A man in his early fifties stood before the two with furrowed brows. However, a little crowd was already gathering to learn what was transpiring. Seeing the prying eyes who were already staring with itchy ears to watch as the drama unfolds. Mr. Nick, the chief security, took the two to a corner. "Come with me, both of you."
On keeping themselves away from the prying eyes, Nick asked them. "What is the matter between you two?" Turning to Louis, he asked. "Why did you hit him?"
"Sir, I just tried to inquire about the human resource office and he told me off by insulting me. I've just been employed as a security guard and needed to report to work. However, this fella here was not willing to help." Arthur explained what happened to Nick who decided to take him to the HR office by himself. The two left Louis there without anymore word. "Thank you Sir, you're most kind."
"You don't have to thank me, It's part of our jobs as security guards. To give directions to those who need help. It's just that Louis happens to be a brat." Nick replied.
"Sorry I didn't Introduce myself to you. My name Arthur McCain. Your new colleague." Arthur stated and Nick smiled. "That's interesting. I hope we can get along fine. I'm Nick, the chief security."
Stretching forth their hands, the men shook each other before heading for the elevator. Not long, they arrived at the last floor where various offices were located. "That is the HR office." Nick pointed to a door boldly written. 'Humam Resource office.'
Nick went back to his duties as soon as Arthur had said his thanks. Heaving a deep sigh, Arthur took a few steps before finally arriving at the doorstep.
Knock Knock.
Arthur knocked on the door but there was no response. On the second knock, a lady's voice yelled at him from the inside. "Who is it?" Arthur was lost for words. Really?
Was this how rude his staff were? How can someone yell from inside without confirming who the guest was? So rude.
Arthur knocked again and this time, the door was flung open. "Would you stand there and stare all day or come in." A lady in her thirties asked. Meekly, Arthur walked into the office.
"Yes, what can I do for you?" She asked rudely. "I just got a job as a security guard and have come to report for work." Arthur explained to the lady and she stretched her hands for his documents.
Axel had earlier taken care of everything so Arthur's report was already in their system. The lady whose name Arthur learnt was Anna scanned through the system and confirmed Arthur's name. "She'll give you your uniform and work shift schedule." Anna said to Arthur which got him confused.
"Who is it, Ma'am." Arthur inquired causing the lady to scowl at him before dialing a number on the landline. "Go to the procurement office and she'll give you all you need. Starting towards the door, Arthur halted in his steps when the lady called out to him. "Arthur McCain. Are you related to Gregg McCain, the billionaire industrialist?"
Arthur shook his head. "No ma, we just happen to have the same surname."
"I thought as much." The lady said as she threw Arthur a scornful glance. "A dirt like you can't possibly be related to Gregg McCain."
Arthur swallowed hard but did not say anymore words. He just quietly left the office.
Arriving before the procurement office, Arthur knocked again and this time he was asked to come in because the door was open.
"Good morning ma'am, my name is Arthur…" He was still speaking when the lady lifted her head. Wait, what?
Was it not the same lady he met at the other office, how come she's here before him. Arthur was shocked. Directing his gaze to the table, he saw that the name was different. This one was Hannah.
They were twins. Indeed.
"What are you staring at? Go over there and get your uniform and stop acting like a moron." The lady said as she pointed towards her left.
Arthur hurriedly took the uniform.
"Your duty post will be on this floor, make sure no intruder passes you by. You would also walk around sometimes and see that things are going well." She instructed Arthur and he nodded in acknowledgement. "Why do I have a feeling that you won't last on this job." She muttered from under her breath.
"What did you say ma'am?" Arthur inquired and the lady smirked at him. "Get on and get out of my office, you stink."
The statement got Arthur enraged. Unconsciously, he clenched his fists and bit his lower lip. Why the heck were they all rude?
Managing to keep a calm demeanor, Arthur went in search of the changing room where he quickly changed into his uniform.
He was about to come out and bumped into Nick. "Wow! I see you're fully dressed and ready for work. You look good in the uniform." Nick admired him and Arthur let out a chuckle. "Indeed. Thank you for the compliments"
Arthur was already liking the man. He was indeed free spirited and friendly. "So are you ready for work?" He asked and Arthur nodded his head. "Ofcourse. Although, I have to get something first downstairs before coming back to my duty post."
"Ok. Let's go together then."
As soon as they entered the elevator, Arthur asked. "So Anna and Hannah are twin. They must have worked really hard to get their positions."
Nick shook his head disapprovingly. "Alot of inappropriate things are happening here. And those sisters you see are not so innocent. One of them paved way for the other so they could work together and perpetuate their hideous acts."
Arthur was more curious, he had learnt from his grandfather about some unseemly things happening among some staff of the mall.
"Really, it meant that they were doing some dirty things behind the curtain." Arthur asked and before Nick could open his mouth and reply, the door of the elevator opened and his eyes met with two familiar figures.
