Chapter 13: I'll Marry Him in My Sister's Place

"Brother-in-law, say what you just said again," Heidi couldn't believe her ears.

"Not an elementary school teacher, a teacher at Nova University," Joseph repeated his words once more.

"No, brother-in-law, you're not joking, are you? Nova University is the nation's top institution. The teachers and professors here must at least have a doctoral degree or something. Even the cleaning aunties have bachelor's degrees."

"Brother-in-law, your friend must be messing with you, right?" Heidi found it hard to believe.

"It's definitely not a joke. At first, I also felt that I might not be qualified to be a teacher at Nova University, but in the past couple of days, I've remembered some things."

"It seems my educational background is quite high," Joseph said with a smile, calmly.

"You were inside, but I knocked on the door for so long, and you didn't say anything. What are you doing?" Fiona was a bit exasperated.

"Um, nothing. Sis, do you need something?" Heidi smiled awkwardly.

"I found some prepared dishes in the living room fridge. Joseph probably made them before he left. I heated them up. Do you want to eat some too?" Fiona said to Heidi.

"Um... I've already eaten!" Heidi said somewhat awkwardly.

"Already eaten?" For a moment, Fiona didn't understand what Heidi meant by this.

"I mean, I just called brother-in-law, and he told me about it. I've already eaten. Although it was a bit cold, the taste was not bad," Heidi explained, feeling a bit embarrassed.

"Alright, do you want to eat some more? I'll eat a bit and then go to the family meeting," Fiona said indifferently.

"I can eat some more. Cold dishes always taste a bit off," Heidi replied.

With that, she came to the table in the living room, sat down, and started eating.

"Brother-in-law's cooking skills are still great. Without him, I don't know how I'll live in the future."

"Fortunately, I've made an agreement with him. In the future, when he moves to a new place, I'll go to his place to freeload meals," Heidi kept talking while eating.

"Can you change the way you address him? He's no longer your brother-in-law," Heidi calling Joseph "brother-in-law" made Fiona feel very uncomfortable.

She didn't want to hear anything about Joseph, but Heidi always had Joseph's name on her lips.

"Oh, but I'm used to it. It's not something I can change just by saying so," Heidi said blandly.

"Did Joseph say what he's going to do next?" Fiona asked again.

"Brother-in-law said he's going to be a teacher at Nova University, which is the university I attend. By the way, sis, you're also a graduate student at Nova University, right?" Heidi chattered on.

However, upon hearing Heidi's words, Fiona's face was filled with endless disdain.

"Going to be a teacher at Nova University? You believe his nonsense? If he were that capable, would I have divorced him?"

"He was just a good-for-nothing before, and now he's become such a braggart," Fiona sneered.

"I'm full. I'm going to the family meeting. I'm leaving first," having said that, Fiona stood up and left.

"I'm going back to my room too," Heidi said, also putting down her bowl and chopsticks.

Back in her room, Heidi took out her phone, found Joseph's bank account, and transferred $10,000 to Joseph's account.
