Alex found himself in a dimly lit room, but to his surprise, he wasn't being treated roughly. Instead, he was kept in a tidy room. Before long, a servant girl entered the room, accompanied by two burly men who resembled the ones who had kidnapped him. The girl placed a tray on the table in front of Alex and then bowed slightly before leaving.
Confused, Alex watched as the servant girl walked away. He couldn't understand why he was being treated so nicely when he clearly remembered being kidnapped and brought here. His gaze shifted to the meal in front of him, and the delicious aroma made his stomach growl.
Curiosity got the better of him, and he cautiously lifted the lids of the covered plates. To his delight, he discovered seared filet mignon with truffle sauce, along with his favorite roasted potatoes and steamed vegetables. The anticipation of the mouthwatering meal made his stomach churn, but he couldn't help but be cautious.
"What if it's poisoned?" he silently questioned himself. It seemed too good to be true that someone would go through all this trouble just to treat him well. He wrinkled his nose, torn between his hunger and his suspicions.
"Eat, Alex," a voice suddenly spoke from behind him, causing him to turn around. "You need to regain your strength, and I remember roasted potatoes and vegetables are your favorite." Alex's eyes met the smiling face of an old man, and he couldn't help but smile back.
"Calm down, Alex," Sir Martins said calmly as he watched Alex devour his meal. He took a seat in the empty chair across from Alex and observed him hungrily munching on the food.
"You can never get enough of roasted potatoes, can you? You haven't changed," Sir Martins chuckled. Alex nodded in agreement, still eating hurriedly to satisfy his hunger.
Sir Martins signaled his security to leave them alone, and they immediately exited the room. Alex looked up and watched them go before asking, "How did you know I was arrested?"
"We were already close when the incident happened, and I didn't want the media to catch wind of our connection. It would have complicated my plans," Sir Martins explained to Alex.
"Brock is such a nuisance, I swear," Alex managed to say with food in his mouth. "I've taken care of him," Sir Martins assuredly replied, causing Alex to narrow his gaze at him.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked, his curiosity piqued.
Sir Martins laughed. "He's a gambler and a cheat, currently at the casino trying to double his money. Although I'm not sure what he intends to use the money for."
Alex's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you find out?" he asked, confused. Even Alex, who lived with Brock, didn't know his whereabouts.
"He's a regular compulsive gambler, and I know his patterns when he wants to double his money. He knows how to cheat his way through accurately. But he's in for a surprise," Sir Martins calmly explained, capturing Alex's keen interest.
Alex wanted to inquire about Sir Martins' plan against Brock but decided against it as his mind raced with thoughts about his father. "What happened to Father? He's not that old to die," Alex asked.
Alex noticed Martin's demeanor turn pale. "I'm not sure, but I believe he was murdered. You know your father was wealthy and had many enemies."
Carefully watching Martin's reaction, Alex was keenly aware of his father's affluence and the rivalries surrounding him. "Who do you suspect?" Alex inquired, his gaze fixed on Martin.
Martin hesitated before speaking, "Your dad made a secret video of his will, leaving 80% of his properties to you, including ownership of the Styles Consortium. Ten percent goes to Liam, your brother, and five percent to charity and me." Martin sighed, clearly troubled by the situation.
"So, he knew he was going to die soon?" Alex questioned, to which Martin nodded in agreement.
Frustrated, Alex half-yelled at Martin, "You're his trusted personal assistant, you should have some clue!" He couldn't understand why Martin seemed clueless about what had happened.
Martin explained, "It's a well-calculated plan, and it seems like everyone is involved. That's why I reached out to you. Liam has already taken over as CEO of Styles Consortium, using a fake will with the help of your father's lawyer, Barrister Kate." Alex sighed in exasperation, realizing the seriousness of the situation.
"This is serious," Alex managed to say, looking at Martin and sensing his unease. He ordered Martin to speak up, wanting to know more. Martin confessed, "I had to play along to understand the game and the feud involved." He looked at Alex, hoping he would fight for justice for their father.
Understanding Martin's position, Alex nodded and said, "I'm in." Martin smiled gratefully and immediately revealed his plan, "There's a board meeting tomorrow, and we'll announce you as the new CEO. I've already made arrangements and plans."
Alex smiled, envisioning what tomorrow would bring. He wasn't afraid; he was determined to expose everyone involved in his father's death.
