Scarlet pointed to the door a few meters away from them, and Jason looked ahead to see the inscription of Assistant Manager boldly written on the door. He looked at the desk very close to the office, and she couldn’t see the Receptionist. It was as if no one had sat at the desk for months. “Where is her receptionist? Isn’t she supposed to be on duty?” Jason asked, but Scarlet scoffed at his words, and then she chuckled softly, while Jason wondered why she was amused. “I am sorry, but you are quite funny. It seems that you didn’t understand me when I told you that Miss Xena fires people who work for her after a few days of their resumption.”“Oh, is that so?” Jason chuckled even though Scarlet’s words weren't supposed to be funny. “ I think I have counted at least five innocent ladies whom she has treated badly before she eventually sacked them. Her attitude is so cruel that the Human Resource Manager is tired of recruiting any other lady to her.” Scarlet continued, but with a

“Okay, Ma'am.” Jason bowed slightly to her, and then he went into the toilet to clean, pushing the trolley until he got to the door to the bathroom. He wore the rubber hand gloves he found in the trolley, and then he pulled out the scrubber, the toilet brush, the mop stick, and then the bucket which he poured some detergents inside. He carried the bucket inside the bathroom, and then filled it with enough water before he began to wash the toilet with the brush. In less than twenty minutes, he was done washing the toilet that really didn’t have any need to be washed as there was so much proof that Xena didn’t make use of it. He mopped the floor and applied some air freshener for a good scent, as tiny sweatballs ran down his body. Wiping some of the perspiration on his face, he walked out of the bathroom, holding the bucket and the mop stick.“Are you done?” Xena asked with a loud tone as soon as she saw Jason waking out of the bathroom, panting gradually to the little fatigu

Jason took two steps backward with his eyes still staring at the door, and then he sighed softly before he proceeded to speak to Harry who was eager to hear what he was going to ask. “The Assistant Manager, I heard she started working here two years ago. I was wondering, how did she start to work here?” “You mean, Miss Xena Hunt?” “Yes, Harry. She is the one.“ Jason affirmed with a low tone, and then he listened attentively to hear what Harry was going to say from the other end of the line. “Miss Hunt used to be the Personal Assistant to the former Assistant Manager of the company, Mr. Liam. From the reports I gathered, she showed tremendous dedication to her work, and Mr. Liam spoke highly of her.” “Hmm? Okay?” Jason felt the sensation of contradiction that crept into his body as soon as he heard the words that Harry said from the other end of the line. “Two years ago, Mr. Liam got really sick and he couldn’t continue working with us. Xena covered up for him with so much

Jason looked at the middle-aged man for a while, not sure of what to say to him at that moment, seeing how exhausted he looked. “Out with it young man. I need to finish up and take a break.” The man said with a faint voice, still staring at Jason who had a strange smile on his face. “Alright, Sir. Just a moment.” Jason said calmly, and then he inhaled some air which he exhaled sharply while the man waited to hear what he was going to say. “Would you like to earn am extra two hundred dollars?” Jason asked with a firm tone, and then he looked at the man who looked at him from the crown of his hair to the sole of his shoes without saying a word.“Hello?” Jason waved at him after a few seconds of silence.“Are you into anything illegal here? What the hell are you talking about?” Matthew asked with his eyes wide open, and Jason shook his head to disagree with his words. “Not at all, Sir. Matthew thought about the question for a few seconds with his smile still intact, and when he had reached an amount within himself, he chuckled excitedly and nodded at the same time. “A thousand dollars won’t be bad at all.” “What?” “Yes!” Matthew said loudly while his smile disappeared and he more a serious look on his face. Jason was taken aback by his words, and he couldn’t believe how greedy he was trying to be. “A thousand dollars? That’s way too much, Sir.” “Well, that’s what I want,” Matthew said without being ready to budge, and Jason scoffed in so much surprise. “Look, man. You know I am just doing you a favor here. You look like you have to be somewhere really important, and I am trying to help you out here. By the way, I don’t think you would be losing a lot of money if you gave me an extra eight hundred bucks from the bundle you have in there.” Matthew pointed to the position Jason kept the rest of the cash he was with. He continued through the hallway, walking as fast as his legs could carry him even though he wasn’t sure of his plans at that moment. Several thoughts ran through his mind, and he was finding it a bit difficult to place his hands on any decision he was going to make. He got into the elevator, and in less than five minutes he was on the last floor and decided to move out of the building as soon as he remembered that he needed to check on his son. He had taken a few steps away from the elevator when a voice called out to him from a distance, causing him to turn instantly. “Jason? Jason Caruso?” The female voice said, and instantly, Jason was filled with a sensational agonizing reminiscence as he saw the face of the person calling out to him. “Is that…” He couldn’t say the name of the person as merely thinking about it caused him so much pain as it caused the pains of betrayal to flood his mind. The lady who called out to him was tall and had brown-reddish hair flowing down he

