. Because he knows that with his mental illness, he does not deserve any of his professors' compliments. Sighing, Griffti enjoyed the breeze while sitting on the bench. He will meet Gaston later and talk about things that kept him awake all night. ‘Can he really tell the future?’ Griffti wondered. The result of the Fifa World Cup is one of his pieces of evidence. But Griffti needs to clarify more things. ‘Who knows. Maybe he’s friends with the Argentina National Team,’ Griffti said. “No,” he disagreed with his own idea. “Even though he has a connection with them, there’s no way to ma
After meeting with the Heydiko Project’s contractor, Griffti went to the cafe where he promised to meet Griffti. When he arrived at the cafe, he sat down and waited. Gaston ordered a glass of lemonade and drank it while waiting. “I am sure he will ask me more about my ability to see the future,” Gaston murmured before taking another sip. With those in mind, he prepared some things to say so that Griffti would be convinced that he’s telling the truth. Then, the logo of the mall caught Gaston’s attention. “H&Bert,” he read. ‘Why does it sound familiar to me?’ Gaston wondered. He was so certain that this is the first time he visited this mall. But oddly, the name of the man sounds so familiar to him. ‘I think I heard this mall’s name a long time ago.’ He dug into his memories. With much effort, Gaston recalled an event. After Chairman Harold offered Gaston to manage the Hamington for a while, Gaston declined the offer. As a result, the Chairman’s son, Sonny, became the temporar
Krrrks. Another small cement crack fell down in the center of the four. Griffti and the two guards looked at the man who gave them the warning. They really thought he’s only losing a few screws on his head. “I told you! Get everyone out of here!” Gaston shouted. Seeing the catastrophe that was bound to happen, the guards knew they had to inform the mall’s management as soon as possible. They don’t have the time to idle and wonder how a man guessed what is about to happen. Hundreds of lives are at stake! One guard informed the management and the other ran to call the other crew. Griffti stood blankly at the situation. ‘This is impossible.’ He couldn’t believe that Gaston’s guess might come true. No matter how knowledgeable someone is in building infrastructure, it is impossible to guess beforehand that the building will collapse. Unless you know it in advance. [“Everyone in the mall. This is an emergency. All people, including the employees and staff should leave the plac
Gaston felt the pain all over his body, especially his foot. Groaning, he forced his eyes open only to see nothing but pitch of darkness. “Ugh! Ugh!” he coughed after inhaling the dusty air. He turned around, adjusting in the dark. He tried to move but his foot ached so he stayed on his seat. Groping around he touched the cold rock and cement. Behind him, there was a metallic smooth object. Amidst the dark, Gaston focused on finding the man whom he last saw before losing his consciousness. “Griffti! Are you there?!” His voice only echoed. No one answered his call. He opened his mouth again and shouted, “Hey! Griffti! Grif.. Ugh!” The dust went inside his mouth and his throat felt so dry and itchy. Still, he desperately call for the Chairman’s grandson even though he felt like blood would come out from his mouth. “Griffti!” “Damn. You are so noisy.” Gaston ceased when he finally heard someone reply to him. He sighed in relief. “You’re alive?!” Gaston asked. “No. I am a gho
“The prosecution demanded us to cooperate with the investigation. I am afraid to say that we need to halt the Heydiko project, Sir Hopkins.” John Hopkins, the owner of the Hopkins corporation, looked at his secretary. There was a perturbed expression on his face as he listened to the bad news. Not long ago, the J&F company on which the Heydiko Project signed with, was involved in a drug scandal with Senator Frederiko. The senator stands at the opposing party of the President, which made it hard for him to clear his name because the President’s side were determined to reveal his corruption and illegal activities. Of course the Hopkins construction company is innocent. But because they signed a contract with the J&F company, the prosecution wanted to investigate them. John sighed. He could not believe that signing with J&F would cost them a lot. Many will lose their current jobs and Hopkins has to pay for the loss since they need to extend the contracts to other partnered companies.
