20: Finding Luck

Barrett got up, his head was still hurting, but his body felt a little better. Walking, he looked at how the rest of the workers looked at him, and without waiting for a second, he went out to line up.

As he walked out, he looked at Mina. She was backing away with a fierce expression on her face as she said, “Don’t come near me!”

The man who was advancing looked at her with a smile, and Barrett, seeing the scene, said, “Little girl. Are you okay?”

She turned her gaze, and the man who was in front of her saw her walking toward him.

She came to Barrett’s side and seeing the man, said, “Now I am!”

The smiling guy looked at her and then at Barrett and said, “Excellent victory you had yesterday! It’s actually pretty impressive that Preston couldn’t beat a nobody like you.”

Smiling, Barrett looked at him and said, “I guess it was luck...”

He nodded, pointed at Mina, and said, “You should accept my offer, your defender will not last much in this place if he keeps getting into people’s busine
