"So, what is going on with the investigation, officer?" He asked in a calm and focused tone. He was in the police chief's office once more. The place was still very much the same as when Robert came with his grandfather some time ago."You mean Mr Mendev?" Officer McDave sighed, his eyes pinned to the table as he took a pen in his hand. From the way he acted, Robert suspected that the investigation had gone cold."Yes. Him. I haven't heard anything about it since the interview. Not even on the news.""Well sir, it has not been easy. In all my years of service in the police force, I've never had a case this difficult. At the scene of the crime, there wasn't a single foreign fingerprint that could hint at somebody. The murder weapon was nowhere to be found as well, even when we know what kind of gun was used. It is just really frustrating. And the most annoying this of all is that Mr Mendev's body is missing." He sighed."Are you serious right now? How is that even possible? Do you know
Robert was surprised to see Olivia. And so was the police chief, because he hadn't yet ordered for her release. He was even more surprised as to how she got in to the office in such manner without being held back. Robert immediately got to his feet and faced her."It was all a mix up, Olivia. I apologize for the inconvenience. I was planning to...""Oh! Don't tell me of any silly plans. I don't want to hear it." She began walking towards Robert slowly. "You had the guts to do this to me. And you think you would just wave me off? You are unbelievable, Robert. You..." Just then, three police men rushed in and held her hands behind her."Who told you that you could come in here?" One of the officers asked in frustration."Let me go! Let me go!" She yelled, wiggling her body, trying to set free from them. But there was no way she could outpower three cops. "Let go of me.""I'm really sorry for the disturbance, sir. She asked to use the restroom, but came here instead." One of the officers
"What do you mean by he was not breathing anymore?" He asked, trying hard to stay composed. "My grandfather is not dead. He is not dead!""Yes sir." Raymond said in a very collected manner, turning both Robert and Martha's attention to himself. "Sir Jude isn't dead. The doctors are treating him right now and he will be fine.""Yes. Yes. He is fine." Robert took a deep breath, as he looked around for a seat. Just then, the sound of his ringing phone interrupted him. He drew it out immediately and wasn't surprised to see that it was Juliet calling. "Hi there." He said quickly, trying to hide the worry in his voice."Hi babe. I've been expecting you for a while now. Aren't you coming anymore? Are you okay?""I'm fine. It's nothing.""Robert." She said slowly, wondering what was going on with him. The jolly spark his voice usually came with wasn't there. She knew something was wrong. "What do you mean it's nothing? You don't sound fine. Robert, talk to me.""It's..." He paused and sighed.
She paced from one side of the room to the other, murmuring inaudible words. No one could exactly tell what she was saying but they could tell how angry she was."Calm down, girl. Why are you stressing yourself over him? Don't worry.""It's just so annoying what he did to me. I can't get past it. It honestly makes me so mad when I remember it but I can't stop thinking about it.""Can you hear her, sweetheart?" Sophia laughed, placing her legs over Michael's thigh. Michael laughed in response and shook his head, without saying anything. He was trying to get his eyes off Olivia. He couldn't get past how attractive she was, but he was careful enough to stare without being noticed by his girlfriend, or the one whose being was drawing him in. "Just forget about him for now. Come here. Have something to eat.""Oh, that reminds me. My cook was supposed to bring my meal home yesterday. I wonder if she kept it in the fridge." Olivia said out of the blue."Then, call her and speak to her. Don't
"He is stable now." The nurse finally said. There was a texture in his voice that left Robert in so much doubt. Even though, Robert wanted to breath in since he felt relieved, he didn't know how long the feeling would last."Then, I can go see him, right? We can take him home today, right?""No." He said coldly, lowering his head a bit. "Mr Jude is in a stable condition now, but we don't know how long he will be, unfortunately.""What do you mean by that?" Robert asked at once, his eyes widening with curiosity. Juliet walked closer to him and placed her hand on his back. She could feel his breaths from his back because he was breathing heavily."I can't answer any more of your questions. The doctor will tell you more instead. But for now, your grandfather wants to see you. Excuse me." With that, he walked away.Immediately, Robert rushed in to the emergency unit and was shocked to find his grandfather in such a bad state. There were tubes fixed on to different parts of his body. He wa
The doctor took out the all the tubes of machines connected to his body, one after the other. Robert sat in a corner watching. Juliet had gone to get him something to drink so he was all alone now. He had ordered both Raymond and Martha to go home, after Martha had talked to the doctor about Jude."It seems like he's okay now. He doesn't need the machines anymore. And there isn't any wrong with him as it stands." The doctor confirmed and shook hands with Robert. "He will be awake soon. Just wait, alright? Take it easy." Robert nodded and forced a smile as the doctor left the room. He didn't say anything else. He walked to the bed and sat beside Jude."You aren't going to leave me now, will you?" I still want you with me, you know. I haven't even known you for a long time."Juliet stood by the door, watching her boyfriend talk to a sleeping man. She could feel her heart melt with pity and worry for him as he talked slowly. It was evident that he was trying his best to hold back the hur
Sophia walked in to the house with a little bag hanging from her shoulder. She looked angry, which was because of the hews her sister had shared to her. Throughout the journey back home, she refused to speak to michael. Her boyfriend, Michael being the changed man that he was, did not try to force her. Now, he followed behind her, with a bigger bag which probably contained her clothes. As usual, Mr and Mrs Richard sat in their living room. They were playing a board game and laughing uncontrollably when Sophia walked in. Roseline, her mother was the first to see her."Oh, my sweetheart. You're home." She rose from her seat and walked towards her, with her arms wide open for a hug. As she got closer, she saw the expression on her daughter's face and instantly knew something was wrong. "What is it, my child?" She asked taking her in her arms for a short hug. "Good evening, ma'am." Michael said softly. Roseline, who was so distracted by her daughter's mood didn't turn from her future so
Robert sat on the hospital bed, just beside his grandfather, waiting. He didn't exactly know who he was waiting for but he knew this person was seemingly very important. The doctor had come in earlier, and had declared that Jude was ready to be discharged. Robert felt relieved about that particular information and so was everyone else. Raymond, Martha and Juliet. Juliet sat in the couch, right opposite the bed, trying hard to stop herself from dozing off. But in the war against this sleepiness, she was losing badly. Robert noticed almost immediately and went to meet her."Babe." He said softly and placed a light kiss on her cheek. She turned to face him, with the sleepiest eyes ever. "You should go home now. You need to get some rest.""No. No, babe." She shook her head at once and sat upright. "I'll stay here. I'm not sleepy, I promise." She wiped her eyes, hoping that the sleepiness would wear off."What do you mean you're not sleepy? I saw you, babe. Come on, I'll take you home."
