Chapter 17 - Getting Married?! II

Rose and Claudia were sitting in her car. Rose was getting ready to drive away. "Claudia, what really is the meaning of this? Do you really have to cause trouble like this? You just had to stay put!" Rose said. She really could not control herself when she found out what Claudia had done. She actually annouced that she was getting married.

Getting Married?! How can she even think of something like this?!

"Then what were you expecting me to do? That person was doing it in purpose! He was targeting me on purpose!" Claudia said. She was so angry. She won an award today! It was supposed to be a really good evening for her. What kind of crappy luck did she have to meet someone like Ryder? Why does he even want to make things difficult for him? She has not even done anything to him!

"But still you...you should not be so impulsive! How are we going to deal with this now? How are we going to deal with the reporters? Everyone thinks that you are going to get married for good ness sake!" Rose said. She really felt like she was going to get a heart áttáck one of these days working for Claudia. She felt as if she had aged a few years in a single night. Doesn't she know that she should not cause trouble like this? How are they going to deal with things from now on?

Claudia paused to think about Rose said. It seems that she did over react today. Whatever! It wasn't completely her fault anyway! That idoit Richardwas just going out of his way to annoy her! There was no way she would have kept quiet and said nothing about it.

"Whatever. Just drive me home. I'm tired. I want to rest" Claudia said. She did not want to think about anything right now. She was going to think about how she was going to deal with the rumours when she had rested enough.

Rose thought, "of course you are tired. You are the celebrity. You are not the one who has to deal with the aftermath of you causing trouble"

Still, even though she was worried, she knew that there was nothing that she could do now. She could only agree to drive Claudia home. She was sure that they would be asked to go to the company first thing tommorow morning. They would think about what they were going to do then. She too was tired! She too wanted to rest!

Claudia wasn't surprised when she entered her house and saw her mother waiting for her. She knew that this woman certainly won't let something like this. She had let Rose go home immediately she got home because she knew that it had been a long day for her.

Thinking about it now, she should have let her stay a bit more. Then she would have been able to deal with her mother for her.

As expected, as soon as Claudia sat on the sofa, her mother came onto her.

"Is it true Claudia? Are you really getting married?" Vanessa asked her daughter.

Claudia turned to look at her. Can't this woman give her a break?

"Can't you give me a break?" Claudia asked. She had a lot of things to think about. Even though she was pretending not to care in front of Rose, the truth was that she realized that she had done something wrong. She should not have let that mad man get to her! She is the one who will have to deal with the aftermath now.

"What do you mean? My daughter is getting married! How do you want me to give you a break? I haven't even talked about how you did not tell me anything about it and how I had to hear it from the news. Anyway, it's a really good thing that you are getting married!" Vanessa said. She was obviously very excited. Even though Claudia did not tell her that she was getting married, she was already very thankful that there was someone in her life. She had really started thinking that her daughter was going to be alone for the rest of her Life! Even if she had not talked her, Vanessa was still obviously very happy!

"Mom...do you know that I won the award today? Are you going to talk about that?" Claudia asked. She felt that her award was no longer worth anything because of Ryder!

That damned Richardseriously! Why did someone like that have to appear in her life?

"What's the big deal with an award? You win a couple of awards each year! You are getting married! This is the really big news! But..why didn't you tell me that you were seeing that guy? You said that there was nothing going on between the both of you. Can't you even tell your mother about your relationships?" Vanessa asked Claudia.

Even though she was really happy that Claudia was getting married, she was still ultimately sad that her daughter was keeping these parts of her life away from her.

Claudia kept quiet. What's the big deal with an award? Her mother seriously.....

Forget it. She could not be bothered to talk to her.

"Forget it. I'm going to bed" Claudia said. She just wanted to sleep right now.

"En...why are you going to bed? We need to talk about your marriage! When are we going to meet his family? We should set a date!" Vanessa said. She could not understand how a woman can be so nonchalant about her marriage.

Claudia really wanted to laugh. Talk about her marriage? Meet his family? Set a date? This should be the biggest joke of the year!

Claudia suddenly could not control her emotions anymore. "I'm not getting married mom! I'm not going to get married to anyone!" Claudia gelled. She just wanted to be left alone right now. Can't her mother understand and leave her alone?

"What are you talking about Claudia? What do you mean by you are not getting married? Then the news...." Vanessa's voice was low now. She finally realized that something seemed to be bothering Claudia.

