Chapter 6 - Caught

Richard being the elder brother, while Macdonald was the second, and Stephan being the last, never imagined that their sister would ever get married, not until Richard dropped a message, letting them know that their sister, Charlie was seeing someone.

Richard: [Seems someone finally gets herself a man.]

Soon two messages popped up on  Richard’s screen.

Macdonald and Stephan: [Who?!]

Richard: [Our sister, Charlie got married and I just had to share it with you guys. I cannot keep it in any longer.]

Macdonald: [No way!]

Stephan: [This can’t be true? Since when have you been hiding this, brother?]

Richard had only come to visit a regular villa of his which was not too far from Euclid Ave’s Estate when he saw Charlie come out of her car only to enter the house.

Mason upon entering was feeling a bit uncomfortable and didn’t even know what to say to  Charlie so all he did was just try to afford her stares.

“I never expected you to be back this time. I thought you’d still be at the hospital attending to your…you know…father.” Charlie broke the silence.

“Yes. I—I thought it would be too early to start giving excuses since the agreement stated the time to always get back to you is 8 pm.” Mason answered looking as innocent as possible.

“Okay. It’s fine. But not in emergency cases like this. I can still let it go once you are telling the truth just like you’ve done today.” She tweaked a bit and Mason nodded.

“Is anyone with your father…I mean at the hospital?” Charlie asked.

“No…sorry…I mean yes…my mother. She is with him.” Mason replied and heaved a sigh.

To Mason, this was a dream come true as he would never have believed he would stay in one of the wealthiest homes in Ontario, Canada even if it was foreseen to him by a diviner.

The home itself was a lot after Mason had picked up his phone to search through the internet only to see that it was worth a sum of a million dollars. He then knows that Charlie was worth more than the $28,000 Judith had asked for earlier and why she had stepped in to help him. He had married one of the richest women on the planet—earth.

“I think there are some things you need to know about our new home. Come.” Charlie stood up while Mason followed behind.

“Okay?” Mason answered and kept mute again.

“First of all, this place here,” Charlie pointed at the master bedroom “It’s mine and for no reason would you come in without my permission. I forbid it.” She started.

After moving forward a bit she opened another door and looked back at Mason who was only nodding like a creche student who was being instructed by his teacher “This is your bedroom, okay? I won’t invade your room without your permission under any circumstance.” She added.

“Noted,” Mason responded briefly.

“Lastly, the rest of the rooms are open for visitation from your friends and families. But before you bring them home, make sure you let me know and yeah, I won’t tolerate a friend or a family moving in or sleeping over including your parents at least till the three-year contract is over and you can have the whole building to yourself. Are we clear?” Charlie concluded with her brows raised—oh she looked so beautiful, Mason thought—beauty with brains.

“Sure.” He responded and Charlie couldn’t believe he wasn’t in the least moved by her promises.

“I’ll use the bathroom…” Charlie pointed her hand back and left leaving Mason to wander around the whole building until he stumbled on a room where he could always work out.

“Wow…I can gym here…Oh, look at that.” He approached one of the gyming instruments and started working out immediately.

No sooner than he had started he heard a loud thud in the bathroom and Charlie’s voice.

“Damn! Ah!” Charlie’s voice resonated from the bathroom through the room causing Mason to leave what he was doing and rush down towards the bathroom.

“C–Charlie. Are you okay in there?” He knocked on the bathroom door.

“What just happened?” he whispered to himself as he tried to push the door open but he noticed it was locked.

“It…argh…I’m fine.” Charlie answered.

Mason knew she lied. He could tell that she fell and she must be hurting right now but he restricted himself.

He was about to leave when he heard Charlie reach out. “Mason? Are you there? F*ck!”

He halted his track and looked back “Yes. Are you okay? Do you need me now… I can…” He paused.

“I can’t feel my legs. I think…argh! Damnit! This hurts so badly.” she added.

“I can’t seem to open the door,” Mason replied.

“Just move backward a bit and hit it,” Charlie instructed and immediately the door opened up revealing Charlie wrapped in a towel with her body—all pure and neat.

Mason could swear that he almost fell for her as he tried to control his heart which was beating faster than usual.

“My leg…it hurts. I think…I can’t walk…just…are you just going to stand there?! Mason!” Charlie’s voice jolted him out of his thoughts.

“Oh my…goodness. What should I do? I–I’m sorry.” Mason apologized looking so confused as he knew he could not dare to touch her at that instance unless she said so.

“Don’t be such a coward. Just carry me…” She blinked twice making her much cuter and this almost weakened Mason as he tried to reach out to her but Charlie hit his hand again.

“I’m sorry…did I do something wrong?” Mason went back into his shell.

“Eyes closed—carry me afterward. If I discover that your eyes are open, consider the contract forfeited.” Charlie answered, trying to hide her shyness.

“Okay…I will try.” Mason answered as he was already getting exhausted from the whole drama going on at the moment.

“And one last thing,” Mason’s hand froze. “Mind how you touch me with those hands.” She pointed to his hand and Mason gulped down his saliva hard.

“But if my eyes are closed, I can’t…I would not be able to see where I’m going and we both could end up having an accident.” Mason spoke boldly this time without fear as the rules were already getting too much.

“Just carry me with your eyes closed. I will give directions.” Charlie answered and adjusted herself while Mason did as instructed and made his way to her room.

All this while, Richard, Charlie’s brother was watching all of their dramas and this left him in shock as to how Charlie was able to find love since she has never devoted herself to a relationship before and this whole marriage thing he knew was just a facade and that Charlie was not even close to being romantic.

“What?!  How can this be possible? Are they really in love? Yikes!” Richard whispered.

He took out his phone and took pictures of Mason and Charlie and sent them to his other brothers.

Stephan: [ Wow…Seems our pretty sister found love in the end. Haha.]

Macdonald: [I doubt it. You should know Charlie doesn’t do things without a reason.]

“Hmm… my brother is right. Could it be one of her ways of taking over the Synertech Network company completely?” Richard murmured with confusion etched on his face.

“What are you up to sister?” Richard added.
