Brittany could not think clearly throughout the day. Although Tristan attempted to murder Gabriel, she knew he was the victim, but she was concerned about what Gabriel would think if she mentioned his father having an affair.

“I am sorry about what happened today. I should be more careful when attending these meetings. I put your life in danger, and I beg you to forgive me,” Gabriel said, grabbing her hands.

Brittany sighed and nodded slightly, avoiding looking into his eyes. She knew that would only make her more vulnerable than she already was, so she tried to avoid his eyes.

“You have not said a thing since we left the hotel. Maybe you are still shaken by it,” he said, and she shook her head. “You will not even look at me,” he said, and she took a deep breath, turning to face him.

“I will take you somewhere to cool off. I know I have put you through a lot lately, but I need you by my side, Brit. You are much more than a personal assistant,” he said, causing her conscience to prick
