Jason was patient, that was one question that had lingered in his mind, and he was determined to find out everything about it, he wasn’t going to leave any stone unturned. Gregory looked at Jason, and it was very obvious that he was patient and eager to hear what he was going to say. “Dave was really a successful man. At a very young age, he had acquired so much wealth that only a few people his age could be able to acquire. Surely he must have had people who were envious of him, to have wanted him dead.” “So this means that he had a lot of enemies.” “Well, you could put it that way. There was no outright challenge or anything that could entail provocation, but I am sure that some of those who felt challenged by his success would have wanted to get him out of the way.” “Hmm,” Jason mumbled with a low tone, and then he sighed heavily, and placed his right hand underneath his chin, balancing his head with it, while he drifted into a short period of thinking. While he was at

Jason stood up almost immediately, and the Attorney joined him, holding onto the two files in his hands. “See you, Gregory,” Jason said, extending his hands for a handshake, while Gregory brought forward his right hand as well, and they shook. “I should see you to the outside of the building.” “Oh no, that won’t be necessary, I am sure you have some other things of importance to do, I will see myself out,” Jason said, putting his hand toward the Attorney in a gesture that showed he was satisfied. “If you say so.” “Yeah. Have a nice day.” “You too,” Gregory said while he maintained a smile on his face, as he watched Jason walk through the door, and toward the car parked in front of the building. “So much like his father.” He said with a whisper, as soon as Jason was out of sight, with a smile of admiration on his face. A few seconds later, he sighed heavily, and then he turned to his right and went into the next room, walking with slow but steady steps. Jason unlocked

Jason’s voice was resonant and had traces of strong determination laced in it, but that didn't stop the middle-aged man from giving in to the worry in his mind. “Are you really sure about this? This could really be dangerous.” “I know, that is why it has to be a secret between the two of us, no one has to know about my existence till all of this is over.” “And the workers? The bodyguards? We can’t trust them to be silent.” “Mm?” Jason mumbled softly, thinking about the words that the butler said. “You have a point, Harry. Let me think…” For a few seconds, Jason silently thought about the situation, and when an idea came to his mind, he nodded in satisfaction and turned to look at Harry who had been waiting for him to speak. “I will stay at my father’s safe house, I don’t think anyone could be really suspicious about it.” Harry sighed, he thought about Jason’s decision, and he didn’t seem really convinced that it was a good idea. “I will have to get more men to guard
The Rising Phoenix: Devisee’s escapade. The Contract
Flipping over the documents in the large file, Jason saw several lists of the establishments belonging to his family, and the details, including the managers, some of the significant workers, and so many other details. There were also records of all the establishments they had dealings with and copies of some of the contracts attached to them. “Palmer Pharmaceuticals?” Jason asked with his eyes open, pointing at the documents he had flipped to. “Your Grandfather used to be business partners with the late Lord Richard Palmer. He helped him with most of the funds he needed to start up his establishments.” Harry said at once, walking up to Jason who looked surprised. “This contract is meant to last till the end of next month, it is stated here.” “Yes, Young Master. Do you want me to terminate the contract immediately?” “No, Harry. That won’t be necessary, I think I have better plans for them.” Jason chuckled, and then he continued to look at the details of the contract, mak

He nodded in satisfaction, lifted the notepad, and after a few seconds of staring at the words he had written, he chuckled softly and returned the notepad to the table, placing the pen on top of it. “Let’s see what we have here!” Taking the large black file from his lap, and placing it on the table, he adjusted himself on the seat and continued going through it, meticulously reading the details of every page he flipped open. He took notes of several details that interested him and made sure that he got the names of some of the notable managers and workers in some of the establishments belonging to his father, especially those in Granada Hills, and around. Jason spent several hours in the room, and by the time he checked the time on his wristwatch, he realized that he was way past the time he had planned to spend there. “Shit! It’s past seven, I didn’t even realize that I had spent so much time here.” He sighed heavily, and then he slowly got up from the chair and covered t

Finally, he picked up the Christian Dior Sauvage bottle of perfume and sprayed it on his neck and wrists. The sweet fragrance hit his nose, and he nodded in satisfaction. He took a glance at his reflection in the mirror in the wardrobe, and then he picked up a wristwatch, his phone, and the sheets of paper inside the pocket of the trousers he had put on previously, and put them inside the pocket of the new trouser. He put on the wristwatch and left the room, shutting the door behind him. “Good Evening, Young Master.” “Oh, hello. Joe right?” “Yes Young Master, I came to tell you that dinner is ready.” “Oh, I will be right behind you.” The young man with a toque on his head bowed slightly, and then he left for the staircase with Jason walking slowly behind him. They continued to walk until they got to the dining hall, with Harry standing in wait. “You look really good, Young Master!” “Thank you, Harry,” Jason said with a smile on his face, while Harry reciprocated f

