Chapter nine.

Max Xanderson turned immediately and heaved a sigh of relief as his daughter was still on the bed and hadn't seen what had happened.

"I'm coming sweetheart."

Max Xanderson immediately said as he rolled Alice Stevens up in a carton and dumped her into one of the stores in the supermarket.

Rushing towards Chloe, he immediately gets to the chair where she was tied up and starts to loosen the rope off his daughter.

The untying took about 1 minute as Alice Stevens had really done a great job with tying up little Chloe.

Hugging his daughter tight, Max Xanderson immediately wept slowly and dabbed his tears away.

The situation was intense and palpable.

"Dad, why did you leave us?"

"Is it because mom wasn't good enough for you?"

"Or is it me?…wasn't I good enough for you?"

Chloe Maxwell asked as she stared into Max's face which was now laced with a mixture of confusion and disappointment.

"Darling is not that…"

Max Xanderson tried hard to explain, but no one, not even his daughter could understand why he did what he had to do.

"Dad, since you left, Grandpa and Grandma have been humiliating Mom and me every day."

"The last time they almost threw us out of the house…they said you are the reason why they are suffering."

Max Xanderson only patted her on her back slowly in a bid to pacify her anger.

"It will all be alright…Daddy is home and I'm going to fix everything."

Max Xanderson pleaded with his daughter, his voice was barely above whispers and laced with reassurance.

"Daddy, why would you leave us in the first place?"

"I have been bullied and called a fatherless child in school…Daddy why?!"

Chloe Maxwell with teary eyes kept on asking Max Xanderson for a perfect explanation for why he left but Max Xanderson could not come up with any perfect excuse.

"It will be alright Chloe…I will make everyone who has humiliated you and mom pay dearly in due time."

Max Xanderson's voice was laced with determination and reassurance as he hugged Chloe Maxwell even more.

"I promise Chloe…even if it's the last thing I do."

"They will all pay dearly."

His eyes glinted in venom and anger as he stared into the wall in front of him.

He could feel the warm tears of his daughter running down his back wetting his shirt.

Max Xanderson had long wanted to visit his family but he couldn't, most of the missions he embarked on were highly classified military missions, plus he would be risking his family's life if he had contacted them.

"Are you sure that they will all pay Dad?"

Chloe Maxwell asked as she dabbed her eyes dry.

"I promise Chloe…I promise."

Just then, the door was kicked open forcibly as Jack Oniels led his fellow teammates and they stormed the whole supermarket immediately.

"Dad, what's going on?"

Chloe Maxwell asked as she stared around in bewilderment and anxiety.

"Relax Chloe, they are friends and not foes."

Max Xanderson's voice was barely above whispers but laced with reassurance as he hugged Chloe.

"Mom!!!"

Chloe immediately yelled as she spotted Melissa Stevens who was just entering the building with some military personnel.

"Chloe!!!"

Melissa screamed as she immediately ran and hugged her daughter and both of them wept soberfully.

The reunion made Max Xanderson almost wet with tears.

"Sire here you go."

Jack Oniels immediately handed Max Xanderson a hand towel.

Dabbing his eyes dry, Max Xanderson immediately took Jack Oniels outside and whispered something into his ears which made Jack Oniels shudder in trepidation.

Beads of sweat immediately build down his cheeks.

"But sire…that wouldn't be such a great idea."

Jack Oniels protested calmly.

"Jack…just do as I have said."

Max Xanderson immediately walked back into the supermarket and instructed Tyler Oniels, Jack's brother, to dispose of Alice Stevens' body before Chloe or Melissa Stevens would see it.

"Chloe…where is your aunty, Alice?"

Melissa Stevens asked as she stared around in bewilderment.

"She left…she ran away before I could get to her."

Max Xanderson immediately cut in.
