10. Getting Settled In.

"Sire, you said you wanted to I see me?"

"Yes Matthew. I need your help with something."

"Anything Sire."

"Okay. I have this friend, and her father was arrested over a crime he knows nothing about. So I was wondering, is there a way you could help with that?"

"Do you have this person's information?"

"Uh his name is James Anderson, he owns a store with his wife but he also works at some company that supposedly deals with drugs or so."

"Hmm…I might not be able to do much with just his name, but if you're able to fetch any more information about him, it would aid greatly in investigating."

"Right, you're absolutely right. I'll gather as much info as I can."

"Very well sure. And Master Decker, when do you intend on taking over?"

"I thought we already discussed that."

"We agreed that your identity would be kept hidden for the sake of your safety, but you still have to work."

Matthew was right, he had to get familiar with the company and its staff. "okay, do I come see you or…?"

"There won't be any need for that. I have already informed your secretary of your arrival, so all you have to do is to go to the company and speak with Jordan Smith."

"Okay, thanks a lot. And sorry for bothering you with my personal issue."

"I live to serve you Sire."

"I'm still going to say thank you."

"Very well. Then I shall gladly accept your appreciation. Oh and before I forget, the Deluxe Dance is coming up soon, and I want you to attend."

"The Deluxe what?"

"Dance, Sire. It is a traditional ball held for the elite citizens of America. Attending the ball would be a great opportunity for you to make new connections that will help you in future."

"But how am I supposed to get in if nobody knows who I am?"

"Jordan will help you out in that aspect."

"Alright then, thanks again."

"It is my pleasure, sire."

"So, are you really going to the Deluxe Dance?"

"Yes mother, I'm going with Phil."

"It's quite unfortunate that I can't go with you, but anyway, for the sake of our company, you have to mingle with people. And not just ordinanary people, I want you to talk to the best of the best."

"I'll do my best mother."

"And remember, you are not married to Phil, so do not let him hinder your chances of meeting a better suitor."

"Mother!"

"What? Are you already planning on marrying Phil? I accepted him because he's rich, not because I actually like him. If you find someone who's richer, do you think I'll turn him down? Don't be silly Lauren.

We are the Kings family, we don't mingle because of love, we do it for the money and the power. Just look at your father, do you think he rose to the position of Executive Director of the Sterling Medical Groups by falling in love?"

"No, mother."

"Of course he didn't! Now, be a good girl and do what mommy says. Okay?"

"Yes mother."

"Good. Now, run along, you should be getting your outfit ready."

Once again, Jason was suited up and headed to a company, and not just any company, the Decker Industries, one of the biggest companies in the United States. The only difference this time was that he wasn't going for an interview, and it was his company.

When he arrived, Jason had to take a moment to admire the building. It was huge, which was expected of a company worth billions of dollars. He was Jason Paul Decker, the CEO of the Decker Industries, his brain reminded him, and a smile worked its way to his lips. It was unbelievable.

He steadily made his way into the building, still admiring the exquisite decor of the place.

"What is a nobody like you doing at a place like this?"

Jason's smile vanished the instant he heard that voice. It was him.

"Well, if it isn't the man who stole my wife. Fancy seeing you here."

"Well people like me usually do business with important people. Here to apply for a job? Maybe if you beg me, I'll recommend you as a janitor, or maybe an errand boy?"

"I appreciate the kind gesture, but your recommendation isn't needed." He walked over to the reception. "Good morning," he greeted with a smile and she returned the gesture.

"Good morning sir, how may I help you?"

"He's a nobody, there's no use to call him sir!" Phil said with a one sided smile but she ignored him.

"I'm here to see Jordan Smith."

Phil approached the reception and pulled Jason by the shirt. "Why the hell would you see Jordan?!"

"Why the hell are you so interested in my matters? Have you fallen for me?"

Phil frowned at Jason's statement and went back to his seat.

"Sir, I'm sorry but you'll have to wait for a while. They're all waiting to go in as well."

So after all his big talk, he was waiting by the reception to see his secretary. Jason smiled. "Tell him it's Jason Paul Decker."

"Fool! What good will hearing your name do?"

"Sir, this is an official building. Please keep your voice down." The receptionist snapped at Phil, then she turned back to Jason. "Give me a minute sir."

She called someone and mentioned his name then hung up almost immediately. "You may go in sir. It's on the sixth floor. Ask anyone and they'll show it to you."

"Wait, are you telling me this idiot gets to go before me? Do you know how long I've been waiting?! This is an insult to my personality.

Do you know the relationship my company has with yours?!

What can this idiot do? I mean, the loser's probably just here for a job and yet he gets to go up first?!

That's preposterous!"

"Sir, please calm down. You'll get to go also, this is just urgent."

"Oh come on Phil, don't be a sore loser, it doesn't suit you." Jason smiled, feeling proud of himself as he walked towards the elevator.

Once he was completely settled in, he was going do something about him.
