Shocking News.

Hello, Mr. Smith." The old man introduced himself to Tobin. He went ahead to lead him inside the mansion.

Tobin was feeling a little scared even to enter such a big house, but he was interested in what the man had to say after referring to him as 'young master'.

He sat down on the mighty chair and was offered what to drink.

"No, I'm fine, please." Tobin said. He didn't even have the stomach to eat anything as fear and anxiety had paralyzed his insides.

"My name is Federico Alonzo, your family's butler." The man was saying but Tobin cut him off.

"Family butler? What are you saying please?"

"When you were young and little, you were the young master of this whole household, sire. But your family was betrayed." There was a scowl on his face. "We lost them all, sadly to an unfortunate accident."

"Wait, my parents?" Suddenly, his memory was blurred. How come he couldn't remember a damn thing?

"The shock must have left you without these memories. That's why you can't remember anything clearly from your past." Federico said.

Tobin couldn't disagree. But still, he needed proof to know that what the man was saying was the truth. So he kept quiet and let him continue.

"After everything went haywire, some of the maids in the household, a family of five, took you in. But they pretended as if they loved you, when only in reality, they wanted to take away all your money for themselves."

"Why did you let them take me then?" Tobin said.

"Because at that moment, I didn't know that they didn't love you genuinely. Plus it happened so fast. It wasn't until recently that I saw how badly they treated you."

Tobin frowned. "But the only family I've ever remembered living with are the Blanco household, my wife's family!" He said and the old man nodded.

"That is correct, young master. They took you in and pretended to love you only because of your wealth."

His heart ached and he suddenly felt weak. "They treated me wrongly, old man. They mistreated me and made me such a useless man! They wouldn't even give me any job in L.A! What have I done wrong to deserve such hate from them?"

"I am truly sorry to hear, young master. I hear one of them has lost his life to a terminal disease now." Federico said but it was more like a question.

Tobin nodded. "My father in law, yes. He died two years ago. Now, my mother in law has all the control in the world, taking inheritance from her late husband along with power too."

"They took your fortune and wealth illegally, thinking that they have won. But luckily for you sire, what they thought they've stolen is just a tip of the iceberg. Your main wealth has been kept hidden and safe by me all these years, waiting for you to come back and restore your lost glory."

"Wow this is too much to hear. Not that I'm not happy, I am."

"Truly, I am gratified that you're here now. So as the surviving heir of the Smith household, please take over your position as the family CEO."

Tobin was more than happy even. He still couldn't even contain the joy that was in his heart. But he needed to be smart about his reply.

"You know that I am still alive because I've been in hiding. Nobody knows that a member of the Smith household still survived till this day." He said and the old man nodded.

"You're right. It might not be such a good idea to put you out there just yet. Even your family as well, that's your wife."

"Yes. She's the only family I've got. And you now," he said with a smile. "Which is why I will keep my identity a secret for now."

After it seemed like they'd agreed, he asked his butler how about his family's assets.

"I'll prepare all the documents and forward it to your email today sir." The old man said.

"Also, can you make a transfer to an account of mine?"

"Yes. It will only be a token, just a few million dollars that will be under your name."

Tobin smiled at the idea. A few million dollars? For him??

They ended their meeting and Tobin bidded the old man goodbye. "We'll talk again so you can wait for further instructions." He said to him and the man nudged a low bow.

Tobin hurried back home to share the good news. He knew his wife would have been worried by now. The evening had dimmed even more, drawing nearer to nightfall.

He had to conceal his joy as he couldn't tell her the full story yet about who he really was, at least for the time being, to protect her from harm.

He was at the doorstep when he heard his wife's voice. She seemed worried. "Well what are we going to do now?"
