CHAPTER 40
Kennedy thanked the officials and headed for the parking lot with Victor behind him. His entire body aches from the beatings he has received. He needed a good bath and a good sleep if he could get some.

They had just driven a few inches away from the prison yard when his phone rang. He has missed taking calls from people. The one week he spent in prison was the worst week of his life. The inmates hated him, and the officials behaved like they'd been bribed to beat the hell out of him. He rested his head and answered the phone.

"Hey! I have been trying to reach you for some days now. What happened? Victor rolled his eyes as Mia's voice resonated through the speaker.

"I have been in prison," Victor responds with sarcasm. She had called at the wrong time and just didn't want to be rude. If she were smart, which, of course, he knows she is not, she would have picked up from his voice that he wasn't ready for any news or plans she had for him.

"What do you even mean by that?" She queried