Meredith waved at the dashing young man in a blue suit walking out of a room from a corner close to the foyer of the building. He had brown eyes and thick blond hair that made him stand out amongst most of the people he was walking across. “Liam! This way!” Meredith was able to draw his attention the moment he looked up, and as soon as he saw her, he smiled and started to saunter toward her. “That’s my man! That’s Liam.” Meredith chuckled with so much excitement, looking at Jason with her eyes shooting rays of ridicule at him. “Is this really necessary, Meredith? I am sure that the young man has a lot on his table, and wouldn’t want to spend so much time talking to a stranger.” “Oh no, not my Lian. He barely does anything in here. How would he even bother to work when there are capable hands everywhere? He just sits around and orders people to do his work.” “I see.” Jason nodded with a smile, taking note of all the things she said to him. “Oh, yes. Did I mention that he

Jason remained calm, while he watched Xena walk stylishly with her face looking like she had gotten into a fight with someone. “Isn't that your cousin?” Meredith said with a cheerful smile as soon as she saw Xena, and then she stopped at once even with Liam still holding her firmly. “What’s it, babe? You already saw her last night at dinner.” “I know, Liam. I just wanna show this loser that I know the Assistant Manager of this place.” Meredith insisted with a smirk on her face, and then she looked at Jason to be sure that he heard what she said. “Huu!” Liam grunted in a little displeasure, but he really didn’t want to argue with his fiancee.Almost immediately, Meredith turned to Jason with a smirk on her face, and after giving him a scornful look, she rolled her eyes at him. “That’s my fiance’s in-law, you boss. That’s Xena, the Assistant Manager of this place. I am sure she will be pleased to know that my ex-boyfriend now works for her.” Meredith sniggered at Jason, and

Joe’s Cafe
The waitress discovered that two men were walking toward her, and adjusting herself with a welcoming smile on her face, she greeted them warmly. “Hello, Sir. Welcome to Joe’s Café. Do you need anything?” “Yes. Hello. We are looking for a lady called Shirley. I was told she works here.” Jason said with a smile as well, looking at the waitress whose countenance showed that she didn’t know who he was talking about. “Shirley? I don’t think I know any Shirley who works here, Sir. I am new here, but I can get you someone who could know.” “Yes, please! Thank you so much.” Harry said calmly, gesturing to the waitress who nodded before walking away, holding onto the small notepad and pen she had in her hands. “I really hope this ends well,” Jason said with a whisper, sighing firstly while he kept his eyes on the path the waitress took. The waitress returned in less than a minute with another waitress who looked older and more experienced than her. “Hello, Sirs. My name is Nora. I

Bring Him Home
For a few seconds, Jason remained silent, but it didn’t seem like that was going to solve anything. The old man was still waiting to get a response from him, and Harry was interested to know the outcome of their meeting as well. Adjusting himself to get a more comfortable posture, Jason cleared his throat and sighed before he spoke with a voice that almost sounded like a whisper. “He has a son.” He said calmly, but his words were too heavy for the other men in the room to remain as calm as he was. Lord Walker knew Jason to be a man who didn’t joke with such things but for a second, he remained calm, hoping that he was going to say he was joking. Maybe he meant to say something else. “A son?” “Yes, Grandpa. He has a son.” “Julius has a son?” Lord Walker leaned forward, and grabbed the half-empty glass of water which he consumed before returning it to the table. “Are you okay, Lord Walker?” Harry asked, moving closer to the old man who raised his hands to stop him from g

The rays from the sunlight were shining brightly through the casement windows inside the bedroom. The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep. As though there was a force, she opened her eyes instantly, only to behold the sight of shirtless Jason sitting close to her with a tray in both hands. “Wakie wakie! I was worried that too were not going to wake up on time to see this.” Jason had a beautiful smile on his face while he looked at Brenda who adjusted herself slowly, sitting up while she looked at the tray he was carrying. “What’s that?” “Oh! This? I made you breakfast! I had to wake up early just to make sure that everything worked as I planned. Here…” Jason opened the dish cover to reveal the egg and sausages on the plate next to a cup of black coffee. “I tried making the coffee just like you do. I hope I tried.” Jason handed the cup of coffee to Brenda who blew on the coffee before taking a sip. “Easy! I

