Chapter 13

The few people at the restaurant turned their gazes at the retreating figure of Hailey while murmuring among themselves. They were wondering what it was that made her rush outside in that manner.

Meanwhile, Hailey had received a distressing text message and a call followed afterwards.

Swiftly, she picked up the call as soon as she got outside the restaurant. “Hello, Mr. Landon. I just saw your text message now. I don't quite understand what it means.”

From the other end of the line, Mr. Landon let out a deep sigh before replying. "I'm sorry Miss Hailey, the new boss doesn't want you as the face of any of our products so the deal has been canceled. Sorry for the inconveniences.”

"What? This is unacceptable.” Hailey barked. She was visibly furious at the news that had just been broken to her.

“How can you just wake up and cancel my deal with Aura cosmetics?”

"Well, it's not in my place to make the final decision. As I already told you, there's been a change in power and the new boss doesn't want us to work with you.” Landon spoke in a sullen voice. His job was also hanging on a thread, judging by how he treated Liam when he got a scar after the accident.

His thoughts drifted to those times and he remembered calling Liam ugly. Indeed, that was an unfair thing to say to a colleague who met with an accident while on duty at work.

“I need to see him now." Hailey's loud voice jolted him out of his thoughts.

“Oh, I see. Give me a minute, I need to get confirmation from him. If he's willing to see you, then I'll inform you."

Landon put the call on hold and ran back to the conference hall to speak with Liam.

“Sir." Although the word sounded awkward in his lips, he had no choice but to address Liam so. He was now his new boss after all.

“Yes." Liam turned to the man, pausing his conversations with Sean.

“I guess you've relayed the information to her." Liam asked and Landon nodded his head and continued.

“Yes, but…”

"But what?” Liam didn't even let him finish before cutting into his words.

Landon swallowed hard, let out a deep sigh and continued. “She wants to have a meeting with you."

“Hmph." Liam let out a dry chuckle. Indeed, Hailey wanted to see him and for what?

After a moment of silence, Liam continued.

“Well, I don't want to see her. The deal is off and there's nothing anyone can do to convince me otherwise, not even her. Now tell her that it's useless coming here."

Landon nodded, turned around and left to relay the news to Hailey who was patiently waiting on the other line.

“I'm sorry Miss Hailey, the boss has refused to see you and there's nothing I can do about it."

"What is his reason for terminating…"

Before Hailey could conclude her question, Landon ended the call and got her so enraged. She was fuming and almost smashed her phone on the ground but restrained herself. If she smashes her phone, she'll have to replace it and that would be an extra expense on her side.

She needed that deal with Aura cosmetics to boost her modeling career. Unfortunately, she had lost the gem that was almost at her reach.

Standing hopelessly and perplexed outside Miranda's restaurant, Hailey pondered on her next line of action.

After a few seconds, she raced back to the restaurant and took hold of her bag. Without saying anything to Tyler or her busy friend, she stormed out of the place and started towards her car. She was going to Aura cosmetics.

By any means, she needed to see this new boss who came from nowhere and canceled her million dollar deal. She wanted to hear his reason for making such an urgent rash decision.

As she drove out of the garage, Hailey glanced through her side mirror and saw Miranda at the door. She was casting her a questioning gaze. Just then, her phone beeped and she saw that it was a message from Miranda.

“What is the matter? Why did you leave in that manner? Did anything bad happen?"

Hailey read the messages and ignored them. She needed to get to Aura cosmetics so it wasn't the time to reply to messages.

While Hailey left the place, Tyler didn't bother and continued eating his food. Hailey means nothing to him.

He was only after Miranda and that's his sole mission.

Seeing that Miranda was worried about her friend, Tyler decided to speak with her.

“Mira, please sit with me.” He said to her while pointing at the empty seat before him.

Miranda sighed deeply and reluctantly went ahead to help herself to the seat. However, her mind was not at the place.

Something was definitely wrong with Hailey and she was not picking up her phone.

“Relax, ok? Worrying about your friend won't solve anything.”

Miranda forced a smile at him while nodding her head. “Yeah, you're right. I'll try and find out later what the problem is with her.”

"That's exactly what you should do." Tyler agreed with her, a wide smile plastered on his face.

He wanted to say something but Miranda spoke first. It was an opportunity for her to clarify something.

The dress she was putting on was one of the gifts she got the previous day from an anonymous person. If it was indeed from Tyler, he'd have seen it on her and said something about it. However, all he did was watch her in admiration without saying anything.

“I… uh, I want to find out if the gifts I got yesterday were from you. Tell me Tyler, did you send this dress as well as two others, and the jewelry over to me?”

With jaws dropped, Tyler's eyes darted to her neck and he saw the jewelry. It was very beautiful but certainly not from him. Tyler was also sure that it didn't come from her wretched husband.

It meant that some rich guy was also after her, just like him. He was surely going to find out who the person was.

With a wide grin on his face, he nodded his head at her and took the glory.

“Yes, I got them for you. Do you like them?”
