Bryan was able to catch Claire just in time before she hit the floor. He cradled her in his arms carefully and then steadied her. "You shouldn't have done that," he sneered at Scar.
Claire was surprised at his boldness but she was also frightened on his behalf, she didn't want them to get into trouble with the notorious Mafia so she tried to silence him. "Don't worry, I'm fine," she mumbled and held onto Bryan's arms tightly.
"How dare you touch my wife? You've just signed your death!" He snapped. Scar looked at him with raised brows and then burst out laughing, the sound a cackling and ugly one. "I have signed my death?" He asked in a mocking tone and looked at Bryan's shoes, "You dare come into my home to threaten me?!" He snapped, his face quickly morphing into an angry scowl.
"You dare lay your filthy hands on my wife? Do you know what you've just done?" Bryan sneered at him. Juliet was surprised that he was talking back to the mafia. She needed Scar's help and she wanted to be on his side, she snapped at Bryan to keep her shut and not talk to Scar carelessly.
"Have you forgotten where you are?!" She snapped at him and then turned to glare at Claire, "You better keep your demented husband in check if you know what is good for you!" She spat.
"Get out of this, Juliet, this is about to get ugly," Bryan warned her with a fierce look. Juliet was taken aback, in all the years her cousin had been married to Bryan, she hadn't seen that side of him that stood up for his wife or even anyone at all. He was always so calm despite all they said to him.
"I let you into my home and now you're undermining my authority? You are threatening me?!" Scar snapped at him, "What nerves!"
"I don't know why they came here in the first place, they shouldn't be worthy of standing in the presence of a man like you," Juliet snapped, although she was a little weary of Brian's novel aggression, she was confident that Scar was right beside her and he was the worst mafia.
"I guess he is right, someone has just signed their death sentence, but it certainly isn't me," Scar said with bared teeth, "It's him and this bitch wife of his," he sneered. At once, he ordered his men who were just outside the door to come in and tie Bryan and Claire up.
Juliet was smiling at the terror in Claire's eyes. She held onto her husband's arms tightly and was trembling. "Pleas__" she tried to beg but Bryan stopped her. "He can't hurt us," he said bravely.
Scar sneered at him, "This is my home and I can assure you that no one is coming to your rescue, I am going to tie you up and torment you until I see the breath leave your body, I will use you as an example for some who wants to defy me," he stated coldly.
The goons came into the room. Three hefty men all looking like they could just snap the couple in half. They were with thick ropes and bats. Bryan moved in front of his wife and took the first punch but that was about the only punch he took. He was fast on his feet and quickly toppled the first man to the ground with one swift kick to the shin.
He was wrestling the second goon to the floor with his thick rope when the door opened and everyone turned to see the newcomer. A Rolls Royce could be seen parked at the entrance and a man stepped out of the car. He was none other than Mark Ogiv, he was the supreme mafia of the entire territory and Scar was loyal to him as well every day there were gangsters in the city and beyond.
Scar was so shocked that he and his men all stopped at once and bowed to the supreme mafia. Mark Ogiv looked at Scar with an ugly scowl. Scar was shocked by his master, he rarely made appearances unless for a very important business deal, and clearly, he hadn't even announced his coming. "Master Ogiv, what are you doing here?" Scar asked in surprise.
Mark slapped him soundly, snapping his face to the side with the impact. "How dare you lay your hands on him and his wife?!" He snapped. Scar was a little shocked, he held his cheeks in astonishment and didn't know what to say.
"I...they...he was..." Scar stammered in front of his boss but didn't seem to have the right words to string together.
Juliet didn't know why Mark had stepped in to help her cousin when all she longed for was to see them being totally humiliated. "But he is doing the right thing," she said, immediately taking sides with Scar, "He has to show them that not everyone is allowed to address an important mafia like that, much more peasants of this caliber," she spat condescendingly.
Scar was still too stunned to speak but he looked at her pointedly, trying to tell her that she wasn't supposed to speak while the supreme mafia was still speaking. But she clearly didn't hear the message and continued to ramble on.
"And who are you?" Mark Ogiv asked with a nasty frown, Juliet was about to introduce herself when she suddenly felt the sting of his slap on her own cheeks. She gasped and grabbed her throbbing jaw. "Don't you dare talk while I'm still talking, do you understand?" He asked coldly. Juliet was so shocked that she nodded eagerly, becoming mute.
Mark turned to Bryan and Claire and then said to Scar, "I will cut you to pieces if you dare lay a finger on them again, have I made myself clear?"
Scar nodded wordlessly and so did his men who laid down their ropes and moved away. "I'm sorry for their careless behavior," Mark Ogiv, the supreme mafia said and bowed to Bryan.
