The Request

As so as Xena blurted out those without any form of remorse, Jason coughed impulsively, and as soon as he realized that the other two people in the room had turned to look at him, he looked down almost immediately and cleared his throat as though something had really gotten into his throat.

“Are you alright, Mr. Caruso?”

“Yes, I am fine. I am fine, Sir. Thank you.” Jason responded to the Manager who looked a bit concerned about the way he coughed and cleared his throat.

“Are you sure? You sounded like you needed some water. I could get you some if you want.”

“No, you don’t need to bother about that, Mr. Coleman. I am totally fine.” Jason insisted with a smile after he managed to turn to look at the Manager.

“Very well, if you insist,” Declan said, and then he turned to look at Xena who couldn’t hide the displeasure she had for Jason who interrupted their conversation.

“Can we go back to the reason why we are here, Mr. Declan? You can’t be concerned about him when we have mo

“And what could that be?” Scarlet asked with so much curiosity written all over her face. Jason looked at the jumpsuit in his hands for a few seconds before he turned to look at the Supervisor who was eagerly waiting to hear what he was going to say. Jason took in a deep breath which he let out slowly before he made his request with a calm voice. “Can you assign me to the office of the Assistant Manager?” Scarlet was taken aback by the request Jason made. No one had made such a request. All the Janitors even dreaded working for her due to her cold demeanor. “You mean Miss Xena Hunt?” Scarlet asked just to be sure that Jason was not mistaken, and when he nodded to affirm his words, she scoffed in shock. “Are you really sure about this?”“Absolutely.” Jason nodded in affirmation, and with a confident smile on his face. Scarlet stared at him curiously for a few seconds, but he maintained a confident smile that made her even more confused. “I am surprised, really surprise

Scarlet pointed to the door a few meters away from them, and Jason looked ahead to see the inscription of Assistant Manager boldly written on the door. He looked at the desk very close to the office, and she couldn’t see the Receptionist. It was as if no one had sat at the desk for months. “Where is her receptionist? Isn’t she supposed to be on duty?” Jason asked, but Scarlet scoffed at his words, and then she chuckled softly, while Jason wondered why she was amused. “I am sorry, but you are quite funny. It seems that you didn’t understand me when I told you that Miss Xena fires people who work for her after a few days of their resumption.”“Oh, is that so?” Jason chuckled even though Scarlet’s words weren't supposed to be funny. “ I think I have counted at least five innocent ladies whom she has treated badly before she eventually sacked them. Her attitude is so cruel that the Human Resource Manager is tired of recruiting any other lady to her.” Scarlet continued, but with a

“Okay, Ma'am.” Jason bowed slightly to her, and then he went into the toilet to clean, pushing the trolley until he got to the door to the bathroom. He wore the rubber hand gloves he found in the trolley, and then he pulled out the scrubber, the toilet brush, the mop stick, and then the bucket which he poured some detergents inside. He carried the bucket inside the bathroom, and then filled it with enough water before he began to wash the toilet with the brush. In less than twenty minutes, he was done washing the toilet that really didn’t have any need to be washed as there was so much proof that Xena didn’t make use of it. He mopped the floor and applied some air freshener for a good scent, as tiny sweatballs ran down his body. Wiping some of the perspiration on his face, he walked out of the bathroom, holding the bucket and the mop stick.“Are you done?” Xena asked with a loud tone as soon as she saw Jason waking out of the bathroom, panting gradually to the little fatigu

Jason took two steps backward with his eyes still staring at the door, and then he sighed softly before he proceeded to speak to Harry who was eager to hear what he was going to ask. “The Assistant Manager, I heard she started working here two years ago. I was wondering, how did she start to work here?” “You mean, Miss Xena Hunt?” “Yes, Harry. She is the one.“ Jason affirmed with a low tone, and then he listened attentively to hear what Harry was going to say from the other end of the line. “Miss Hunt used to be the Personal Assistant to the former Assistant Manager of the company, Mr. Liam. From the reports I gathered, she showed tremendous dedication to her work, and Mr. Liam spoke highly of her.” “Hmm? Okay?” Jason felt the sensation of contradiction that crept into his body as soon as he heard the words that Harry said from the other end of the line. “Two years ago, Mr. Liam got really sick and he couldn’t continue working with us. Xena covered up for him with so much

