Chapter 10

Mr Carson stormed out of the meeting in anger. He never expected that Mr Williams had an heir tucked away somewhere waiting to emerge one day. He left the meeting and a few of his friends who were also board members, who shared his opinion on the matter, left with him.

Mr Graham sighed heavily. "Well, that's that. He looked at Eleanor and back to the remaining board members.

"Mr. Cason is right in a way Mr Graham, you can't just spring this on us. Why wasn't this read or made known the first time the will was read? This is a huge responsibility and money and shares are at stake." Said one of the members of the board.

Mr Graham spoke with them trying to make them understand and see reasons why that part of the will was never said or read. He told them it was all part of Mr. Williams's orders and that he was just simply obeying them. Alex and his aunt Eleanor kept quiet to allow Mr. Graham to do his job. After much talk, they finally agreed with what was written in the will.

Mr Graham brought out a big folder containing papers for Alexander to sign. He got up from his seat and walked closer to Mr. Graham, signing every paper making him the official owner of Hugh Conglomerates.

The board members remaining witnessed it all. They congratulated Alex and left the meeting hall. Just then, Eleanor beckoned to Mr. Graham and asked if he had prepared the papers she asked for.

"What papers Aunty? Alex asked calmly shifting his gaze from his aunt to Mr. Graham in a loop.

"They are legal papers. It just indicates that my 10% shares are now yours. Just sign wherever your signatures are required."

"What! You're kidding, right?! Why would you do that? I mean I already am the heir. You don't need to do that, "Said Alex.

"I don't have any use for it. I only held onto my shares because I didn't want Mr. Cason to have it all. I'm at peace now knowing it's all going to you, as it should." Eleanor answered back to Alex reassuringly.

Mr. Graham gave Alex a pen and he signed all the necessary papers that needed signing, sealing everything. Mr. Graham left after.

Alexander was led to his office by the VP right after his aunt left. His office was huge. It was a luxurious space made especially for the CEO of the company. It smelled of mahogany and wealth.

"These contain different professional architects who are known to be the best for you to choose from. They've worked with this company for a long while. So they are highly recommended." The secretary said as she walked in on the VP and Alex.

"It's meant for you, sir. Mr. Cason redecorated the space right after he took over and we thought you would want to do that too." The VP said immediately he noticed the confusion on Alex's face as to what the secretary meant. The VP was a kind and gentle man.

"No, the office is perfect the way it is, if the need for change arises in the future, then perhaps I would but I'm okay with it for now" Alex said to them. They both nodded and left.

Alex inhaled in and out and smiled to himself. He was so happy. "Pinch me! It feels like a dream." All this wealth belonged to him and he could do with it as he wished. But in all the happiness in his head, a flash of Carla and Dawson and Carla's family came to his mind, and he suddenly remembered what they did to him, he felt cold instantly.

He went out to the outer room to speak to a secretary and saw no one was there. He went back to his office to make a call and then, he heard a knock on his door. It was Lucas. He came into the office right after Alex gave the come in order. Lucas Graham was a lawyer like his father and was taking over his father's firm because his father was retiring. So it made sense to Alex for Lucas to continue where his father stopped in being the Hugh family lawyer.

"Just the person I wanted to call. It seems I don't have a secretary, Lucas."

"My father said your grandfather's secretary and PA for years was fired by Mr. Cason. He worked alone in those few weeks he was the CEO." Lucas answered.

"Anyways here are the documents you asked for concerning Dawson finery. Once you sign, our funding will be taken away from him immediately." Lucas said placing files stapled together in front of Alexander.

Alex just smiled because he knew this was just the beginning in his revenge against Dawson. "How would he know that his precious funding is taken away from him?" He asked.

"Normally, he would be called in for a meeting or sent an email. But frankly, it depends on how you want it to go." Lucas said politely.

Just then, the VP whose name was Mr. Luis came back in with another person, a lady in her forties. She was the head of the HR department. They brought in more documents for Alex.

"I'm Anna Sir and I'm already working to get you the perfect secretary. I have a list already…" She was caught short by Alex"

"I want the former secretary who worked with my grandfather for years." Alex said sternly. "Find him. I don't care how, but find him."

"Yes sir" She dropped all the documents she held on Alex's desk and exited his office.

"Mr. Luis right?"

"Yes Sir" Mr. Luis answered politely.

"Find me a temporary secretary already working here and set a meeting with Dawson winery immediately" Alex commanded.

"Right away sir" Mr. Luis said and left them.

Alexander looked at his desk and saw the large folders containing documents he needed to peruse. He sighed heavily at the sight of it. Lucas who was still sitting saw his expression and gave him a reassuring look of you got this. Just then, his desk phone rang.

Alex picked it up. "What! Are you serious?! Is that really necessary?!"
