What kind of person was the young lady, and who among those who could be friends with her was a simple person?

"It's okay. We're just ordinary friends," the guard's reaction made Joseph feel it was a bit exaggerated.

"Well, I won't disturb you then. I still have to be on duty. If you have any needs, just tell me," the guard said, nodding and bowing.

"Alright, thank you," Joseph said very politely.

"No need to thank me. It's what we should do," the guard nodded and left, looking very respectful.

"The young lady is a good person, and the friends she makes are of such high caliber. If it were other rich people, would they be so polite to us ordinary folks?" the guard returned to the security booth, muttering.

A few minutes later, several luxury cars suddenly drove over. The guard hurried out to greet them.

The window of the leading car rolled down, revealing an extremely beautiful woman wearing sunglasses.

Before long, the group filed into the elevator.Exiting on the ward floor, they followed Dr. Forrest to Peggy’s room.By now Peggy had been transferred to a standard ward, shared with two other patients. When Joseph and the others entered, the two patients and their families could only stare, stunned.Anyone who came to Nova First Hospital had some sense of which doctors carried real weight—who among them were nationally renowned. And the team trailing behind Joseph today was practically a roll call of the most respected orthopedic specialists at Nova First Hospital. It was an impressive lineup by any measure.Yet all these luminaries were clustered behind a young man named Joseph, and that alone spoke volumes about his standing.Peggy, lying in her bed, was equally taken aback. Had something dire happened to her? Why else would so many doctors show up?What’s more, most of them looked seasoned and formidable—exactly the sort of elder physicians called in for thorny cases. But the one

Stunned by the sudden kiss, Joseph stood rooted to the spot, watching Heidi walk away with a vacant gaze. It was a long while before he came back to himself. He touched the spot on his cheek where her lips had brushed, a faint, rueful smile tugging at his mouth. Some things truly lay beyond his control. His relationship with Heidi, by the looks of it, was drifting toward a place he couldn’t steer. And from the way Heidi had interacted with Mason Alvarez and Alice these last two times, they clearly had reached some sort of understanding among themselves. After lingering in a daze for a moment, Joseph finally returned to the villa. The next day, just after eleven, he headed out after lunch to pick up Lindsay Anderson.Peggy’s surgery was not a simple procedure.Even a straightforward operation required advance preparation at the hospital. He had reminded Lindsay Anderson and Fiona of this the day before. When Joseph arrived downstairs at Lindsay Anderson’s building, she came down almost

“How could I not bring you?” Joseph shot back, eyeing the way Mason Alvarez clung to him. Was she just looking for excuses to take advantage of him?“Then we’re good. I’m free these days anyway—and you know me: busy or not, I’m with you.” Mason was in high spirits.“Let’s set it for the day after tomorrow.” Joseph said, and promptly replied to Toby Dristan.“By the way, I wonder what’s going on with him and Pauline Alvarez. Did they really break up?” Mason’s gossip radar lit up. She looped her arms around Joseph’s neck and slid into his lap. Her delicate frame settled against him, a heady fragrance rising from her skin. With a figure like hers, even just holding her felt dangerously pleasant. Joseph felt his pulse stir.“Hey, you rogue—what are you spacing out for? Plotting some mischief again?” Mason pouted, feigning a scold.“Ahem, no.” “Why do you care so much about them?” “Don’t tell me you don’t want them breaking up?” Joseph pulled himself together.“Yes and no.

“Huh? Nothing—really, nothing! You misheard.” “Joseph, how do you walk without making a sound?” “Um… brother-in-law, dinner’s ready!”Joseph’s sudden voice caught the three women off guard. They straightened at once, all poise and innocence, trying a bit too hard to look proper.Watching them, Joseph felt something was off. When he’d come in, they’d clearly been chatting up a storm. The noise had muddled the words, but he’d heard plenty of laughter.“It’s not that I walk silently—it’s that you were making such a racket. I thought you were discussing something fascinating.” He spoke as he toed off his shoes.“Nope! Dinner—let’s eat. I’ll grab the bowls and chopsticks.” Alice bolted for the kitchen.“I’ll help.” Heidi scampered after her.“I’ll help too.” Mason Alvarez rose to follow.“Stop right there.” Joseph’s voice halted Mason mid-step.“What exactly are you helping with? Since when are you so industrious?” He gave her a bemused look. She was usually the last to lif

Fiona’s thoughts were elsewhere; she’d stopped tracking the conversation between Joseph and Lindsay. Before she knew it, the three of them had reached the entrance of the Supreme Teahouse.“Fiona? Fiona?” She stared blankly until Joseph called her name twice.“Huh? Mr. Wilson—were you talking to me?” She blinked back to the present, flustered.“Is there another Fiona here?” Joseph teased.“Sorry, I zoned out for a moment.” She looked a touch embarrassed.“Spacing out is fine—just don’t do it behind the wheel.” “Never let your mind drift when you’re driving. All right?” Joseph’s tone was lightly stern, but sincere.“I know. Thank you for the reminder. Was there something you wanted to say just now?” Fiona brushed a lock of hair behind her ear and smiled.“I just wanted to say goodbye. I’m driving Lindsay home.” Joseph said.“Then… goodbye, Mr. Wilson.” Fiona lifted a hand in parting.“See you tomorrow, Fiona.” Lindsay smiled as she said her farewell.“Tomorrow it is

“Huh? You want me to order?” Lindsay Anderson froze for a moment, at a loss.“Maybe not. Mr. Wilson, why don’t you pick? I’m easy—really, I’m not picky.” After a brief hesitation, Lindsay shook her head and gently declined.“All right then, I’ll just choose a few things.” Unable to persuade her, Joseph relented and began ordering. He selected a handful of dishes and then passed the menu to Fiona. “Fiona, I’ve picked a few at random. See if there’s anything else we should add.” It was her treat today, after all; he wanted to defer to the host.“Sure, I’ll add a couple more.” Fiona responded with easy poise. She ordered several house specialties, and only then did they place the final order.Sitting opposite Fiona, Lindsay glanced at her once or twice without quite meaning to, quietly marveling at how striking Fiona was. In poise, features, and figure, she was exceptional—an undeniable beauty. How is it that there are always so many beautiful women around Mr. Wilson? It was
