Chapter 13: I'll Marry Him in My Sister's Place

"Brother-in-law, say what you just said again," Heidi couldn't believe her ears.

"Not an elementary school teacher, a teacher at Nova University," Joseph repeated his words once more.

"No, brother-in-law, you're not joking, are you? Nova University is the nation's top institution. The teachers and professors here must at least have a doctoral degree or something. Even the cleaning aunties have bachelor's degrees."

"Brother-in-law, your friend must be messing with you, right?" Heidi found it hard to believe.

"It's definitely not a joke. At first, I also felt that I might not be qualified to be a teacher at Nova University, but in the past couple of days, I've remembered some things."

"It seems my educational background is quite high," Joseph said with a smile, calmly.

"No, brother-in-law, what is your educational background?"

"You've even forgotten your own educational background. I give up."

"However, you're only twenty-five years old this year. You got married to my sister when you were twenty-two. At most, you're just a university graduate," Heidi analyzed methodically.

"I'm not sure either. I'll go to Nova University tomorrow and see. It seems I know a lot of things and have a lot of knowledge," Joseph was still a bit uncertain, but his master wouldn't arrange for him to go to Nova University without reason.

At the very least, his master thought he was suitable for Nova University, which is why he left such an arrangement.

"If you can really become a teacher at Nova University, then we can meet every day in the future. I can go to your place to freeload meals every day," although Heidi found Joseph's words a bit outrageous, she still hoped it was true in her heart.

For her, it was a beautiful expectation.

"By the way, brother-in-law, I won't talk to you anymore. My sister is calling me," suddenly, Heidi said in a hurry.

"Alright, we'll chat later then," Joseph agreed. After exchanging a few pleasantries, they hung up the phone.

"Heidi, where are you? Where did you run off to so late at night?" Fiona knocked on Heidi's door, but there was no response, making her puzzled.

"Hey, sis, I'm here. I'm here," Heidi quickly answered. With that, she directly opened the door.

"You were inside, but I knocked on the door for so long, and you didn't say anything. What are you doing?" Fiona was a bit exasperated.

"Um, nothing. Sis, do you need something?" Heidi smiled awkwardly.

"I found some prepared dishes in the living room fridge. Joseph probably made them before he left. I heated them up. Do you want to eat some too?" Fiona said to Heidi.

"Um... I've already eaten!" Heidi said somewhat awkwardly.

"Already eaten?" For a moment, Fiona didn't understand what Heidi meant by this.

"I mean, I just called brother-in-law, and he told me about it. I've already eaten. Although it was a bit cold, the taste was not bad," Heidi explained, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Alright, do you want to eat some more? I'll eat a bit and then go to the family meeting," Fiona said indifferently.

"I can eat some more. Cold dishes always taste a bit off," Heidi replied.

With that, she came to the table in the living room, sat down, and started eating.

"Brother-in-law's cooking skills are still great. Without him, I don't know how I'll live in the future."

"Fortunately, I've made an agreement with him. In the future, when he moves to a new place, I'll go to his place to freeload meals," Heidi kept talking while eating.

"Can you change the way you address him? He's no longer your brother-in-law," Heidi calling Joseph "brother-in-law" made Fiona feel very uncomfortable.

She didn't want to hear anything about Joseph, but Heidi always had Joseph's name on her lips.

"Oh, but I'm used to it. It's not something I can change just by saying so," Heidi said blandly.

"Did Joseph say what he's going to do next?" Fiona asked again.

"Brother-in-law said he's going to be a teacher at Nova University, which is the university I attend. By the way, sis, you're also a graduate student at Nova University, right?" Heidi chattered on.

However, upon hearing Heidi's words, Fiona's face was filled with endless disdain.

"Going to be a teacher at Nova University? You believe his nonsense? If he were that capable, would I have divorced him?"

"He was just a good-for-nothing before, and now he's become such a braggart," Fiona sneered.

"Hey, you don't understand brother-in-law. Maybe even he doesn't understand himself. Whether he's bragging or not, we'll know in the future," Heidi said with a bit of a sigh.

"Hey, why does it smell so good? Fiona, did you cook this?" At this moment, Maria Long came out of the room.

"Yeah, why does it smell so good? Fiona, what delicious food did you make? It's making your dad a bit hungry," Stephen Cooper also walked out slowly.

"What do you mean sis cooked this? Who in this family can make such delicious food? This was left by brother-in-law at noon," Heidi looked at the two, feeling a bit exasperated.

"I'm not saying, this loser, although he's incapable, his cooking skills are really good," Maria Long chuckled and shamelessly sat down.

"That's right. Capable people can't even cook a decent meal."

"Just you two, have the nerve to eat the food he cooked? If it were me, with such backbone, I wouldn't even take a single bite of the food he made," Heidi said with great disdain.

"You little brat, what are you saying? Is this how you talk to your parents?" Upon hearing these words, Maria Long couldn't help but scold her.

"Exactly. You're simply a disobedient daughter. I think among the four of us in this family, you're the only one who's rebellious," Stephen Cooper also said, but his hands didn't stop. They didn't eat much for dinner, and although dinner was cooked by himself, he also found it unappetizing and could barely eat a few bites.

"Tsk."

"Sis, if you don't want to marry him, why don't I marry him instead? Anyway, your marriage was originally arranged by Grandpa back then. Now that Grandpa is in a coma, when he wakes up and finds out you're divorced, he might be furious," Heidi thought of something and said solemnly.

However, Heidi's words almost choked everyone.

"Pfft... You silly child, what are you saying? Do you have a problem with your brain? Your sister just escaped from a tiger's mouth, and you're so eager to ruin yourself, aren't you?" Maria Long looked like she was heartbroken over Heidi's foolishness.

"Exactly. If it weren't for that loser, your sister's career would have definitely reached new heights in these past few years," Stephen Cooper also said very seriously.

"Enough, don't discuss him anymore. I don't want to hear anything about him. And you, can't you stop talking nonsense every day?"

"I'm full. I'm going to the family meeting. I'm leaving first," having said that, Fiona stood up and left.

"I'm going back to my room too," Heidi said, also putting down her bowl and chopsticks.

"These two kids..." Maria Long looked at the two, also feeling exasperated. The two continued feasting.

Back in her room, Heidi took out her phone, found Joseph's bank account, and transferred $10,000 to Joseph's account.

She originally thought of $5,000, but after thinking about it, after Joseph left the Cooper family, he didn't even take a set of clothes with him and needed to buy everything. With the high prices nowadays, $5,000 might not be enough.

"Brother-in-law, I've transferred $10,000 to your account. Use it for now. You can pay me back when you have money," Heidi sent Joseph another message.
