Taking the hundred gold that Branwen left would mean that Ulmer would feel guilty if he were to not prioritize Branwen over other nobles.

But leaving it on the road would also be the same as offending the noble who left a gift, albeit with craftiness.

As Ulmer kept staring at the bag, not sure if he should take the money or not, Ayana came up from behind, “What’s inside the bag?” she asked.

“10,000 silver coins,” he said. “He left it here and put me in a tough situation. If I don’t take it, I’ll offend his generosity.But if I take it, I might have to work for Branwen. What do you want me to do?”

“If you don’t want to take this money, then you should just donate this money in Branwen’s name,” Ayana suggested.

Ulmer was pleasantly surprised by her words. “You are superb, Ayana!” he almost touched her cheek to pull it, but he realized what he was doing and quickly stopped.

“It’s okay. You are my husband. So you can touch my cheek,” she said, “but let’s not do it outside on the street.”