“Are you okay, Young Master?” Harry asked after a few minutes they started heading to their destination. Without saying a word, Jason turned to look at Harry, and after a few seconds, he looked away and faced the window of the moving car. Harry thought he was unusually quiet, and the look he saw on his face confirmed his thought. Jason was silent for a few seconds, and then he turned to look at Harry who was still staring at him with a little concern. “Harry?” “Yes, Young Master.” “My father. Was he a bad man? Did he get involved in any shady business or deal?” Harry was silent. At first, he thought the young man was not in his right senses for asking such a question, but the look on his face debunked the idea he had in his mind. “Harry?” Jason said with a low tone, taking the middle-aged man off his thoughts. “You haven’t answered my question,” Jason said with the same tone, but Harry pushed for a while before he started to respond to the question. He looked at th

Seeing the structure of the huge white luxurious Grand villa, Jason could only gasp in shock, it had an ancient look, yet blended into the features of a modern villa. The gardens surrounding it were marvelous, well-groomed with different kinds of flowers in them. He could see a tall statue of a man standing right in the middle of the villa. The statue was made of bronze and stood over twenty feet. The man had a helmet on his head, and a sword drawn from the sheath strapped to his waist, resting comfortably in his right hand. He held onto a large shield and positioned himself like he was about to attack someone with his swords, roaring in valor at the sensation of war. “Who is that?” Jason asked as soon as he had taken a few seconds to glance at the tall statue, not able to withstand the pressure mounted on him by his curiosity. “That is King Edward Walker, the ruler of the ancient Granada Hills, and the first king who passed on the mantle of leadership to his sons until the tw

The rays from the sunlight were shining brightly through the casement windows inside the bedroom. The curtains were half closed, giving way to the rays that hit Brenda’s eyes while she groaned in her sleep. As though there was a force, she opened her eyes instantly, only to behold the sight of shirtless Jason sitting close to her with a tray in both hands. “Wakie wakie! I was worried that too were not going to wake up on time to see this.” Jason had a beautiful smile on his face while he looked at Brenda who adjusted herself slowly, sitting up while she looked at the tray he was carrying. “What’s that?” “Oh! This? I made you breakfast! I had to wake up early just to make sure that everything worked as I planned. Here…” Jason opened the dish cover to reveal the egg and sausages on the plate next to a cup of black coffee. “I tried making the coffee just like you do. I hope I tried.” Jason handed the cup of coffee to Brenda who blew on the coffee before taking a sip. “Easy! I

Special Announcement
While everyone sat comfortably, eating and drinking everything that had been set on the table, Jason picked up the glass of wine in front of him, and after looking at his Grandfather and getting the signal from him, he nodded before lifting the glass. “I have a special announcement!” He hit his fork on the brim of the glass, drawing the attention of everyone seated at the table who instantly put a hold t what they were doing, and paid keen attention to him. Everyone seemed curious to know what he was about to say except the old man who was already done eating his veggies and wiped his lips with a napkin while he maintaining a grin on his face. “First of all, I want to thank Harry for bringing his lovely family to dinner. It’s such a pleasure to have you all here. Family is everything, family is life, and I am happy that he has such a beautiful family.” Jason lifted the glass toward Harry who bowed gently, still wondering what he was up to. “Harry here has been working with thi

Jason was the first to step out of the hot tub before Brenda joined him. Handing over one of the two towels he grabbed to her, he gave her a lovely smile which made her blush while she grabbed the towel, and wrapped her body with it. “You are still staring.” Brenda said with her smile intact, but Jason couldn’t take his eyes away from her, not even for a second. “What am I going to ever do without you? You have brought me so much joy, Brenda.” “Nothing, Jay. You are going to do nothing.” Brenda chuckled while Jason nodded without getting rid of his smile. “You are right. Absolutely nothing, that’s what I am going to do if I ever lose you.” “Well, I am not leaving anytime soon. I am here with you, my love.” Brenda patted Jason on both cheeks before she turned and walked toward the bedroom, holding onto her towel with both hands. “We must hurry, Jay! We are having guests, remember?”“Oh, right! I almost forgot about that!” Jason rushed into the room, and got dressed alongsi

