Chapter 11

"Is a party really necessary, Aunty? I mean I just want to stay low. I don't want the media on my face Aunty" Alex said to his Aunt politely.

His aunt had called him to inform him of the party she planned on holding because of Alex. A party showing the whole city and the substantial and affluent people of the city that he was now the CEO of Hugh, and also the Hugh family's long-lost heir.

But Alex wasn't so keen on the idea of a party because he didn't want to be seen just yet by Carla, Dawson, or even Carla's family or anyone who knew him with them. He wanted to deal with them secretly until he revealed himself once they were broken. He knew the party would put him in the spotlight and that would kinda twat his plans to get back at them.

"I don't really want a party, Aunty. But if you must parade me then can we hold a close party and no media? Please?" Alex inquired of his aunt warmly.

"Fine, if that's what you want dear. But I can't guarantee you that the media won't be there but I will try." And she ended the call.

He dropped the phone as soon as the call disconnected and rubbed his eyes with his thumb and his index finger. He sighed heavily and contorted his face. He looked over at Lucas.

"We should go over to the houses. I already looked through some of the ones that were sent to me, and there's a particular one that's tingling my curiosity." Alex said to Lucas, grabbing his phone and covering the folders that were open on his desk.

"Sure, I will just tell your driver to bring the car around," Lucas answered back. A few minutes later, they were on the way to Alex's penthouse of choice.

Meanwhile, in Mr. Cason's home office, one can hear him yelling and throwing furniture and decor all over the place in a rage. Sounds of things being thrown could be held all over the house by his staff.

"That bitch Eleanor! How dare she cook up this hoax. Oh!…, I know that woman always hated me and this just proves it!."

"Who's that little riffraff she cleaned up and presented to the board? Those stupid board members decided to fall for her lies just because of what?! Eh! A stupid flimsy paper showing that wretched little boy is the heir!"

"No! Not while I'm alive! Not after everything I have done and put in place to become the CEO. To own it all. No! That little boy can't come and throw me out just like that. Never!" Mr. Cason paced from one spot in his home office to the other talking out loud. Just then, his wife, who heard the ruckus, ran to his office to find out what the problem was.

"What is going on darling? This place is a total mess. What happened in the meeting with stakeholders? The wife asked, trying to calm her husband down.

But Mr. Cason didn't even acknowledge the wife's presence. She was always an insignificant person in his life. She is always behind the scenes except when it's required of her by her husband to show herself at the parties they attend.

Mrs. Cason was a woman in her thirties, married off by her family in an arranged marriage to Mr. Cason. She was a young, brunette-haired lady with a beautiful figure. Tall and poise with a kind heart. But even with all these qualities, she was nothing to her husband. She was invincible to him.

"What the fuck are you doing here?! I thought I made it clear to you, never to come into my office ever again." Mr. Cason fumed at her, walking closer to her at a fast pace.

She started hyperventilating out of fear of what her husband might do to her in such a rage. "I just… Just… wanted to know what was happening because of the ruckus I heard," She said, stuttering.

Her husband stopped right before her with a wicked sneer on his face. "I'm sure you're happy inside you. Right?! Your prayers have been answered. Your terrible husband finally got what he deserved huh?!"

She simply ignored every other statement he made so as not to infuriate him the most. "Happy about what darling," She asked politely.

"I'm no longer the fucking CEO!. That's what the stupid meeting that you heard me going was all about. That witch Eleanor took everything from me after all the work I had done for that wretched family."

"I gave everything I had, all the plans I made, all down the drain."

"I don't understand. But Williams already made you the CEO in his will. So how come it was taken away from you?" The wife asked, looking confused at her husband.

But he just moved closer to her and grabbed her chin tightly with his palm.

"How could you ever comprehend what is happening? Huh! With that mustard seed brain of yours. Beautiful and yet no ounce of intelligence whatsoever."

"You're hurting me, Frank. Please" She cried out but her husband held her face and squeezed more than before.

"All these luxuries adorning you were bought by your husband's plans. By me!" He spat and pushed her face from him.

"I should have been more thorough with my ways. That bastard! I paid him handsomely and he couldn't even do a proper job of getting rid of him. I should have done the job myself."

His wife who was still trying to massage the pain she felt on her chin heard what her husband just said and gasped at the thought of what her husband meant.

"What do you mean by that!? What did you do Frank?" She gasped for breaths and her chest heaved greatly with emotions. She knew her husband was devious and that scared her tremendously.

Mr. Cason quickly recollected himself realizing he had said something he wasn't supposed to say out loud, he rubbed his temples in frustration, went to his disrupted desk, took his phone, and walked past his wife brushing her out of his way, and he stormed out of his home office.