Jason looked at the middle-aged man for a while, not sure of what to say to him at that moment, seeing how exhausted he looked. “Out with it young man. I need to finish up and take a break.” The man said with a faint voice, still staring at Jason who had a strange smile on his face. “Alright, Sir. Just a moment.” Jason said calmly, and then he inhaled some air which he exhaled sharply while the man waited to hear what he was going to say. “Would you like to earn am extra two hundred dollars?” Jason asked with a firm tone, and then he looked at the man who looked at him from the crown of his hair to the sole of his shoes without saying a word.“Hello?” Jason waved at him after a few seconds of silence.“Are you into anything illegal here? Matthew thought about the question for a few seconds with his smile still intact, and when he had reached an amount within himself, he chuckled excitedly and nodded at the same time. “A thousand dollars won’t be bad at all.” “What?” “Yes!” Matthew said loudly while his smile disappeared and he more a serious look on his face. Jason was taken aback by his words, and he couldn’t believe how greedy he was trying to be. “A thousand dollars? That’s way too much, Sir.” “Well, that’s what I want,” Matthew said without being ready to budge, and Jason scoffed in so much surprise. “Look, man. You know I am just doing you a favor here. You look like you have to be somewhere really important, and I am trying to help you out here. By the way, I don’t think you would be losing a lot of money if you gave me an extra eight hundred bucks from the bundle you have in there.” Matthew pointed to the position Jason kept the rest of the cash he was with. He continued through the hallway, walking as fast as his legs could carry him even though he wasn’t sure of his plans at that moment. Several thoughts ran through his mind, and he was finding it a bit difficult to place his hands on any decision he was going to make. He got into the elevator, and in less than five minutes he was on the last floor and decided to move out of the building as soon as he remembered that he needed to check on his son. He had taken a few steps away from the elevator when a voice called out to him from a distance, causing him to turn instantly. “Jason? Jason Caruso?” The female voice said, and instantly, Jason was filled with a sensational agonizing reminiscence as he saw the face of the person calling out to him. “Is that…” He couldn’t say the name of the person as merely thinking about it caused him so much pain as it caused the pains of betrayal to flood his mind. The lady who called out to him was tall and had brown-reddish hair flowing down he

Meredith waved at the dashing young man in a blue suit walking out of a room from a corner close to the foyer of the building. He had brown eyes and thick blond hair that made him stand out amongst most of the people he was walking across. “Liam! This way!” Meredith was able to draw his attention the moment he looked up, and as soon as he saw her, he smiled and started to saunter toward her. “That’s my man! That’s Liam.” Meredith chuckled with so much excitement, looking at Jason with her eyes shooting rays of ridicule at him. “Is this really necessary, Meredith? I am sure that the young man has a lot on his table, and wouldn’t want to spend so much time talking to a stranger.” “Oh no, not my Lian. He barely does anything in here. How would he even bother to work when there are capable hands everywhere? He just sits around and orders people to do his work.” “I see.” Jason nodded with a smile, taking note of all the things she said to him. “Oh, yes. Did I mention that he

  • Marry me

It had been a month since Julius was brought out of prison, and everything was going as everyone had hoped for. He had been of good conduct, keeping to the conditions that were given to him by Jason. But that didn’t mean that any chances could be taken with him. His reputation as a notorious criminal who had claimed lives made it quite difficult to trust him. The fact that he had been exonerated from the guilt of his actions was too much grade for him, and it would have been foolish of him to let it go to waste. He had spent the entire month begging for Shirley’s forgiveness, but she kept her distance, maintaining a mutual relationship with him which was based on the fact that they had a child together. Xavier on the other hand was old enough to understand that sometimes things don’t always go the way we want them. Even though he wished that his parents could be together someday, he also knew that his mother was only trying to be safe. She didn’t want to have to repeat the sam

  • Conditional Freedom

Days turned to weeks, and then to a month. Jason fulfilled his promise to Xavier and made sure he went to one of the best schools in the city. He knew that the boy still thought about his father even though he stopped talking about him, probably because his mind was occupied with school assignments, and some of the things Jason got him involved in just to make sure he stayed away from silly acts. Seated with Lord Walker, Jason waited patiently for the old man to speak, aware of what was about to be heard. “Jack?” Lord Walker leaned forward before he continued. “I know that Julius isn’t particularly the best Uncle in the entire world, but he is still family. I know that this is a very difficult decision for you to make. But you have to do this for the sake of the boy…” Lord Walker paused for a few seconds just to be certain that Jason was listening to him. He sighed softly and continued with a more audible tone. “Keeping him there way cause be painful for the boy even thoug

  • Reunion

Standing in front of Jason was Clark, the same best friend who turned out to be one of his enemies. He had lost his charm and confidence and almost looked like a better. He couldn’t even look at Jason for more than a few seconds before he bent his face to the ground in shame. It appeared that his outfit was oversized, but that was only proof that he had lost a lot of weight. “Why are you here, Clark? I am sure you didn’t just come to stare at me.” Jason broke the silence between them, staring at Clark with a smirk on his face. Brenda would have asked a few questions, but as soon as Jason mentioned the name of the man standing in front of them, she remembered some of the stories he told him about how his best friend betrayed him and went after his wife. She was only interested to know why Clark was there. “I am here to ask for your forgiveness, Jason. I also want to appreciate you for getting me out of jail.” Clark managed to say with a shaky tone. He couldn’t even look at Ja

  • I am Pregnant!