Price to Pay
For a few seconds Jason was silent while he exchanged glances with the couple, not sure of who he was to face. It was obvious that they were expecting to hear him speak, but the silence in the room was killing them, having more effect on Lucas who couldn’t forget the words he said to him. He was afraid that the day of reckoning had come, and it was time to pay for all his crimes. Still unable to stop himself from finger mg, especially at the sight of Ramon who gave him threatening looks, Lucas decided to grab his bottle, hoping to get back some of his composure from a gulp. “What’s that?” Jason’s calm words stopped Lucas from grabbing the bottle from the ground, causing him to remain still while he lifted his face slowly to look at him, patches of guilt all over his face. “I can’t believe this.” Jason scoffs. “You really want to drink right now. You have really drowned yourself in so much alcohol. I bet you dream of drinking while you sleep.” Jason sighed softly, and remain

Everyone remained silent amidst the tension that surrounded the air. While Lucas kept his eyes on Jason who remained still with a smirk on his face, he struggled with the contemplation of either remaining where he was standing, or moving backward. For a second, he took two steps backward, but because it felt as though his body no longer belonged to him, he couldn’t move afterward. “Hello… Dad. I see you haven’t left your old habits.” Jason pointed at the bottle of whiskey which Lucas tightly held onto even in the midst of the cringe that engulfed him. “It’s you.” Lucas’ voice was shaky. And while he held onto the half-empty bottle, he gently lifted it up to look at it, filled with thoughts of his numerous drinking adventures. It was true that he was intoxicated at that moment, but the sight of Jason and his companions made the effects of the whiskey wear off at once, leaving him to struggle with the situation. “I am just going to let myself in. Excuse me…” Jason gestured to

Hello, Mother
“You know you don’t have to come with me, right? It’s not like he is going to beat me just like he did several years ago.” Jason said to Brenda who was helping him out with his jacket. The news on the internet was getting a lot of attention from even different countries, and knowing that it wasn’t going to die down if he didn’t do anything about it, Jason decided to pay his foster parents a visit that night, discarding his initial plans to go see them the next day. “You are not going to be able to talk me out of this, Jay. I suggest you quit your attempts and allow me to come with you. Trust me, you are going to need me to support you, and I will always be by your side, Jay. No matter what.” Brenda’s words were helpful at that moment, and a bright smile appeared on Jason’s face, taking over his worried expression. “Thank you. I am glad you are coming with me, Brenda.” “Good. That’s all I needed you to say.” “But you have to go to work tomorrow, and I know how much you love

Foster Ordeal
As soon as he got the call from Brenda, Jason stepped out of the mansion and moved into the car. He drove to the hospital at once, and a few minutes after he parked the car, Brenda walked out of the building with her handbag carefully held with both hands. “Are you okay?” Jason asked, still staring at her even when she got into the car and slammed the door. “Yeah. Why?”“Nothing, love. I just wasn’t expecting that you would call me to come pick you up this early. It’s only been a few hours.” Jason looked at his Hublot wristwatch to ascertain that it wasn’t close to closing time yet. “Yeah…” Brenda grunted slowly, and after letting out the air she inhaled, she continued with a low tone. “I have just been feeling very tired lately, Jay. Even the patients I attended to noticed the difference. I think I will just rest today, probably by tomorrow I should be fine.” “Are you sure? Maybe we should go on a vacation or something. We should go…” Jason suggested, but Brenda shook her

The Viral News
The Butler remained silent for over ten seconds, but the stillness made Jason’s anxiety linger while he approached him with a curious expression on his face. “Harry? Is my Grandfather okay? Where is Henry?”“Lord Walker is fine. Nothing has happened to Ed to your son.” “Okay? So why the long face? What’s going on?” Jason was relieved that his greatest fear was not the reason for the Butler’s worrisome look, but he still needed to know what was happening. “We might have a little problem, Young Master.” “Problem? Talk to me, Harry! You are not saying anything!” Jason became a little bit impatient, and while he waited for a response, he went through his mind at once, thinking if anything that may have been the reason for yeh words from the middle-aged man. “Your parents, Young Master. They are on the news.” Harry said calmly, but his words made Jason confused while he looked at him with a bemused expression. “What the hell are you talking about, Harry? My parents are dead, y

Desperate Plea
The words from Jason hit Julius like a thunderbolt, and he was forced to keep quiet even though he never intended to. For a few seconds the middle-aged man remained calm, eyes on Jason who was waiting to be certain that he wasn’t going to say any other thing. “Good…” Jason sighed softly, and then he cleared his throat before he continued with a smirk on his face. “Now that I have your attention, I think it would be nice for us to get straight to the reason why I am here.” He paused for a few seconds just to be sure that Julius was paying attention, and continued when he was satisfied with the look on his face. “It’s very obvious that you deserve to be locked up forever, and the key thrown into the ocean, but unfortunately, you are still family. Now, I wonder what I am going to do with you, Julius. Trust me, I want to grab your neck with both hands and strangle you, but Grandpa…” Jason paused suddenly, and a heavy sigh left him. “Did the old man send you? Is he unable to hand
