Chapter 11

"Liam? What are you doing here?” Landon was the first to speak. Turning to the young lady, he said to her,

“You can leave now.”

"Mr. Liam?” Rogers added, stunned. He gaped at the scarred young man standing before him and to Sean who was seated comfortably on a swivel chair, wearing a serious look.

“Is he the one who you referred to as Mr. Sawyer?” Rogers directed the question to Sean and he nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah, that's Mr. Sawyer who just acquired Aura cosmetics.” Sean replied while putting on a smile.

“What?" Landon froze where he sat. He could not believe his eyes nor what he just heard.

Liam used to be a manager at Aura cosmetics and worked under him. He had to fire him after he had the accident that caused the scar on his face.

Being a beauty company, they could not have a manager who does not represent their products. So they had to lay him off without thinking twice and with no compensation.

"Yes, it is me. It's indeed a good thing that you still remember my face.”

With a wide grin on his face, Liam crossed his arms around his chest and went to sit down on an empty seat.

"We meet again, Mr. Landon."

Turning to face the man who was selling off his company to him, Liam nodded his head. "It's good to meet you again, Mr. Rogers.”

Being the owner of the company, Rogers knew Liam, his manager and the accident he encountered. However, he turned his face away and asked Landon to sack him and without any compensation.

"Liam, how is it possible…"

“That I suddenly have the money to purchase your company." Liam helped the man complete the words. Indeed, it was what Rogers wanted to say.

“Um, I… Actually…” Rogers stuttered but Liam let out a dry chuckle.

"Why are you suddenly so uneasy? I know that you did me wrong. However, you have nothing to worry about.”

Liam turned to Landon and said mockingly. “It's the one who's going to be at my mercy that should be worried.”

Landon understood his point and swallowed hard while seriously sweating under an air conditioned room. He was the CEO of Aura cosmetics and now the man he sacked was the owner. Which automatically meant that he'd be working under Liam.

How ironic. Indeed, life can be unpredictable.

Landon was about to start apologizing but was interrupted by Liam's words.

“Without wasting anymore of our precious time, let's get to business."

"Yeah, right.” Rogers agreed and brought out the documents for Liam to sign. He was about to pass them over to the man but decided to pause.

He was still confused and needed some clarification.

"Liam, are you in any way related to Mr. Richard Sawyers, the richest man in Dublin city?”

Liam let out a dry chuckle, glanced at Sean and returned his gaze back to Rogers before replying.

“What do you think?"

He smacked his lips and continued. “I hope you're not expecting me to answer that question. It's left for you to find out for yourself."

“Or is it a requirement for signing the documents?"

“Oh, No no. I'm just curious." Rogers replied immediately.

“Just go on with the signing." Rogers said awkwardly and directed his gaze to Landon who was still sitting speechlessly at the place.

“Good then."

A while later, Liam had imprinted his signature on all the needed places and Aura cosmetics now belonged to him.

Standing up, Rogers made his way to where Liam sat and stretched out his hands for a handshake. Liam, on the other hand, stood up and received the handshake.

"Congratulations, Mr. Liam. It was nice doing business with you."

With a wide smile on his face and a glint in his eyes, Liam nodded his head. “Thank you Mr. Rogers. It's nice doing business with you too."

Without another word, Rogers scanned the hall and went to where his former CEO, Landon sat. Placing a hand on the man's shoulder, he said to him.

“Good luck working with your new boss."

With that, he made his way out of the hall, leaving Mr. Landon to his fate.

The hall remained quiet for a while after Rogers left the place. However, Liam decided to break the awkward silence between them.

“Mr. Landon, won't you congratulate your new boss?"

Taken aback by the question, the man nodded his head and uttered nervously. “Congratulations Mr. Liam. Welcome on board.”

Liam scoffed and nodded his head a few times.

“So, Is that how you're going to welcome your new boss?"

The other men were rather surprised at Liam's words. They could not comprehend what Liam meant by what he just said.

Confused, Landon was about to ask him a question but decided against it. He stood up from his chair and made his way to where Liam sat.

Stretching out his hands, he reached for a handshake and Liam returned it.

“Congratulations Boss, I look forward to working with you and promise to do my best to take this company to its peak.”

"Thank you.” Liam nodded his head and stared at the man for a while before instructing him.

"I need to see all ongoing projects and all the models signed to each product. Including the ones who are yet to sign with us."

Landon nodded his head and hurried to his office to get everything his new boss needed.

The next minute, Liam was going through the computer before him and a pile of files. He kept nodding his head while going through it.

Aura cosmetics was still at the top in the market and he wanted it to remain that way.

While he was still going through everything, he stumbled upon something and lifted his head, surprise evident on his face.

“Is everything alright, boss?" Sean asked him and went to find out what the problem was.

“No. Everything is not alright." Liam replied with his gaze still fixed on the computer. He called out to Landon and pointed at the picture on the screen before him.

“Who is she and what business does she have with Aura cosmetics?”