"Who would have thought that I'd bump into you in a place like this? Well, what am I even saying? He's just a security guard. Janet turned to Bryan and they both giggled evilly. Arthur threw a glance at Nick who gave him a confusing look. "Do you know who they are?" Nick asked, still puzzled but Arthur shook his head."They're bad news and I don't want to waste my time on urchins like them?" Arthur retorted, causing Janet to flare up. "Hey, loser. Who are you calling bad news? Because you managed to get yourself a security job after I got you sacked. You're just a useless pauper and that is what you'll always be.""Come on honey, let's not waste anymore of our precious time on this thief. Someone who can't even afford to buy good shoes." Bryan took Janet by the left hand while he carried a big shopping bag on the other hand. However, Janet was not satisfied yet. She wanted to get Arthur to pay for calling them urchins. She unsealed the bottle of water on her hand and emptied half of i
Arthur was taken aback with the question. He wasn't expecting to see one of the twins he had met earlier to start looking for him. He wasn't gone for that long. Or was he?"Uhmmm… Ma'am Anna. I… Uhmmm…" Arthur stuttered in his words which infuriated the lady. "Would you keep your mouth shut? And who's Anna? If you can't differentiate, then shut that trash you call a month. Do not jumble up our names again."Arthur nodded his head."Now tell me, where the heck have you been? You're yet to resume work and already missing in action."Arthur was without a word. He actually had no idea what to say. Should he tell the stern lady that he encountered his step brother and ex girlfriend who almost emptied a can of water on him? That's a bad excuse. "I went to use the restroom downstairs." Arthur found himself saying and Anna glared at him."Whatever.""Because it's your first day, I'll let this pass. If this happens again, I'll make sure you get sacked from here even if you're just starting."
"Why is the manager crying on the floor?" Harry directed his question to Morris who was still stupefied. "I'm asking you Morris, what is going on here?"Morris was still lost for the right words to explain what was going on. He was still trying to comprehend things. He has just been offered the position of the manager by Arthur, his ex colleague who was sacked the previous day. How come? What really happened?Ignoring the men, Arthur repeated what he said to Morris. "You are yet to answer my question Morris. Would you like to be the new manager?"Morris nodded his head. "Yes, Sir." It felt so stupid and awkward. What if Arthur was not in his right sense? No, It's not possible. He was here and witnessed what happened even though he was still confused. He saw when Arthur made a call and Frank received another that made him fall to Arthur's feet and started pleading. It couldn't possibly be a joke.Harry, who has had enough of the drama, yelled at the men. "What is going on here?" "You
Arthur quickly made for the dressing room where he changed into his uniform. He had just been dropped off by the previous night's taxi driver. Arthur had to keep a close contact with the man whom he had just made his undercover taxi driver.Getting the man to make a promise of keeping his identity was easy. He just threw a few wads of cash to silence him after somewhat threatening to make his life difficult if he were to ever blow his cover. However, the taxi driver made a promise on his own grave to be discreet about Arthur's identity."I'd be stupid to go against you by revealing your identity to the world." The man had said. Although, the identity he meant was that Arthur was a rich man pretending to be poor. He was yet to learn how he was related to Carl Ramon, the quadrillionaire businessman."Good." Arthur had responded and they both parted ways. Why would he want to disobey the man's order after earning some undeserved amount of Euros. An amount he couldn't possibly earn in a m
Jesse directed her question to Louis who paused in his tracks. "M… Ma'am, I'm going back to my duty post." He stuttered in his words. However, Jesse kept glaring at him with her brows arched. "I went to get something from the dressing room." He continued and Jesse could not help but sneer at him.Arthur just stood there without a word. He was wondering why Jesse was acting so unfriendly towards Louis. Jesse started towards Louis, stopping right before him. "You."Louis bowed his head, refusing to have any eyes contact with the lady before him who looked infuriated."I've heard so much complaints of your misconduct from your colleagues. I didn't want to believe it because I believe in a fair trial. I wanted to be sure that they weren't all lying against you. However, I've seen with my own eyes that all they say about you is the truth. You are indeed a brat and a bully. Take this as your last warning. If I hear anymore mishaps that you are involved in, then, I'll have no choice but to
Arthur's heart skipped as the man brought out his phone. His thoughts reverted to the incident at the hotel. Has his identity been revealed?Hastily, Arthur snatched the phone from Nick's hands causing the man to cast him a confusing look. Is he ok?Paying no heed to Nick, Arthur watched a video of two men running after a young man and pleading that he gave them another chance. The men who were pleading seemed to have been sacked and was asking a poorly dressed man to forgive them.Arthur recognized the men. They were Frank and Harry while it was him hurrying away with a newspaper concealing his face. It was a newspaper that he took at the reception area where he sat before he was approached by Frank and Harry. He was happy to be in possession of the paper as it helped shield his face from those cameras.Tilting the phone so Nick could see the video again, Arthur asked. "Ummm… Why do you think I should have a look? I don't really understand what was going on there."Arthur feigned ign
Arthur was stunned at the response of the taxi driver. Really? How could he just ditch the man when he needed his services? To think that the man had become part of his undercover mission. Letting out a chuckle, he replied. "I'm waiting for you at the mall. Remember our agreement. No one must know about this. If you keep your end of the deal and not run your mouth, you'd be duly compensated.""Right Sir. I got your point clearly and can assure you that your secret is very safe with me.""Good."Arthur ended the call and made towards the exit door. His shift normally ends at 3pm and another security guard takes his place. Arthur was very ok with the morning shift. It meant that he'll have the rest of the day to do his other businesses. He has to keep an eye at the hotel and make sure Morris does a good job.The guy had been good to him for the two years they had worked together. It was why he gave him that huge responsibility. However, he needed to be sure that Morris was capable and t
Swiftly, Arthur took out his phone and made a call across to the hotel's CEO, Mr Mike. It was Axel who gave the man Arthur's real identity. The man had come in the previous night and came to work that day. However, he never parades himself around the hotel. That was the job of the manager. To supervise the activities of all the staff members. That was a huge responsibility. The CEO was mostly in his office watching what was going on in the place through the CCTV camera. As soon as he got the call from Arthur, he hastily summoned the staff members who converged at the conference hall. However, not all the staff had to leave their duty post since they had guests to attend to. A few stayed behind and would be learning about what transpired from those who had attended the emergency meeting. While Arthur made his way to the CEO's office to watch the show from there. The man stood before the staff members and addressed them."Good evening everyone. I'm sorry to have disrupted you from your
