CHAPTER 11

Victor couldn’t wait to tell his father about the vital information he had just gathered about Peter’s past life. The informant had told him that the family was now destitute and would do anything for money and revenge on Peter for coming back with so much hatred for them.

He sat in his car, sipping his chilled can of Coke.

“Serves them right for being insensitive when he had nothing but damn the bastard that is my seat, my rightful position." He growled to himself as he silently waited for the next call to buzz in.

Just like he anticipated, his phone came humming in no time. A wicked smirk formed around his mouth region, his eyes anticipating the latest news from his accomplice.

“Any additional information?” Victor asked coldly.

Yes, boss. Uhm! Peter successfully bought the mansion from them some months ago." When he heard this part of the information again, his eyes darkened, and he didn’t hesitate to bark into the phone.

“Don’t be a silly spider; I already know about the purchased mansion; that’s not what you should be saying at this point".

“I’m sorry, boss. Mai was his ex-wife, and they never had a child. Although her family wanted her to leave the idiot, she refused until they found her someone else, and from what I see here, Peter is angry because the slut got pregnant for another.

“Ouch! Poor thing; that must have been devastating for him." Victor feigned some sympathy.

‘The boy has a long thing coming,” Victor said, shaking his head in sympathy.

“What did you say, boss?” Spider asked from the other end of the phone.

“Never mind, just be alert; the bastard has got eyes everywhere." Victor advice. He scanned the environment for a while and hopped into his car.

Turning on the ignition, he speeded off, his wheels screeching loudly against the concrete floor.

Mr. Kennedy paced his sitting room with his hand behind his back as he waited for his son to return. His entire body sparked back to life when he heard a car pulling over in front of the house.

It was a few minutes past eight p.m., and even though he had warned his son to refrain from staying out late, the young man blatantly refused, saying that no one would harm him and that he was grown enough to take care of himself.

Mr. Kenny peered out of his window at his son’s car stopping at the garage. He watched him step out, and when he was sure that it was his son, he took a deep breath and went back to his position.

Victor turned on the light when he got into the sitting room. He screamed when he found his dad sitting on the couch in his black robe.

"C'mon, Dad, you scared the ghost out of me," Victor said.

His dad laughed hard, hitting his hand against the sofa and saying, “Stop being a chicken. Grown men don’t jump out of their skins." He continued to laugh.

“It’s not even funny, Dad; my heart stopped beating for a second when I saw you sitting like that." He spoke, trying hard to calm his now-shivering nerves.

His dad patted him on the chest and motioned for him to take a seat across from him. “What’s the update? Did he find anything reasonable?” Kennedy asked with curiosity spread over his face. He widened his eyes as he waited with keen interest.

“It’s not good news per se; however, it's very useful information that could help us strike a good deal in a few weeks if we act fast," Victor stated.

He went on to explain all that his spy, Spider, had told him earlier. Kennedy nodded at intervals to show his attentiveness.

“So she was pregnant with another man? Did you get his name or something?"

Victor was getting frustrated by his father’s numerous questions, but he was obliged to answer every bit of it without complaining.

"Yes, she got pregnant for another man; his name wasn’t disclosed, and that is Peter’s pain point. I think the lady is trying to get back to him, and right now she can do anything".

Hearing this, Kennedy smiled, and his face brightened. “We could use the lady against him.”.

“Exactly what I thought".

The bastard just ruined all our plans; I should have strangled him with my bare hands when I had the time to do so. Victor spoke with regret and a little sprinkle of spite in his tone.

Kennedy folded his arms across his protruding stomach, giving him a knowing look. His mouth curled to an angle as he furrowed his brows to show his disappointment. “So why didn’t you do it, tiger?” he asked mockingly.

“That which showed up and spoiled everything." Victor lied to defend himself.

“Come clean, Victor. I knew you would never do a perfect job.” Kennedy got up to leave.

'You're just incompetent." He muttered, brushing Victor off with his broad shoulders. Victor fell back into the seat. He watched his father sway his thick body into the lobby.

“Don’t forget to turn off the lights," he called out over his shoulder as he made his way into his room.

Victor sighed.

*****

It was noon the next day, and Mr. was trimming the flowers by the walkway when a black SUV stopped in front of him. He turned only to see two hefty men standing behind him, all masked in black from head to toe.

“Remain silent," one other man threatened, poking his ribs. The metal burned lightly into his skin as he stood numb. Before you knew it, a scarf was wrapped around his eyes, and quickly he was shoved into the car

. The car speeded off immediately with its tires protesting, emitting a sharp piercing sound as friction battled with the force against the concrete floor.

A cell phone came ringing and almost immediately left the scene; a familiar voice could be heard from the other end of the phone.

“We have the old fool boss; you shall see him soon." The phone of the men was said in a baritone voice.
