Chapter 16: The Comatose Old Mr. Cooper

"I... I was just using a metaphor. I'm your second uncle. Is this how you talk to me?" Hugh Cooper was stunned for a moment, unable to respond.

"If you don't know anything, just shut up, okay?" Fiona was quite disdainful.

"Fiona, my father is your second uncle, after all. You're talking to him like this. With such disrespect for your elders, I guess you don't respect Grandma in your heart either," Ryan Cooper spoke up.

"I don't want to waste my breath on you. If you want to investigate my character, you can do it in private."

"Grandma, I just want to ask you one thing. Did you call me here to investigate my character too?" Fiona looked at the old lady and asked.

"Hugh, and you too, Ryan Cooper, did I let you speak? You're so eager to talk. Do you have any good solutions to solve the family's current predicament? If so, I'll let you talk all you want," the old lady tapped her cane on the ground, her expression very serious.

Hearing this, Hugh Cooper and Ryan Cooper opened their mouths but didn't know what to say for a moment.

Although their Cooper family was a big family in Nova City, the Morgan Group had an even stronger background. Usually, it was very difficult for them to meet with the Morgan Group's higher-ups.

Among these people in the Cooper family, the only one who could communicate with the Morgan Group's higher-ups was Fiona Cooper.

This was something everyone couldn't understand. Except for being a bit prettier, what was so special about Fiona Cooper? Why did the people from the Morgan Group only do business with her?

"Since no one has a solution, just shut up. I don't want to hear another word of nonsense."

After everyone quieted down, the old lady continued.

For a moment, the scene became even more silent.

"Fiona, the Morgan Group's cancellation of most projects happened around the end of the workday. It was so sudden, without any warning."

"We inquired through various channels but couldn't figure out the reason. You know, the people from the Morgan Group have always been very aloof. Only you can communicate with them."

"In recent years, it's because of our cooperation with the Morgan Group that our Cooper family has been flourishing. Without the Morgan Group's projects, I'm afraid our Cooper family will have to go back to where we were three years ago," the old lady looked at Fiona with a worried expression.

"Our Cooper family mainly deals in pharmaceutical raw materials and semi-finished drugs, while the pharmaceutical business is just one of the Morgan Group's many businesses. Even if all projects are stopped, it won't cause them much loss."

"But for us, it's fatal," Fiona also said, looking worried.

"So, Fiona, you haven't been able to contact anyone from the Morgan Group either? Do you really have no idea what's going on?" the old lady continued to ask.

However, Fiona shook her head helplessly.

"Grandma, when I tried to contact them, it was already very late. They might have already gotten off work," Fiona lowered her head slightly and said, a bit uncertain.

But she knew this reason couldn't stand. It was just self-consolation.

Before, no matter what time it was, as long as there was an urgent matter, she could basically contact them.

"We can only think this way. In that case, you may need to go there tomorrow and visit the Morgan Group directly. Bring more money. It's best if you can meet with Blake Morgan," the old lady sighed deeply, feeling quite helpless.

The situation was already like this. Further discussion seemed to be of no use.

"I heard you divorced Joseph Wilson?" the old lady suddenly asked.

"Yes," Fiona lowered her head slightly.

"So be it! This marriage of yours was arranged by the old man back then. As for this marriage, my personal attitude is neither to support nor oppose it."

"Since you've divorced him, I won't say much about it," the old lady sighed.

"Mom, I'm not saying, but the many restraints we've faced in recent years are all because of that loser. If it weren't for him, our family could have had greater development and wouldn't have been at the mercy of others."

"I think Big Brother's family needs to take responsibility," Hugh Cooper spoke up again, his face flushed.

"Mom, Second Brother is right," Bernard Cooper also echoed. As long as it was to suppress Fiona's family, they spared no effort.

"Grandma, I also think they're right. Moreover, regarding this matter, Fiona should be held responsible. She was negligent," Delilah Cooper also quickly chimed in.

"When did I let you speak? I called you here to see if you had any good solutions. Since you don't have any, just shut up. How many times have I told you to shut up?" the old lady's expression changed as she scolded them.

These disputes made her weary.

Although they were dissatisfied, they gritted their teeth and lowered their heads.

After all, the family's power was in the hands of the old lady and Fiona.

"Now is a difficult time for the family. If there are any more remarks or actions unfavorable to unity, don't blame me for being rude."

"You may all leave!" The old lady stood up, tapped her cane on the ground, and spoke very sternly.

Fiona also stood up and came to the old lady's side, supporting her as they headed to the back hall.

"Grandma, regarding the Morgan Group's matter, I'll go and take a look tomorrow to see how to handle it," Fiona said to the old lady.

"I don't understand business matters either. These things can only be left to you. I'm just watching over this family on behalf of your grandfather, hoping he can wake up soon," the old lady sighed, feeling a bit helpless.

"Tonight, I also want to go see Grandpa," Fiona said softly.

"That's good. You haven't come to see him for a long time. Although he's been in a coma, he valued you the most when he was awake. If you visit him more, he might wake up one day."

"Come with me!" The old lady nodded, leaning on her cane as she led the way.
