Chapter 6: A divorce

“Is there something you aren’t telling me?”

Sophia shook her head briefly. “Nothing boss. I know nothing but I heard she’s currently not in Orange Park,’” she explained.

Derek released a sigh. “Alright, thank you. I have to leave now. I will call you later,” he assured.

.

Amelia walked inside the living room, with the flower in her hand and a bright smile on her face.

She stopped suddenly when she saw Zayn, a bit skeptical. What was he doing there?

“What are you doing here?”

“Why don’t you tell us?” Ann fired at her. “What audacity do you have to slap Zayn? Why did you decide to make an enemy out of him in this situation that we are currently in!” she yelled.

Ethan scoffed. “It looks like she’s in trouble as always. I wonder how our company is going to progress with her around.”

Amelia released an exasperated sign and looked at Zayn. “So, you came here to complain about that?”

Zayn stood up, with a sly smile on his face. “You know that I could destroy your company because of it? You should be grateful that I only came to report you to your family.”

“So, you are going to keep talking like that to him? Where are your manners!” Ann yelled just as her gaze went to the flower that Amelia was holding. “Where did you get the flowers?”

Amelia released a relieved sigh. “I got it from the owner of Aircastle. I'm just coming from the company,” she revealed.

“Owner of Aircastle?” Ethan couldn’t believe his ears. “I heard that a new president is taking over.”

Zayn felt a stab of annoyance at this. “That’s a lie! There’s no way that can happen.”

“Yes, I’m sure of it as well. Why will the owner of Aircastle give you a flower? Prove it to us!” Ethan voiced out.

‘Yes!” Zayn said quickly. “There should have been a note with the president's stamp especially since you claimed he gave you this flower in Aircastle.”

Amelia sighed. “I don’t need any of you to confirm anything for me because I'm sure this flower is from him.”

Zayn huffed. “Prove it! If you are telling the truth!”

“Prove it!” Ann said suddenly and took the flower from Amelia.

Indeed, there was a short note in the flower. Amelia hadn’t even noticed it earlier until Ann took it out.

“Is it this note?” Ann muttered.

Zayn took it from her and his eyes went wide with shock at what he was looking at.

“Why are you so shocked? Is it real?” Ethan bombarded Zayn.

Zayn didn’t answer and Ethan had to move closer to check the note out. “It’s really true! It’s the owner of Aircastle," Ethan yelled.

“Seriously? It is real!” Ann couldn’t believe it. The owner of Aircastle took an interest in her daughter. It was amazing.

“Now that you know, I am free to go inside, right?” she threw a nasty glare at Zayn and picked up her flower before she started inside, but Ann had another thing on her mind. She hurried after Amelia.

Zayn had never felt so embarrassed in his entire life. He thought he had really gotten Amelia. How could the owner of the popular and successful company of Aircastle step in at this moment? He cleared his throat meaningfully to get Ethan’s attention. “I have to leave now,” he said and without waiting for Ethan to say anything, walked out of the house.

“How could it be?” Ann heard Ethan mutter before she caught up with her daughter.

“Why didn’t you say it earlier? That the owner of Aircastle was the one that gave you the flower? Did you guys meet? What did you guys talk about?” Ann bombarded, with a bright smile on her face.

Amelia nodded once. “He didn’t give me the flower directly, the VP did. I haven’t met him yet but Aircastle planned to give me an order worth 20 million dollars,” she announced.

Happiness surged through Ann and she whooped with delight. “Seriously? Grandmother would be so pleased to hear this.”

She was even very happy because Aircastle has been ranked as the first of the richest and most successful companies in the city. This meant that the owner would be very wealthy. It meant a nice start for her daughter.

“Mom,” Amelia called suddenly, jerking Ann out of her thoughts. “I need to take a shower. I have been out since morning. I need my rest,” she stressed.

Ann nodded obediently, a bright smile still dancing on her face. “Take a shower and rest. Then, we could discuss more.

Ann knew what she wanted to discuss with Amelia already. She wanted to find a way for Amelia to marry this mysterious president. At least, he was wealthier than Zayn and with that huge money at stake, she wouldn’t have to worry about her evil brother.

“Amelia, I need to talk to you,” Derek said suddenly just as Amelia turned to leave.

She was forced to turn toward Derek with a blank expression on her face. She wasn’t at all intrigued about Derek. “What is it all about? As you can see, I’m tired after so much stress from getting a contract. I’ve been the one going around even though you were the one that placed me in this difficult situation,” she complained.

Ann fumed at the sight of him but decided not to say a word.

Derek was confused at what Amelia had said. “But-,” Derek started but was cut off rudely by Ann who couldn’t contain the hatred she felt for Derek anymore.

“Did you know that the owner of the Aircastle company gave Amelia a bunch of flowers?”

Derek looked down at the flower that Amelia was holding tight to her chest like a shield. “Yes, I’m aware. And it was-“

“Don’t you get it?” Ann yelled, interrupting Derek again. Actually, Derek was about to let them know that he was the one that told Fred to arrange the flower for Amelia. “You must divorce my daughter right now in case the owner of Aircastle wants to ask Amelia out for a date. You can’t be an obstacle to her forever!” she yelled at him, in pain and frustration. “Do you hear that? Do you?” she bombarded him annoyingly without waiting for him to talk.

Amelia couldn't take it anymore. “Enough!” She screamed suddenly.
