11. Mortal Enemies.

"Come in."

Jason pushed the door open and was shocked to find a beautiful woman seated in the office. "Uh I'm sorry, is this Jordan's office?" He asked, just to be sure he was in the right place.

"You have no idea how many times that has happened to me today. This is Jordan's office, and this," she pointed to herself. "...is Jordan Smith. What can I do for you?"

Right, Jordan was a gender neutral name, so why did he assume it was a man? "Um I'd like to apologize for uh…thinking you were a man." He said as he walked towards her desk.

"It's okay, I'm used to it."

"Okay. Well I'm Jason, Matthew said–"

"Jason? As in Jason Paul Decker??"

"Yes, I–"

"I'm terribly sorry sir!" She shot to her feet. "I had no idea it was you. I'm really sorry for speaking so casaully to you."

"It's cool, I don't mind. It's nice to meet you." He extended his hand to shake her but she bowed instead.

"The pleasure is all mine sir."

"Please don't call me sir, you'll make me feel uncomfortable." He was pleased he was finally getting so much respect but the sirs were getting too much.

"I'm so sorry si- I mean, Mr Decker."

Mr Decker was still better than being called sir, especially if it was by someone who looked almost older than he was. He just wished Matthew could do the same. "So, I'm guessing you know what I'm here for?"

"Of course sir. Mr Matthew already filled me in on the details. He also told me about the Deluxe Dance."

"That's fantastic. So, what do I need to do?"

"Well, we just have to change the signatory of every business under the industry to you name, and we introduce you to the chosen few."

By chosen few, she meant the few people Matthew said they could trust. Business partners and allies of his late parents.

"Alright."

"Yeah, and when we're done here, I'll show you to your office."

"Cool. Uh Miss or…?"

"Miss."

"Okay. Miss Smith, you have quite the number of people waiting to see you downstairs. I'm not sure it's advisable to let the clients wait for so long."

"Of course, I was waiting for you sir."

"Me?"

"Yes. Mr Matthew said for your first week of resumption, I have to show you how things are done. You have to be with me while I attend to clients so you can see how it's done, and you can get to know some of them."

"Alright, let's do this." Jason was feeling excited. It was his first real job since he graduated college.

"Okay sir."

"Again with the sir?"

"I mean Mr Decker."

"It's alright. Send in our first client."

Almost like the universe had planned it, their first client happened to be Phil and when he saw Jason, he was immediately consumed with rgae. "What is this filthy thing doing here?!

"Good morning sir." Jordan ignored his question.

"Good morning." He replied reluctantly.

He might be wrong, but Jason felt like something was up between them. Back at the reception as well, he also seemed upset when he said he wanted to see Jordan.

"Sir, would you like anything to drink?" Jordan asked, her eyes on Jason.

"Yes well I've been waiting for so long down there so I'd like something cold to ease myself." Phil replied proudly.

"I was talking to–" Jason raised his finger to his lips. Shh. She had been referring to him and not Phil. She responded with a slight nod and turned back to Phil. "How may I help you?"

"Yes, I would like an audience with your CEO."

"If I may ask, what reason?'

"Jordan, you–"

"This is an official premises Mr Garcia, I don't think it's advisable to address her so casually." Since he couldn't do much at the moment, Jason would have to be satisfied with poking him at every angle.

"What did you say to me?"

"I'm just saying. Miss Smith, wouldn't you prefer it if he addressed you with respect?"

"Mr Decker is right. You can address me however you please once we're out of these halls but during work hours, it's Miss Smith to you sir."

At that point, Phil had turned red with anger, and Jason was loving it. "You said you would like an audience with the CEO, is that right?" He questioned.

"Yes." Phil replied with gritted teeth.

"You have been working with this company for quite some time now, right?" He didn't reply so Jason went on. "Well my question is; have you ever seen the CEO in person?"

"Mr Decker is right." Jordan backed him up. And something told Jason she was also doing it to spite Phil. " You have been with our company for a few years now, and I'm sure you're aware that the CEO chooses to be anonymous. So why are you asking to see him now?"

"I have a business proposal I want to pitch to him." He spat out angrily.

"Starting from today, whatever you want to say to the CEO, you have to say to Mr Decker." Jordan declared, a cold look on her face.

"That is absurd!" Phil finally exploded. "Why must I relay my business to this trash?! How dare you?!"

"Sir, please keep your voice down or I'll have to call security."

"Jordan, how dare you speak to me like that? Have you forgotten who I am?!"

"Who you are doesn't matter, I'm simply relaying the message of my boss to you. So if you have a problem with that, you can take your business proposal elsewhere."

That was nowhere near the right way to address a client, especially one who claimed to have a lucrative business idea for them, but Jason didn't mind. He just loved seeing the look of disbelief on Phil's face.

"You little-" He raised his hand and Jason stopped him right before it could land on Jordan's face.

"Lay a hand on her and I'll make sure you rot in jail. Now, if you know you don't have anything valuable to say, I'll suggest you take your leave."

"Why you–"

"Now. Before I call the security."

"I'll make sure you regret this." He took one last look at Jordan before walking out of the office.