"I was lying! I'm not marrying Ryder! I'm not going to get married! I don't want to marry anyone! Can't you please just give me a break? Can't I live my Life if I don't get Married? I really just want to be left alone! Is that too much to ask?" Claudia asked. She was so close to tears now.

"What do you mean by you don't want to get married? No matter what, Claudia you can't be alone for the rest of your life...." Claudia did not let her mother finish.

"Who said that I can't be alone? I can be alone! I can totally be myself for the rest of my life! I don't need someone else in my life!" Claudia said. She already had her life planned out.

She was going to work hard and earn a lot of money right now. Then, in the latter half of her Life, she is going to spend her money travelling around the world and living a luxury life. She did not need to get married. In fact, she did not want to get Married. She just wanted to be alone! What's so wrong with being alone?

"You can't say that Claudia! How can someone be alone for the rest of thier life? It's hateful being alone" Vanessa said. She too wanted to cry. She did not know how her daughter turned out like this. How come she wants to be left alone so badly?

"It's not hateful. It's not hateful at all! I want to be alone! I don't want to get married! I don't need to get married. I don't need another person in my Life. I can totally take care of myself for the rest of my life!" Claudia said. Her mother really.....

"But Claudia...no matter how much money you earn...you can't not get married. As a woman.. you need to get Married.." once again, Claudia did not let her mother finish.

"Will I only have worth as a woman when I get married? Can't I be a person of my own!?" Claudia asked her mother.

"No... that's not what I mean Claudia. But...you won't be happy. I just want you to be happy. No matter what, you should be happy. How can you be happy if you are alone?" Vanessa asked.

"Of course I'm going to be happy. I don't need to get married to be happy. I'm already very happy right now!" Claudia said.

"Are you sure? Are you happy?" Vanessa asked.

"I..." Claudia paused. Right now, is she happy?

"Of course! I'm happy! I'm very happy right now! I don't want to get married and end up like you!" Claudia said. She did not mean to say it but because she was so agitated, she ended up blurting it out.

Vanessa paused. So, it was because of this. Her failed marriage had casted a shadow on her daughter.

"Claudia.. you should not judge life with what happened with your father and I. Maybe my Marriage was a failure but there are people are happily married" Vanessa said in a soft tone, like she was trying to convince Claudia.

Claudia scoffed. "You don't need to worry mom. I'm not so short sighted as to judge marriage because of you and Dad. You are right. Even though he left his wife and five year old daughter to go off with some woman, there are still happy marriages around. I just don't want to get married and this doesn't have anything to do with anyone else!" Claudia said. After saying her peice, she walked away. She did not want to continue this conversation with her mother anymore.

Vanessa stood there as she watched her daughter walk away. It seems that Claudia's condition was much more serious than she thought.

Because Claudia has brought it up, she could not help thinking about her ex husband. Philip....that b*stard of a man! He said that he was going to love her forever.

It seemed that forever doesn't last that long.....

Matt and Richardwere going home.

"What the hell is the meaning of this? The both of you are getting married? How is this even possible?" Matt asked. He knew it. He knew that he while not have let this person come to the award ceremony with him! How can he...how can he even do something like this?

"It's not my fault! It's Claudia! I really don't know what that woman is thinking in her head! How can she annouce that we are getting married? Who wants to get married with her? I think that there's something seriously wrong with her" Richardsaid. He felt really wronged. Really, why on Earth did he have to meet someone like Claudia? What did he do for him to run into her?

Matt rolled his eyes. He knew that Claudia would or have done something like that if she wasn't provoked. This idoit definitely had something to do with it!

"What? It's Scarlet's fault? Do you dare to say that you didn't do anything to her? You must have dine something for her to react like this! Claudia has never had any scandals like this since she debuted five years ago! She's pretty much one of the artists who don't cause trouble! Everything changed the second she met you!" Matt said. He could not be bothered to think that Richardwas his boss right now. After all, he is the PR director and he is the one who has to deal with the mess that Claudia and Richardcaused today.

"What do you mean? Do you mean that all of this is my fault? Claudia only started to have scandals because of me?!" Richardasked. He could not believe this. Even Matt isn't on this side!

That Claudia seriously...he just wanted to strangle her and be done with it! How can someone be so annoying?