Juliet was burning red with fury, with her cheeks still hurting from the impact of the slap, she sneered at Bryan and Claire. "What the hell did you guys just do? You will regret this!" She snapped. Mark came at her again and she stepped back, evidently frightened by the angry look on the mafia's face. "I don't know what this fiasco is but I will tell grandmother and uncle all about it! I'm sure you will be punished for this humiliation!" She snapped. Mark turned to her and gave her a final cold warning, "Get out of here unless you want that pretty little face of yours to be ruined," he snapped. Juliet jerked at his voice and huffed as she angrily walked out, more or less stomping. As she grabbed her purse and got into her car, she groaned loudly as she saw the red prints on her cheeks. There was no hiding that she had just gotten hit and she was even more furious that Claire and her retard husband were somehow the reasons for that. "Why would that mafia boss listen to them, who th
Bryan got into the car with Claire but his hands were still clenched into fists and his jaw was ticking. Claire could see in fury in his eyes even as they drove off. The bag of money was still on her lap and she had tons of questions for her husband but somehow she couldn't just get the words out. "Are you okay?" He asked her as they made a sharp turn and parked in front of their home. Claire nodded. She was more than fine, she was also surprised. "I'm okay," she replied meekly. Bryan swore under his breath and mumbled something she couldn't quite grab. "Bryan, really, I'm okay," she replied with a smile. "Did he hurt you? I'm sorry I couldn't protect you properly from that sonofabitch," he said worriedly, his eyes scanned over her body with angry eyes. Bryan was so upset that the beast dared ro lay a hand on his wife. "Will you stop worrying? No one hurt me," she said and stretched to hold his hands which were clenched on the steering. She tried to ease it off slowly and then pla
"Mum! You won't believe anything good I say concerning Bryan?" Claire asked, disheartened. Freda waved her off, "You should consider yourself lucky that you weren't harassed by the ruthless mafia, then that useless husband of yours wouldn't have been able to save you," she snapped. Claire sighed, realizing that it was pointless to try convincing her mother of what had happened at Scar's residence when it was becoming all clear that she would never see a thing good about Bryan. "Hurry up, you should change into something nice and get ready to meet Louis and his friends, they are the ones who made Mark Ogiv come to your rescue and you owe them appreciation," she ordered quickly and nudged her into her room. "Mother, she doesn't have to go anywhere," Bryan said as he walked down to them on the front porch. Freda turned to him with a deep frown on her face, "I don't remember inviting you here, Bryan, not after putting my only daughter in danger!" She snapped. "Claire is my wife and I
At the sight of general Benjamin bowing to him, the guards were confused and they all stepped back. The lady whispered, "Are they both mad?" "How dare you ask if the general is mad? You have crossed the line this time!" One of the guards snapped and slapped her across the cheek. Benjamin rose and turned to the men at the gate, "Quickly, open the gate and let the master through, I will deal with your incompetence later!" He ordered. The men, afraid of his wrath all hurried to open the gate and apologized as Bryan drove in. "I want them all fired, they don't deserve to be employed. They would simply take the words of a lowly lady rather than investigate for themselves, pathetic!" He snapped. Benjamin hurriedly said he will do as he has just instructed and make sure the securities no longer worked for the estate. His home was a lovely one and a butler received him from the entrance and they both stepped in. "Welcome to my humble home," he said and led Bryan inside. Quickly, he order
Freda sat in the backseat of the Benz that drove down slowly into the urban district. Claire was right beside her and she didn't look pleased at all. "Mum, why must I go and do my hair? I just got this done for the banquet and it cost a small fortune," she complained with a small pout. "You're always too concerned about money, Claire and that's because your husband has left us freaking impoverished!" She snapped and leaned on the window, rolling her eyes. Claire was mute on that, she could tell that the very mention of Bryan alone always put her mother in a bad mood. There was nothing he could do to ever prove himself to her mother. "You have to look good and show up for your date with Arnold," Freda announced just as they arrived at the spa. "Date?" Claire asked, her eyes bulging. She knew there was no way in hell her mother was talking about a date with her husband, then who could it be? "Yes, that's what I said, a date," her mother replied stiffly and opened the door, stepping
Mae and Juliet couldn't believe their ears or eyes as they saw what was happening right before them. "Bryan? The retard?" Mae asked in shock.Juliet looked through the bags again just to make sure that they weren't fake. But after perusing it for a few minutes, she couldn't deny that they were all authentic designer brands. The men ordered them to leave at once else they would have to refund for the exclusive booking. Since the spa had been paid a very heavy sum, they couldn't afford to lose it so they quickly sent Mae and Juliet off, apologizing as they did. Freda was surprised as they were finally left alone. "If you need anything, just let us know, your husband has paid fully for all our services," the attendant said with a smile as she walked away, "We're sorry for any inconveniences that the other customers might have caused you, ma'am." "What did I just witness?" Freda asked and turned to Claire with a confused face. "I don't know mother, I'm as shocked as you are," she repli
The guard looked at Bryan thoroughly, he didn't recognize him as any important man in the city. He'd never been to any of the functions that lord Derek often organized and so he didn't believe that Bryan had anything to offer the lord. "You're not welcome here, this place isn't for nobodies," the guard replied sternly. Bryan flipped open the suitcase at once and pulled out the document that contained a very important railway contract that the lord had been dying to get a hold of. "Your master runs a construction company and he's been vying for this contract from the governor for a very long time, I can help him get it," Bryan replied. The guard took the contract from him and looked at it with a frown on his face. He didn't know that the lord was looking for anything concerning a railway construction and so he believed that Bryan was just trying to boast. Angrily, he tore apart the documents and flung it in his face. "Get out of here before we throw you out, dude!" He snapped. Brya
The head of the Gudling family stood, staring at Bryan oddly. He was yet to look at the paper on husband's but he could already tell that it would be much like signing a deal with the freaking devil. Flipping through the papers, he looked at the button space where his signature was to be filled in. He saw the name of the Gudling family at the bottom and right beside that was the Oscar family emblem. "What?!" He snapped at once and the papers fell off his hands, handing on the floor in sheets. "All they want is a partnership, it doesn't matter how long, we can make the contract on your terms," Bryan tried to explain. Derek's eyes were wide as saucers as he glared at Bryan. "Did Maxwell and his useless cohorts put you up to this?!" He asked angrily. "Maxwell doesn't know that I'm here," Bryan replied and Derek shook his head vehemently. "Oh, I highly doubt that. Let me guess, he's sent all the members of the family and I now know their pathetic faces so he's decided to send someone
