Chapter 99: Faced with the devil

Shock kept him motionless and speechless for a moment.

He was too late.

Maribel was on the floor, vomiting blood while Nick was beside her, in tears.

"I told you not to come," Nick muttered in anguish as he held Maribel in his arms.

"Clara!" Derek yelled uncontrollably and raced closer to her. "Clara!"

He zoomed off for a few minutes as he beheld Maribel. The pain in her eyes or the tears that seemed to be coming out non-stop.

Derek looked at Nick. "What the fuck happened? Where's Morris?"

Nick opened his mouth to talk but the words were suddenly stuck in his throat. "Gone, he's gone. He poisoned her."

Derek's heart almost stopped beating. "What! Poisoned?"

"Yes, and he left a few minutes ago. You should have seen his car. He made the security guards stay outside until Clara was dead," Nick explained.

Derek remembered the car that zoomed past him earlier.

Without thinking much, he scooped her into his arms and looked at Nick. "Open the damn door!" He was literally screaming.
