Many years ago.

Brianna and Vincent were both taken by Emperor Dylan to an altar. They were both told to offer firstfruits of their labor, which was the money they earned in their first month of work that they used to buy delicious food of a different kind.

After they put the rare and delicious fruits, one each, by the altar and prayed, Vincent asked Dylan, “Grandpa, why are the fruits not disappearing? Why isn’t God taking them and eating them?”

“That’s because God doesn’t exist,” Brianna opined. “But we do this as it is a custom.”

“Who said God doesn’t exist?” Dylan pulled Brianna’s cheek.

“If he exists, then why doesn’t he eat the fruits?” Brianna quickly asked another question with her little brain. She was only eight years old at the time.

“The priest is going to eat those fruits,” Dylan replied. “It is the same as God eating the fruits.”

“That makes no sense,” Brianna said. “Then why don’t we also pray to the priest? Wouldn’t that be the same as praying to God?”