It had been three days since Xavier and his mother pleaded that Julius be set free but nothing had been done about it. Jason was taking his time to make a decision about his step-uncle’s fate. It seemed like it was going to take more time before he could be able to come t a conclusion. Lord Walker himself was wondering why Jason had not said anything about it, but he also knew that he was worried about his safety. After seeing and hearing what Julius was capable of, Jason had no other option than to keep the decision pending until he was done with some of the plans he had in mind. First, he enrolled Xavier in high school. He attended one of the best schools in Granada Hills, and the goal was to make sure that the young man didn’t need up on the streets ever again. Shirley on the other hand was going through a rehabilitation process. She was made to speak to someone and undergo struct measures of check which were often conducted to make sure she didn’t go back to her old habi

  • Release Him

The next day, it was finally time to bring back Lord Walker from the hospital after his recovery. Jason went together with the Butler, Brenda, and Xavier who insisted that he was going to go with them. Not only was he eager to see his mother, but he also wanted to see his Grandfather who almost sacrificed himself for his sake. By the time they arrived at the hospital, the old man was already seated on the bed while one of the nurses attending to him handed him over his drugs and a glass of water. “Thank you, my dear.” He said to the nurse as soon as he was done with his medication while he handed over the empty glass to her. He turned to his visitors and the brightness of his face increased at once, causing him to gesture to them at once. “I know what you are about to say, Jack…” He shook his head, but that wasn’t going to stop Jason from expressing himself. “That was really silly, Grandpa! You almost got yourself killed!” Jason walked up to the old man ahead of the other

  • Retribution

Xavier hesitated for a while, but he eventually mustered the guts to move. “Go ahead.” Jason urged him as soon as he took the first steps, and he continued moving, eyes on his father who was shocked to see him. Julius could tell that Xavier was truly his son, he didn’t think he needed any DNA to prove that. The resemblance was alarming, and the fact that the boy reminded him of himself when he was about the same age was enough. But he didn’t seem like he was the proudest father at that moment. He was glad that he had been given the opportunity to see his son, but he was equally ashamed of himself. Unable to get closer to the iron bars, he stood where he was, waiting patiently for Xavier to get closer to him. The boy stood in front of his father, staring at him without knowing what exactly he was supposed to say at that moment. The reunion wasn’t as pleasant as he had expected it to be. Father and son remained for over a minute, but their eyes said a lot to each other while

With their panic rising, Jason and Brenda paced along the hallway, waiting for anyone to come out of the theater. It had gotten so long that Jason had to send for Cara who came along with some guards to take Henry back to the Villa while they continued waiting anxiously. Eventually, the Doctor came out of the theater dripping with sweatballs that ran down his face. “Doctor?! What’s going on?” Jason asked anxiously, but instead of giving him a response, the Doctor moved to Brenda and whispered some words into her ear, making sure that Jason wasn’t going to hear their conversation. Brenda responded with a whisper as well before the Doctor nodded and hurried back to the theater without saying a word to Jason whom he only stared at while he expected him to say something. “Why didn’t he say anything to me?! What did he say, babe? Talk to me!” Jason moved closer to Brenda who looked like she didn’t know how to tell him what the Doctor whispered into her ear. “Brenda?” Jason call

Brenda was silent for a while, but Jason was patient enough to wait for a response to his question. Firstly, she grabbed Henry from Jason and made sure he was sitting comfortably on her legs. She took in a deep breath which she let out slowly before she turned to look at Jason. “I am listening, Brenda. What were you guys discussing back there?”“Nothing really. Just girls’ talk.” “Okay?” Jason featured with both hands, indicating that he wanted to hear more details about their discussion. “I thought you said you were not so much interested in her, Jay. Why bothering to ask what we were discussing?”“Me? When did I say that?”“Well, you implied it.” Brenda shrugged, looking at Jason with a smirk on her face. “Just tell me what you guys were talking about back there, Brenda. She could have said something that needs to be verified by me. No other person knows her like I do.” Jason insisted. “Okay, fine.” Brenda sighed. “I was just worried about the way she looked, that’s

  • Motherhood

The sight of his ex-wife made Jason sigh, his previous countenance gave way for a frown that appeared as he stared at Isabella who managed to push the two guards aside because they let her do so. But they went after her and grabbed her at once, restraining her efforts to get close to Jason or her son. “Jason! Tell them to let me go! Let me go! Let me go!” Isabella continued to struggle with the guards, but she eventually got tired, panting in exhaustion while Jason and Brenda watched her with a little surprised written all over their faces. Henry recognized his biological mother, but it didn’t look like he was really concerned or excited to see her. He just stared at her as though he was trying to recall where he met her. “Tell them to let me go, Jason! Please.” Isabella pleaded, but Jason wasn’t really interested in the words that she uttered. What made him curious was the fact that she looked very unkempt and malnourished. It had been a few weeks since he last saw her, and h
