Chapter 8: Disregarded son-in-law

“I’m waiting,” Kevin reminded suddenly.

Ann let out an exasperated sigh, she knew what she had to do at that moment to avoid trouble. It was Derek’s fault anyways. If he had agreed to the divorce, Amelia would have been able to get a nice and rich suitor. Then, Kevin wouldn’t have the gut to threaten her. Kevin knew how much the family’s company meant to her and that she would do anything to make sure Amelia doesn’t lose it.

Besides, she just needed to keep Kevin shut for a while. She would force Derek to get a divorce and she would make sure Amelia marries a rich man.

“Alright, I will call you when I’m less busy. Don’t call me until then.”

“No problem, Ann. I will be waiting but I might be forced to come over to your house if you don't call me back before the end of today,” he reminded her and hung up.

Ann sneered at this. She felt a stab of annoyance. It was Derek’s fault anyways and she was going to make sure that he pays for it.

She stomped out of her room in anger and made towards Amelia’s room, looking for Derek. She was fuming and the only thing in her mind was to send Derek out of the house that day. She could do that since Amelia and Derek have decided not to get divorced.

Fortunately for her, Derek was moving towards her. He seemed to be coming from Amelia’s room.

“Hey! Where do you think you are going?” she stopped in front of him suddenly which also put a halt to Derek’s steps.

Derek blinked once, then twice. “Is something wrong, ma’am?”

“You tell me! Go ahead and tell me how you have been planning to keep my daughter from disobeying me. How you have turned her mind from divorcing you. What have you been feeding her with?” she accused him with cold stares. If looks could kill, Derek would be 6 feet under.

Derek released an exasperated sigh. He was so fed up with everything, of Ann's continuous nagging and Amelia's betrayal.

“You are a nobody, Derek. There’s nothing Amelia wants from you. You are the one tying her down and that will end today. Because you are leaving this instant!” she announced with scorn.

“You can’t blame me if Amelia doesn’t want to divorce me,” he muttered even though it seemed weird to him. Why would Amelia disregard him so much but still doesn’t want to divorce him?

“But you can spare us the details by agreeing to it. Do you think being my daughter’s husband would eventually help your financial status? Is that why you are being stubborn?” she demanded and when Derek opened his mouth to talk, she cut in quickly. “I demand no explanation from you. All you have to do at this moment is to leave this house.”

Derek shook his head briefly. “I love your daughter, ma’am and I’m ready to make her happy. Please, don’t send me away. I have nowhere to go,” he pleaded softly.

He wanted to tell Anna about his recovery but she wouldn’t even listen to him. Maybe, just maybe if they were being a little patient, they would see the truth when he eventually shows up as the CEO of Aircastle. Then, Ann would let him be. She would eventually be convinced that he could take care of Amelia.

“Shut up! I’m done listening to your life story, you pauper! Stay away from my daughter! You have nothing to offer anyways! Leave now or I will be forced to call the securities on you,” she threatened.

“Please, ma’am. I’m still your daughter’s husband. You can’t do this to me.’

Ann gave him a hot slap, her eyes glaring with anger. “Shut up! I just told you to stop saying that! You are nothing to my daughter! In fact, my daughter has a lot more capable suitors than you are. You just have to leave her life for her to make this decision.”

Derek released an exasperated sigh. He didn’t even know what he was supposed to do at that moment. Even though he had been called back to his family, he still hasn’t settled down. Besides, he loved Amelia and doesn’t want to leave her just yet.

Ann saw his hesitation and took her call. She placed a call to one of the security guards. “Hello, come inside right now with the rest of the men!” she ordered and hung up. “You can continue standing there. If you don’t walk out on your own, I will have people to help you.”

“Please, give me one more chance, I will show you that I’m capable of taking care of Amelia.”

Within minutes, three men moved closer to them.

“Ma’am, is there anything we can do to help you?” One of the leading men asked.

Ann ignored Derek’s pleas and looked at the men. “Drag him out. Do everything that you can to make sure he leaves this house in five minutes. I don’t even want him to have the time to take anything from this house. He didn’t come here with anything anyways, it’s only fair he walks out with nothing. See to it!” she ordered.

The men moved closer to Derek with dark frowns on their faces, something that shows they meant business and were not ready to play around.

Just as one of the men touched Derek, he looked up at them with a straight face as hot anger surged through him. “Let me go, this instance!” he muttered thickly.

“Or what?” one of the men taunted. “What are you going to do?”

Derek glanced at Ann as a series of actions raced across his mind. He knew what to do exactly. Derek might have acted like a fool all these while because of his father but he was skilled martially. He trained from the best master and bringing the three securities down would be like a cakewalk to him.
