Chapter 2

Seeing that smile, Elliot realized that Hani and Tom had been having an affair for quite some time. "How could you do something like this to me?" He squeezed her hand tightly. "What am I missing?"

Elliot was inflamed. He wondered what made her turn away from him. All this time, Elliot had always tried to give Hani whatever she wanted, even if it was hard to get.

Hani rolled her eyes. "Nonsense." She looked sharply at Elliot. "You should be self-aware and realize that you are a poor, poor man. The man who will never be able to give me anything at all."

Elliot shook his head in disbelief at the words of his wife. "After all I've given you, you're saying I can't give you anything?"

Tom grinned, embracing Hani intimately. "In reality, you can't make Hani happy. It's very different from me who can give her anything that makes her happy."

"You're right, dear." Hani smiled, stroking Tom's hand on her shoulder. Even the look in the woman's eyes was very affectionate, in contrast to when she looked back at Elliot, so sharp and condescending. "Unlike you who can only give me cheap things that make my body itch. Disgusting. I don't like it."

Hani showed a face like someone who wanted to vomit. Elliot just realized, it's appropriate that over the past few months, Hani has changed a lot.

He remembered that Tom had also always told him to do extra work to the point of making him work overtime, coming home late at night, but it all didn't go into his paycheck. The time was wasted. Tom just wanted to take advantage of him.

Now everything was so obvious. Elliot grinned at Tom. "Oh, now I know why I was fired. It was all because you wanted to get Hani."

"Yes, that was my goal to get you guys divorced quickly and we can get married." Tom smiled proudly as he embraced Hani's body, showing his affection in front of Elliot.

Hani welcomed the affectionate treatment from Tom, resting her head on the blond man's chest. "Anyway, you're useless. You're just going to make my precious life go to waste."

Elliot squeezed his hands together, staring at Tom with a burning hot chest. "You're a terrible thief."

In Elliot's eyes, no matter how high a man's dignity was, he would fall when he stole someone else's property. It was a bad and unforgivable deed.

But at Elliot's words, Tom and Hani laughed at him. Tom clucked while shaking his head mockingly at Elliot. "You have a very funny nature. How could you accuse a rich man like me of being a thief?"

Hani folded her arms across her chest and looked at Elliot defiantly as if he was her enemy. "He didn't snatch me from you but I was the one who wanted him. Even if you worked for 100 years, you wouldn't be as rich as Tom. So you shouldn't be so confident and proud as if you've given the whole world to me."

Tom laughed again. It even made the cut at the corner of her lip sting. "Just so you know, Elliot. You're nothing, even you're worth less than a doormat."

Elliot could no longer contain himself. He clenched his fists tightly, jumped at Tom, and punched the blond man to the floor. Elliot beat Tom's face mercilessly. Meanwhile Hani continued to scream hysterically.

"Stop it, damn it! Let him go!" Hani tried to pull Elliot's arm to stop beating Tom, but her strength was no match for Elliot's fury.

Elliot at that moment didn't care about anything, even if Tom had to die, he felt it was worth the heartache.

Hani panicked, unable to let Elliot do something like this to Tom. He tried again to pull Elliot's arm to stop while beating the man with his bag.

"Stop, damn it. You lowly bastard. How dare you beat up my boyfriend." Hani's words instantly made Elliot stop, looking at her sharply. "Get out of my way!"

Hani pushed Elliot's body roughly away from Tom. The woman was busy helping Tom. What made Elliot stop beating Tom was Hani's harsh words and referring to Tom as her lover. After what Elliot had done so far, everything was considered meaningless.

Elliot's jaw hardened, accentuating his firm jawbone. "I was completely fooled by you, Hani. I thought you were a good woman, but it turns out you're a lowly woman."

Hearing the insults thrown from Elliot's mouth, made Hani immediately stare sharply at the man who had been married to her for 1 year. "I hate you so much, Elliot."

Hani got up, helping Tom to his feet. One hand clenched into a tight fist, pointing at Elliot. "I want our relationship to end this very second. Whatever you're going to say, I don't care."

Elliot nodded his head, smiling bitterly. "Fine if that's what you want. I'm divorcing you."

Tom wiped the blood running down the corner of his lips, pointing at Elliot with fiery anger. "Just watch, you're going to get into big trouble."

Tom and Hani quickly got into the car, leaving the parking lot to go to the hospital for treatment. Not long after, Elliot also left there.

The body of the man in the messy shirt went limp, going somewhere to calm down. Elliot stood on the side of the overpass just above the big river. He hit the metal bridge support hard enough to make his already torn and bloody fist hurt even worse.

His hand trembled at the hot, stinging sensation that numbed it for a few seconds as blood oozed from the wound. The pain of being handled was nothing compared to the pain in his heart that was completely shattered to pieces.

"It's really pathetic." Elliot mumbled at his hand.

He ignored the pain he was feeling and walked alone desperately along the overpass until without realizing it, Elliot was already down the bridge walking in the grass full of weeds on the side of the large river waters just below the bridge.

Elliot picked up his cell phone, staring at the screen of the flat object that showed a photo of Hani hugging him intimately which suddenly made the anger in his chest burn hot again. Elliot's emotions rose to the top of his head again. The anger was so great that he threw his cell phone into the grass.

Elliot massaged his sore forehead. He exhaled, walking to the edge of the river to find peace. But at the same time, he saw an old man who was about to drown on the riverbank.

"Help!" With his face rising and falling, the old man shouted softly.

Elliot moved immediately, jumping into the river to save the old man. Elliot lifted the old man's body to the bank and gently patted his frail back, causing him to cough up the water that had entered his body.

"Are you alright?" Elliot rubbed the back of the old man in front of him with quick movements to keep the man's body from freezing.

Marcus smiled at Elliot. "You are a very good man."

Elliot returned the smile of the old man before him. "I just couldn't let you die there just like that."

Marcus sighed with his head bowed while shaking his head. "Oh, this might be quite difficult."

Marcus' small mumble left Elliot confused as to the meaning of his words. "Sorry, what did you say?"

"You passed the test I made." Marcus looked at Elliot with a serious face which suddenly made Elliot even more confused.

Elliot really didn't understand the words of the man he had just saved. Test? What test did the old man mean? Elliot thought, maybe the old man had lost his mind and made him drown in the river.

"Ah, the most important thing now is that you are safe. I will immediately call an ambulance to take you to the hospital." Elliot intended to take the cell phone from his pants pocket, but then he remembered that he had already thrown it away.

Elliot exhaled and immediately looked for where his cell phone was. He squatted down to feel the grass in front of him until he finally managed to find his cell phone that had been thrown.

But coincidentally, he saw an email notification come in on his phone screen. A notification of the transfer of 100 million dollars into his account instantly made Elliot's pupils dilate.

Marcus smiled at Elliot. "You just got 100 million dollars into your account, right?"

Hearing the old man's words, made Elliot pause, looking at Marcus with a confused face. "How did you know that?"
