Chapter 12

Not long after Miranda got to her diner, Hailey walked into the place and helped herself to a seat while waiting for her friend. It was still the morning rush hour so Miranda and her girls had to attend to customers first.

Miranda was going to have time for her friend when the rush hour was over.

The next one hour, the rush was finally over and she was able to walk up to her friend.

“Hi Hailey, I'm sorry for leaving you all by yourself. So tell me, what's going on?" Miranda said with a broad smile on her face. She was very happy and her friend could see it on her face.

“Wow! Someone seems to be in a very high spirit this morning. Tell me what happened. Come on, spill the beans."

“Did Tyler get you a contract for this diner?"

Miranda's smile suddenly disappeared from her face at Hailey's question. All she always talked about was Tyler.

With furrowed brows, she replied to Hailey.

“No. I haven't seen him since after he left this place the previous day. I'm just happy about something else."

She let out a deep sigh and continued. “And you, why do you have to always bring up Tyler at every one of our conversations? Does the world revolve around him?"

“Seriously, I think you're in love with him and I'd advise that you go for him if that's the case." Miranda suggested and winked at her friend who was gaping at her.

“Really? Is that what you have to say?”

"Yeah. With the way you talk about him all the time, it's obvious that you like him.” Miranda continued, a broad smile plastered on her face.

“Well, I wish he could look my way.” Hailey shook her head several times.

"Obviously, he's obsessed with you and would not even notice me. It's so ironic that he is obsessed with someone who's not ready to give him a chance because of a good-for-nothing husband.”

“That's enough, Hailey. Enough with the name calling, Liam is still my husband and it's unfortunate that my friends don't like him."

“Please, will you not call him names anymore." Miranda demanded and her friend rolled her eyes.

“Whatever. But all I know is that I won't stop preaching about Tyler. I hope it won't be too late when you realize how much he truly loved you."

Miranda didn't reply to her friend's last words.

"Have you had breakfast?” She suddenly asked and Hailey gave her questioning look.

"Really? What's the time on your phone? Do you think I'd not have had breakfast when it's already past 11am?”

Miranda smiled at her and nodded. She remembered that her friend loved to make her own breakfast. As a model, she was careful with what she puts into her body so as not to gain a lot of weight.

Among the friends, Hailey was the most pretty one. Her fine face compliments her slim curvy figure. She was a perfect model and had worked with Allison a few times.

Allison was Miranda's cousin and also a model.

Hailey and Allison never got along and were often in a competition on who was the best model.

“Oh. I totally forgot that you're Hailey, our super model who always watches what she eats just to stay in shape." Miranda teased her and she raised her shoulder in pride.

“You can say that again, Mira. So tell me why you were so happy. Don't even try to lie to me because I know that something brought about that smile and glint in your eyes.”

Miranda chuckled and spoke in a whisper. “I'm so happy because I've just gotten a big deal for my family company, Top notch interiors. I'll be signing the contract tomorrow and will be in charge of the project."

“Wow! That's great news." Hailey was genuinely happy for her friend and stood up to hug her.

“I'm so happy for you.”

"Thank you.” Miranda replied cheerfully and suddenly stopped laughing as she stared into space with her mouth open. She remembered something and turned to ask Hailey.

“I haven't heard from Jane for days now. The last time I saw her was at my grandpa's remembrance.”

"Likewise, I've been calling her but she hasn't been picking any of my calls or replying to my texts.” Hailey replied, concern evident on her face.

"Maybe I'll go and check up on her after my appointment today.” Hailey said.

“It's great that you got the contract. At least, your cousins would stop looking down on you.” She continued.

"Yeah, that's right. I'm so excited right now.” Miranda replied.

“So tell me, how were you able to pull that off? Did you get any help? And, how come they let you represent the company when Piper was there.”

Miranda rolled her eyes at the mention of Piper's name. " Well, she didn't get it so Liam asked me to go for it. He even helped me work on the designs which were accepted by LR.”

"What does Liam possibly know about interior designs?” Hailey scoffed, a mocking sneer on her face. When she turned her face around, her gaze met with a handsome young man who walked into the diner. It was Tyler.

With a glint in her eyes and a bright smile on her face, Hailey greeted Tyler as soon as he walked up to them.

“Hey, Tyler. You're here. We were just talking about you."

“Hi Hailey." Tyler greeted back and quickly directed his gaze on Miranda. She was the main reason he came to the place.

“Hi, Mira. How are you doing?”

Miranda pursed her lips and nodded at him. "I'm doing great, thank you for your concern.”

"So tell me, what brings you to my diner?”

"I came to have lunch.”

It was not yet lunch break but he just wanted to see Miranda.

Although Tyler was the CEO of Graham five star hotels, he preferred to eat at Miranda's restaurant just to spend time with her. He could choose to eat from the dishes at their hotel, but he wouldn't do that because of Miranda.

He believed that her food tasted better, even though they were simple dishes. Well, Miranda was great at cooking and had won the hearts of many of her customers. Her girls had also learned the secret of her delicious meals and one could not tell the difference in their meals.

“I want you to prepare your best dish for me. Anything is fine.” Tyler said as he went and sat down on a seat. He knew all the dishes prepared at the diner and was not allergic to any. It was the reason he confidently asked Miranda for any dish.

Miranda turned to her friend who suddenly received an important call that got her racing outside.
