CHAPTER SIXTY
Maureen kept pacing around in the living room as she waited for James. She knew that something was up when she suddenly heard the slamming of the front door when James took her to bed.

It was already past 2 am and he was not yet back. “Are the Martinez family a part of this? They wouldn’t do anything to him, right? He already divorced their daughter.” She thought and then said done back.

The note that he left at her door was in her hand. After some minutes of waiting, she felt her eyes drooping and she eventually gave in to sleep.

“Why are you here? I thought I told you to go back to bed.” James said to her as he walked into that house and saw her in an uncomfortable position on the couch.

“How do you expect me to go to bed when you suddenly leave the house and you are back by this time? That isn’t okay at all. You made me worried.” She told him and looked at him.

“What is it?” James asked her when he saw the way she looked at him.