The following day, Alex and Martins arrived at the company in a sleek, dark BMW. As they parked the car, Alex couldn't help but feel a rush of nostalgia as he gazed at the impressive and modern architecture of the building. Memories of his time spent here with his father and Sir Martins flooded his mind, and even after fifteen years, he still admired the luxurious and sophisticated atmosphere."You still remember what the company looks like," Martins remarked, impressed."Just a little," Alex replied, clapping his hands together and feeling slightly out of place in his casual attire. Despite Martins arranging a fitted tuxedo for him, he insisted on wearing his own clothes."Are you sure about this?" Martins questioned, gesturing towards Alex's choice of clothing. "We can do this another time, you know." Just then, one of the security guards opened the car door, and both Alex and Martins stepped out."Yes, I prefer it this way for a fresh start," Alex affirmed, determined to wear casua
Brock felt uneasy, his stomach churned as sweat formed on his forehead. This business proposal was his opportunity to keep his secrets hidden. The profits from the deal would help him cover his tracks.Unfortunately, yesterday he had a major loss at the casino, completely ruining his plans. He had a feeling that something was off because he had insider information for a sure win. "Baby, can we please get out of here? They can all go to hell," Sophie complained, gripping his hand tightly. In a fit of anger and frustration, Brock forcefully pulled his hand away from her."Find your own way back," Brock shot at her, sliding into the driver's seat and slamming the door shut. "Baby, I'm sorry," Sophie lamented, attempting to open the car door, but it was already locked from the inside. Brock started the car and sped away, leaving Sophie behind."Babe... Bab..." Sophie's calls were drowned out by the sound of the speeding car. She was now breathing heavily, her anger growing. She knew Broc
Alex was pacing back and forth as beads of sweat formed on his forehead and he moved restlessly."What do we do?" Martins asked as he stared at Alex who looked really restless.Of course, he should be. His wife had been kidnapped and he had no idea what would have been going on with her right now. This was something he had never imagined in all of his lifetime. That there would be a time when he wouldn't be able to save his wife from all these troublesWhat if her captors had already done away with her at this point?Had they hurt her already? Why had her captors not made an attempt to reach out to him yet. That was a point where he didn't even want to venture in. He didn't want to think of that because if he thought of that, he could possibly have a heart attack.."I have no idea, I'm as lost as you are." Alex said as he clenched and unclenched his fist gritting his teeth."I'm really confused and I'm trying to think on what to do but my head is falling to pieces." Alex stated as he
Alex saw the way Martin's lips curl in distaste at the way and he didn't bother to ask why. "So what do I do?" He inquired from the kidnapper. The kidnapper smacked his lips, he had Alex where he wanted him and was very happy that things were going in his direction. He adjusted his mask to cover his eyes and his mic so that no one would be able to guess that he was the one who was behind it. Meanwhile, Brielle watched her kidnapper grinning, it was obvious that Alex had agreed to the deal and she heaved a sigh of relief before being overcome with a deep sense of gratitude. Never would she have imagined that he would agree to such a crazy deal. At least, she knew that she wouldn't do it if reverse was the case hence her appreciation for what he did. "You will hand over the rights of the company to me. Then, will we talk about what next to do." "Great." Alex replied. Then a thought suddenly struck his mind. What if he was being pranked or lied to? There was no way that he was going
Brock held his jaw and his eyes widened in alarm when Alex's hand made contact with his cheek. Who could imagine that such a weakling like Alex could pack such a mean punch. "You hit me?!" He muttered incredulously and Alex nodded. "What an effrontery?! He replied angrily and Alex stared at him impishly. He didn't have time to reply to anyone that decided to be useless. "You don't want me to punch you more in the face, do you?" He retorted.Brock's eyes widened even considerably in shock. This man before him was different. He wouldn't imagine that Alex would tell him off. Such a weakling! He thought. It was impulsive of Alex to strike him across the cheek.Realizing that he was on the ground, and was at a disadvantage, he picked himself up. "You'll hear from my lawyers for assaulting me. I will make sure that you don't go Scot free."Alex scoffed at him, he didn't have time for the balderdash that Brock wanted to project to him. "I wish you all the best." "Are you kidding me?" Broc
Grandma and all the members of the clan were present. He didn't even know that Brielle had so many family members. Alas, he was being schooled. He walked in gently. The former Alex would have been intimidated by the numerous eyes that threatened to swallow him but not him, he had been reinvented. He climbed the small stairs, "I can see that there's a family gathering." He spoke as he walked further. Grandma stared at the boy in front of her, she didn't understand why he was so proud. "Aren't you even going to greet us?" She inquired impishly. He stared at her with slightly raised brows and nodded, " My bad, good afternoon, grandma." He greeted. All the cousins and relatives stared at him. He was rude, they thought but he couldn't care less for their thought because it didn't bother him one bit."Are you going to greet only Grandma?" One of the women had the guts to demand and he stared at them with utmost contempt in his eyes. "Having people staring at you with judgment in their eye
Alex recited the number in his head, ignoring every distraction that threatened to weigh him down as he marched towards the end of the road. His mind and heart were calculating so that he didn't make any mistakes. He looked around, there was no cab in sight simply because their house was not located at the heart of town and secondly, it was the second to the last house on the street. Hence, he continued his journey hoping that he didn't forget the number. Finally, a cab appeared and he decided to go away. He flagged it down and immediately he entered the cab quietly"Where are you going sir?" He muttered the words and the man set out, wondering why his passenger was acting weird mumbling things to himself. "May I turn on the music?" The cab driver asked him. He merely shrugged so as not to make a mistake in any of the numbers. Finally they arrived at the company and he rushed out, paid the man and walked into the building.Employees greeted him again, sitting straight in fear for t
"How did you allow these people to operate? It's unfair to the health of the workers don't you think? Don't tell me that you weren't aware of the state of this place because I sure won't believe that. You must have eaten here twice or thrice." The owner of the cafeteria came out of her office with a remorseful look but Alex wasn't having it. " Mrs...?" He raised a brow."Martha." "Mrs Martha I have a question for you and you will answer honestly. How long have you been cooking here?" He inquired and the woman's gaze flickered to Martins who didn't bother to look her way. He was in support of whatever judgment that was about to be passed on her because this wasn't the first strike. She had been warned severally with the promise that she would change and the emotional blackmail she put the old man through making him reconsider his decisions on firing her and that time he didn't want to sound like a bad person but now, she had finally met her match and he was here for all of it. He f
