Chapter 7

Grandma is no more.

“What? Maven, I don’t know what he is talking about.

“You stole my car." The old man said,

.

“Come on, boy, get into the car; do not let us use force on you." One of the officers said that and pulled him by the wedding dress.

“Is there a clown party going on somewhere?” His large eyes could tell how curious he was.

“We just got married. This is my husband." Maven spoke dryly. They were married for barely two hours, and the man she had chosen to be her husband was already causing her so much pain and trouble. The officers dragged Thomas into their van and drove off, leaving her by the roadside. Now she has to walk home all by herself.

Meanwhile,Maven was walking back to Grandma’s house so she could get help to bail Thomas out of the police cell. Her shoes were beginning to inconvenience her, so she took off one leg, leaping with one of the heels on.

“Damn bastard!!!” She cursed and pulled the second heel off with all the aggression in her body. David had made her do the most stupid thing in the world. How could she have fallen for his mischievous trick?

“That Miscreant”. She cursed under her breath and began to hurry down the street.

Meanwhile, Thomas was sitting pretty in his wedding dress. All his thoughts are centered on his grandma, who was lying in the hospital, and his grandpa, who cannot walk. His heart raced at the thought of how his grandpa was feeding, and if Dennis got to that house and found the little money he had given to grandpa for his upkeep, he would steal all of it to gamble. Thomas couldn’t stop worrying.

“Hey you, why did you steal his car?” the policeman asked as he beat the baton on his palm.

“I didn’t steal the car. My grandma was at the point of death, so I met him to help, but he refused. Then I snatched the keys from him and took her to the hospital, but the car unfortunately broke down around 6th Avenue. It should still be there." Thomas said with his eyes, staring pitifully at the officer.

“Now you would have to pay for damages because the car has been dismantled by some night crooks." The officer informed him in a harsh tone.

“Sir, please, I have no money. My mother is sick.” He tried to explain but got a harsh scolding in return.

“Shut the hell up. You are a criminal, and that is final.” The officer barked and hit him hard on the shoulder with the baton.

The officer was about to hit him again when a deep voice echoed into the hall.

“That’s enough!! You have done enough already; he is ours now." The voice was thick and graced with so much authority. Thomas turned to look at the one person who had saved him, only to find two hefty-looking men dressed in well-tailored azure blue suits with tattoos on their necks and exposed chests matching through the open door in a file into the open hall.

“That’s enough”. The man said it again and stared into Thomas’s face. He turned and exchanged a wicked grin with his colleague.

“This is him,” the first man said, turning to face the one behind him.

“Thomas Miller!” The thick voice resounded in the room. Thomas could only recognize one of them, who happens to be their leader. Miller is just a random name grandma had picked for him when he first started school. A little smile crept over his face as he saw the men walk into the hall. Now he truly believes that Grandpa has his eyes on him, just as he had said earlier.

“Come on, boss, let's go." The man said he was leaving the officers flabbergasted. They knew exactly who the men were, so they just couldn’t say anything to them.

The moment they let him go, he took a deep breath. He could easily replace the man’s car for the damages, but this was not the time to do all of that since Grandpa had warned him about keeping his new identity private. The moment he got into the car, he found Larry sitting at the back, waiting for him.

“Hello boss”. The man greeted me first. Thomas smiled and greeted her back.

“Sir Roland asked me to come bail you, and that is why we are here." He said it with a smile. Thomas nodded because he knew nothing about the new life he was into.

“Why does Grandpa bother himself about me? I will be fine, and this card is more than enough to do all I have to  do." Thomas said as the car began to move.

“You need to think like the demigod that you are, Thomas. I know you are not aware yet, but the time is close when you will find out that your kind is  rare." The man spoke with less stress in his tone and words. He has been Grandpa Roland Al Thani’s personal assistant for decades. And from all Thomas can make out, he knows every single thing about Grandpa and the family. Thomas watched him smile wryly.

“I can see you are married now, and that would be a perfect tool to carry out the revenge plan. The enemies are close, and you must be  careful." He warmed. Thomas looked at him, and floods of questions filled his heart.

‘Save the questions for a better day. Remember, your identity must be hidden until the right  time." The man told him as the car pulled up just beside the hospital gate.

‘Thank you”. Thomas said this and got out of the car, still wearing the wedding gown. The security men looked at him with suspicion in their eyes, but Thomas didn’t care. He held the gown and went into the hospital. He raced through the corridors, so anxious to see his grandma that he didn’t bother to greet the nurses at the front desk station since he already knew the ward where his grandma was kept. The moment he got to the room, he pushed the door open, and then he came face-to-face with the nurse.

“You are late; your grandma is gone." She announced it to him and covered the corpse.
