Irene was hesitant to respond to the question, but after a few seconds, she turned around without looking at anybody in particular.

“Me, Sir. I am also a chef here.” The young man who Irene was standing beside said, lifting both his right hand and his face.

“Oh, I see. Come forward.” Jason said, and the man stepped forward immediately and stood beside Irene. They exchanged glances at each other, and it was really easy to tell that there was a rivalry between them.

“What’s your name, Young man?”

“Joe, Sir. My name is Joe,” he responded with a very audible tone, lifting his head to look at Jason for a few seconds, before returning it to its previous position.

“Well, Joe, how long have you been cooking here?”

Joe sighed heavily, and then he looked at Irene whose face was bent to the ground, before giving an answer to the question.

“Three years and four months, Sir.”

Jason nodded with a smile on his face, having understood what was really going on between them.
