At that moment, Liam's eyes flew wide open and his jaws dropped. “Is that you, Mr Bruce?”
Although Liam didn't grow up at home, he could easily recognize the voice of his father's butler. The man often calls him when he was still living with his late Aunt. Unfortunately, the last call he got from Bruce was a distressing one.
His father suddenly went missing and Bruce asked him not to go home yet. He was afraid that the people who kidnapped his father might come after him. Bruce's plan was to find Richard Sawyer before calling Liam home.
“Yeah, it's me, Bruce. Your father has asked me to call you to come back home.”
“What really happened to him and how did you find him?” Liam was curious and kept throwing questions at the man.
“You need to calm down, young master. Your father is resting right now and will explain everything to you when you come around tomorrow.” The man replied to him with a voice that conveys his high spirit. He must be so elated to finally see his boss come back in one piece.
Since Liam's Uncle and his family took over everything in Richard's absence, Bruce went back to his house while looking for ways to find his boss.
The people who kidnapped Richard Sawyer never called to ask for ransom so Bruce suspected that it must be a conspiracy from David Sawyer, Richard's only brother. Unfortunately, they could not trace anything to him.
David, on the other hand, pretended to be helping in searching for his brother.
“Oh. Ok…” Liam replied, his voice unsteady and his expression evidence of a confused person. However, he decided to find out what had really transpired when he got back home.
The Westons have no idea who he was and it was obviously time to teach every of his offenders a big lesson. It was time for him to go home and take his rightful place as his father's only heir.
After the death of his mother, Richard Sawyer had sent him away at a tender age to live with his Aunt like a commoner and learn some life lessons before going back home to take his place.
Lost in his thoughts, Liam was jolted back to reality by a heavy knock on the door, followed by a scolding from a voice he recognized as that of his mother in-law.
“What are you doing in there when you should be out here attending to the guests? Come out and make yourself useful, you are just a good for nothing man.”
Although he was offended by Patricia Weston's hurtful words, Liam didn't reply back and quietly opened the door.
“I thought you people didn't want me out there because of my outfit?” Liam spoke calmly but got a disdainful look from the woman.
“Go out there and attend to our guests now.” Patricia ordered, her voice commanding.
Without another word, Liam obeyed his mother in-law. However, that would be the last time he'd let himself be demeaned by anyone.
“Over here, waiter.” Tyler gave him a mocking smile as he picked up a drink from the tray on Liam's hand.
“I think this waiting job suits you. I know that the face scares people away, but I don't think there's anything they can do about it. A man like you is gotta survive.”
Tyler Graham was a rich guy chasing after his wife and the Westons approved of him for Miranda. Because of Tyler, his parents in-laws have been pestering him to divorce their daughter.
All he knew was that he'd never ask Miranda for a divorce. However, if she wants out, he won't hold back even though it'll hurt him because he loved her dearly.
Liam watched in silence as Tyler made his way towards where his wife was standing.
Miranda also greeted him with a nod. She was aware of his intentions towards her but was not really interested in him. Miranda only had a good relationship with Tyler because of her family. Moreover, she didn't want to get on her parents' nerves by pushing Tyler completely away.
Lifting up his right hand, Tyler reached for her face and tried to help her tuck in some strands of her hair. However, before he could touch her, a large hand grabbed his hand, stopping him from achieving the act.
With a ruffled face, Tyler turned his face and saw that it was Liam holding his hand.
“Don't you dare lay a finger on my wife again. I'm certain that there are many single ladies in this town, why won't you pick one of them?”
“How can you be going after someone else's wife? Have you no shame?”
Liam was furious and angrily shoved the man's hand away. His action also infuriated Tyler and he reached out to give Liam a slap but the latter caught his hand.
In retaliation, Liam punched Tyler's face and their little ruckus attracted the attention of everyone present at the place.
“Liam, what has gotten into you? When did you become this violent?”
Miranda, who was the reason for the conflict among the men, angrily scolded her husband.
