Chapter 7

"Who would have thought that I'd bump into you in a place like this? Well, what am I even saying? He's just a security guard. Janet turned to Bryan and they both giggled evilly. Arthur threw a glance at Nick who gave him a confusing look. "Do you know who they are?" Nick asked, still puzzled but Arthur shook his head.

"They're bad news and I don't want to waste my time on urchins like them?" Arthur retorted, causing Janet to flare up. "Hey, loser. Who are you calling bad news? Because you managed to get yourself a security job after I got you sacked. You're just a useless pauper and that is what you'll always be."

"Come on honey, let's not waste anymore of our precious time on this thief. Someone who can't even afford to buy good shoes." Bryan took Janet by the left hand while he carried a big shopping bag on the other hand.

However, Janet was not satisfied yet. She wanted to get Arthur to pay for calling them urchins. She unsealed the bottle of water on her hand and emptied half of it on Arthur before leaving with her boyfriend. "That's for insulting me and my boyfriend." Turning to her boyfriend, she said. "Let's go Bryan." The latter followed behind like a fool who had to be told what to do. They scurried away with an evil smirk on their face leaving Arthur drenched.

Some eyewitnesses who had witnessed the incident murmured among themselves.

"Wow! That security dude has just met his match. They can be so unreasonable demanding tips like you owe them money."

"I know right. Those church rats can be so annoying. I bet he was trying to get something out of the lady by pestering her. They forget that not everyone has the patience to put up with their silly attitude."

"Seriously, if it were me being pestered for a tip, I'd do more than she just did. How can they not know their place?"

Arthur had heard enough of the insults and belittling. He stared at Nick and the latter opened both his hands. "That's how some of them see us. Like beggars. But then, with the look of things, I'm sure you have a history with those two. What really happened?"

Arthur glanced at his drenched outfit and to Nick who quickly got the point. Arthur needed a change of clothes and Nick took him back to where he changed his clothes into a dry outfit. Putting up the wet ones to get dry.

"So, Nick. You were telling me something about the twin sisters, Anna and Hannah."

Nick gave him a questioning look. Really?

"On the contrary, I think it's you who has an explanation to give to me. What really happened out there? What did you do to those people that they hated you so much? I mean the hatred was so pronounced." Nick asked with furrowed brows.

Arthur scratched his head as his expression turned into a frown. Upon seeing that his mood had changed, Nick said to him, "You know you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. Moreover, I'm still a stranger to you. Maybe you can freely tell me when you've trusted me enough."

Arthur bit his lower lip and heaved a deep sigh. "Uhmm… Like I said before, they're bad news and talking about it would ruin my day. In fact, I don't want to go down that memory lane."

Nick gave an understanding nod. "It's fine. I'll be out to make my rounds. When you need anything, you know where to find me."

Arthur nodded his head. "Thank you."

"And about those twin sisters, it'll be a story for another day."

Arthur smiled at the man who strode towards the door and disappeared into it. Arthur hurriedly closed the door of the dressing room and brought out his phone to call Axel.

It was obvious that Axel and himself had planned out everything about his working as a security guard in his own mall. However, Carl was unaware of the whole ploy.

Ring Ring.

The phone rang twice but no one picked it up. Arthur was getting frustrated. Someone might want to come into the dressing room and realize that it was locked from inside. He also needed to go back to the position that was assigned for him to watch over.

Arthur decided to try one more time and Axel picked up. "Young master. How is everything going on your first day at work? I hope no one troubles you?" The man asked, concern etched in his voice.

"Axel, I'm getting pissed already even though I'm yet to resume my duty. Everyone I meet has been nothing but rude and belittling. Is that how these employees behave? I'm only being tolerant because I have a goal to achieve before revealing myself to them." Arthur complained bitterly.

Axel was speechless and first. However, he decided to give his suggestion. "I think you should be a little more patient until you achieve all you want. Don't worry, with this facade of yours, you'll be able to fish out the bad eggs."

"Yeah, you're right." Arthur said and let out a deep sigh. "I'll persist till I achieve my goal." He concluded.

"That's more like it."

With that, Arthur ended the call and hid back his special phone. If anyone was to find out about the phone, they'd raise eyebrows and level him a thief which will eventually cause him to blow his cover quickly.

Opening the door of the dressing room, he started towards the last floor of the building where he had been assigned to watch over.

Soon, the door of the elevator went open with Arthur coming out of it cautiously. Upon raising up his head his gaze fell on someone standing opposite the elevator door with a stern face. "Where the heck have you been?"
