40. The Break Up.

"Thank you." Lauren said, breaking the deafening silence that had been sitting between her and Jason for almost ten minutes.

"For what?"

"I never thought I would become the CEO of my mother's company, it was like a dream I never even dared to have, and yet you made it happen, and so easily too. I really appreciate it."

Jason wanted to reply to her coldly or tell her he didn't do it for her and that it wouldn't change anything between them but after a brief thought, he decided to go with something entirely different. "You're welcome."

"It's such a beautiful night, isn't it?"

"I can't tell, I'm much too focused on the traffic ahead." He replied simply without taking his eyes off the steering wheel.

If someone saw him, they would think he was driving on a busy highway or something. But in reality, his mind was stuck on Erika. The more he remembered their fight, the angrier he felt at himself. Why would he say something so careless?
