24. Moving In.
"Father, may I have a word with you?"

"Not now dear, I'm quite busy with–"

"I'm afraid it can't wait, father." Every since the ceremony night where Lauren found out about her father's mistress, she had been thinking of a way to talk to him about it. She didn't say a word to her mother because she was hoping to hear her old man's explanation first. But everytime she asked to see him, he would claim he was busy. Well not this time.

"Hmm," he sighed as he already knew what the subjet matter of their discussion would be. "Very well, come in. And shut the door behind you."

Her father's study was widely spaced so they didn't have to worry about any eavesdroppers. There was only one chair by the table so Lauren proceeded to seat herself on the reading table. "Father–"

"Before you begin, I want you to know that I only did it to secure my place in the society." Antony said in defense of himself.
