Chapter 112: Mary Gets Duped

Susan was exasperated but helpless about her mother. Still, giving her the money would just lead to more wasteful spending and losing it all again. A real headache.

Just then, Jason coldly remarked, "If you're so set on dying, Aaron and his men haven't gone far. Take your pick of deaths, it can be easily arranged."

"Who do you think you are, daring to lecture me? You're nothing! The world's gone mad, someone like you has no right! If there's no money today, I'll die right here!" Mary Martinez screeched.

Susan frowned. "I can give you money, but first explain what happened to my house savings. What investment company was it?"

That was three years of hard-earned savings towards a home, she couldn't just let it disappear unexplained.

But Mary Martinez hemmed and hawed evasively, "They cheated me, refused to return the money despite having it. Reneged shamelessly. I put it there for higher interest, who knew they'd deny it later..."