Special Announcement
While everyone sat comfortably, eating and drinking everything that had been set on the table, Jason picked up the glass of wine in front of him, and after looking at his Grandfather and getting the signal from him, he nodded before lifting the glass. “I have a special announcement!” He hit his fork on the brim of the glass, drawing the attention of everyone seated at the table who instantly put a hold t what they were doing, and paid keen attention to him. Everyone seemed curious to know what he was about to say except the old man who was already done eating his veggies and wiped his lips with a napkin while he maintaining a grin on his face. “First of all, I want to thank Harry for bringing his lovely family to dinner. It’s such a pleasure to have you all here. Family is everything, family is life, and I am happy that he has such a beautiful family.” Jason lifted the glass toward Harry who bowed gently, still wondering what he was up to. “Harry here has been working with thi

Jason was the first to step out of the hot tub before Brenda joined him. Handing over one of the two towels he grabbed to her, he gave her a lovely smile which made her blush while she grabbed the towel, and wrapped her body with it. “You are still staring.” Brenda said with her smile intact, but Jason couldn’t take his eyes away from her, not even for a second. “What am I going to ever do without you? You have brought me so much joy, Brenda.” “Nothing, Jay. You are going to do nothing.” Brenda chuckled while Jason nodded without getting rid of his smile. “You are right. Absolutely nothing, that’s what I am going to do if I ever lose you.” “Well, I am not leaving anytime soon. I am here with you, my love.” Brenda patted Jason on both cheeks before she turned and walked toward the bedroom, holding onto her towel with both hands. “We must hurry, Jay! Price to Pay
For a few seconds Jason was silent while he exchanged glances with the couple, not sure of who he was to face. It was obvious that they were expecting to hear him speak, but the silence in the room was killing them, having more effect on Lucas who couldn’t forget the words he said to him. He was afraid that the day of reckoning had come, and it was time to pay for all his crimes. Still unable to stop himself from finger mg, especially at the sight of Ramon who gave him threatening looks, Lucas decided to grab his bottle, hoping to get back some of his composure from a gulp. “What’s that?” Jason’s calm words stopped Lucas from grabbing the bottle from the ground, causing him to remain still while he lifted his face slowly to look at him, patches of guilt all over his face. “I can’t believe this.” Jason scoffs. “You really want to drink right now. You have really drowned yourself in so much alcohol. I bet you dream of drinking while you sleep.” Jason sighed softly, and remain

Everyone remained silent amidst the tension that surrounded the air. While Lucas kept his eyes on Jason who remained still with a smirk on his face, he struggled with the contemplation of either remaining where he was standing, or moving backward. For a second, he took two steps backward, but because it felt as though his body no longer belonged to him, he couldn’t move afterward. “Hello… Dad. I see you haven’t left your old habits.” Jason pointed at the bottle of whiskey which Lucas tightly held onto even in the midst of the cringe that engulfed him. “It’s you.” Lucas’ voice was shaky. And while he held onto the half-empty bottle, he gently lifted it up to look at it, filled with thoughts of his numerous drinking adventures. It was true that he was intoxicated at that moment, but the sight of Jason and his companions made the effects of the whiskey wear off at once, leaving him to struggle with the situation. “I am just going to let myself in. Excuse me…” Jason gestured to

Hello, Mother
“You know you don’t have to come with me, right? It’s not like he is going to beat me just like he did several years ago.” Jason said to Brenda who was helping him out with his jacket. The news on the internet was getting a lot of attention from even different countries, and knowing that it wasn’t going to die down if he didn’t do anything about it, Jason decided to pay his foster parents a visit that night, discarding his initial plans to go see them the next day. “You are not going to be able to talk me out of this, Jay. I suggest you quit your attempts and allow me to come with you. Trust me, you are going to need me to support you, and I will always be by your side, Jay. No matter what.” Brenda’s words were helpful at that moment, and a bright smile appeared on Jason’s face, taking over his worried expression. “Thank you. I am glad you are coming with me, Brenda.” “Good. That’s all I needed you to say.” “But you have to go to work tomorrow, and I know how much you love

Foster Ordeal
As soon as he got the call from Brenda, Jason stepped out of the mansion and moved into the car. He drove to the hospital at once, and a few minutes after he parked the car, Brenda walked out of the building with her handbag carefully held with both hands. “Are you okay?” Jason asked, still staring at her even when she got into the car and slammed the door. “Yeah. Why?”“Nothing, love. I just wasn’t expecting that you would call me to come pick you up this early. It’s only been a few hours.” Jason looked at his Hublot wristwatch to ascertain that it wasn’t close to closing time yet. “Yeah…” Brenda grunted slowly, and after letting out the air she inhaled, she continued with a low tone. “I have just been feeling very tired lately, Jay. Even the patients I attended to noticed the difference. I think I will just rest today, probably by tomorrow I should be fine.” “Are you sure? Maybe we should go on a vacation or something. We should go…” Jason suggested, but Brenda shook her
