Kelvin was silent from his own end, but the clicking sound of the keys on the keyboard of his laptop could be heard while Jason waited patiently for him to speak. “Yes! He decided to go pay James a visit to the hospital, and as soon as he arrived, he walked into the ward where he met the other guard Ace who was seated in front of James. Turning toward the direction he heard the sound of the car from, Jason looked at once, expecting to see Brenda and Tricia, but it was a car that he recognized as soon as he set his eyes on it. It was one of the cars that the guards left with, and within a few seconds, another car drove in behind it. Shirley was silent for a while, but the men standing close to her knew that she was thinking of the right answer to give to them, so they didn’t mind waiting until she was ready to speak. Eventually, she figured out what to tell them, and sighed heavily before she spoke with a loud whisper, trying as much as she could to be audible enough. “There was this man, he came looking for my son a few weeks ago. He said he stole something from him, and that he was meant to pay back for it. I told him that my son was not home, but he said he knew where to find him. He left and never came back.” Shirley sniffled, suppressing the extra tears that tried to roll down her face from her eyes. “When my son came back, I tried to warn him about the strange man, but he never listens. I pleaded with him to go far away, but he is as stubborn as his father. A week later, some men came to the house and took us. They blindfolded us and took us to this beautiful house where there were a lot of guards.”

The silence between them was laced with a little tension, but they were hopeful that something positive was going to come out of their adventure. The waitress discovered that two men were walking toward her, and adjusting herself with a welcoming smile on her face, she greeted them warmly. “Hello, Sir. Welcome to Joe’s Café. For a few seconds, Jason remained silent, but it didn’t seem like that was going to solve anything. The old man was still waiting to get a response from him, and Harry was interested to know the outcome of their meeting as well. Adjusting himself to get a more comfortable posture, Jason cleared his throat and sighed before he spoke with a voice that almost sounded like a whisper. “He has a son.” He said calmly, but his words were too heavy for the other men in the room to remain as calm as he was. The rays from the sunlight were shining brightly through the casement windows inside the bedroom. The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep.