Taking the chance, Tyler closed in on Liam but two men held him back. They were Liam's father in-law and Kimberly's husband, Bernard.
“You're bringing yourself down by trying to get your hands dirty. Someone of your status shouldn't be seen engaging in a combat with him. You can get someone else to do the job for you.” Bernard advised while Eric Weston supported him.
“Don't you worry yourself, Tyler. I'll make sure that the leech leaves my daughter alone.” Eric added. Although he was Miranda's father, he was not as active as his wife who was a fiesty person.
“You'll regret punching someone like me. I promise you.” Tyler gave Liam a death stare before pulling out of the men's grip. Angrily, he stormed out of the place but was halted by Patricia's voice.
“Tyler, wait. Don't leave yet.”
In a very confused state, the people's attention was now divided. Some were staring at Tyler and Liam while others were curious to know what Patricia was going to do.
Swiftly, the woman raced towards Liam and gave him a resounding slap that caught him unawares.
“How dare you lay your hands on my worthy future son in-law? What gave you the nerve?”
Although Liam had taken a lot of insults from her in-laws, none of them had physically abused him. He still could not believe that his mother in-law gave him a slap because of Tyler and before everyone.
With his left hand massaging his cheeks, Liam saw his wife's disapproving look. She wasn't happy about that slap. While everyone else was happy about the slapping sight, Miranda scolded her mother.
“Mom, you didn't have to slap him. He's still my husband, remember.”
Without casting a glance at her daughter, Patricia spoke in a disgusting manner. “This is not how a husband should be.”
“Liam, you're going to apologize to Tyler now.”
With his left hand still on his cheek, Liam let out a dry chuckle and turned to see Tyler sneering at him.“Go on and apologize.”As his face scanned all the faces around, Liam could see their disappointed looks. No one seems to be on his side. Lady Mary was staring at him as though she wanted to kill him with her eyes. Liam could also see Kimberly giving him a dirty look. His cousins in-law and their parents were at a place laughing over the whole matter. At that moment, the atmosphere at the place was very tense.“It's ok, I'll apologize on his behalf.” Miranda's words cut through the tense atmosphere and she could see many disappointed gazes.“What?” Patricia was more disappointed in her younger daughter.“Mira, come on. Let him apologize for his misdeeds.” Hailey's voice was heard as she tried to stop her friend from standing up for her husband.“Yes, stop tolerating his excesses. Let him apologize. Remember Tyler had promised to help you in your business. If your worthless husband
Liam paused his words and stared at his father's face as if searching for something. When he saw the amazement in it, he continued.“I'm a live-in son-in-law and won't be coming home yet. My wife is good to me but my in-laws are the worst people ever. I really want to teach them a little lesson before revealing my identity to them.”“And I also want to know if my wife will fall in love with me.”Richard let out a chuckle and nodded in understanding. “What's their family name?”“They are the Westons and it was the late Ryan Weston who got me married to his granddaughter because I saved his life. Although I agreed to the marriage because I fell in love with the young lady in question.” Liam explained and saw that his father was silent. After a long pause, the man responded. “Ryan Weston was a good man. Well, I'll leave you to do your thing.”Richard made his way to the door. “Everything I own is yours and I'm sure you'll expand them. Make your Dad proud.”“Sure Dad. Thank you for your u
Patricia's voice halted Liam but Lady Mary decided to wave it off. It was important for them to hastily start the meeting.“It's ok Tricia, let them go and have their seats. We don't have much time now.”Liam already knew the reason for that urgent meeting. He also promised to always stand by his wife no matter what.“Settle down everyone.” Lady Mary cleared her throat, she casted Liam and Miranda one last glance before starting.“I'm sure that some of us already know about the LR latest project. It's a very huge estate and would certainly help our company achieve greater heights if we secure the deal.”Lady Mary paused for a while and scanned the faces of everyone present. When she was sure that all their attention was on her, she continued.“From what I've gathered, Navey interiors is trying really hard to secure this deal and we won't let that happen. All hands should be on deck as we work towards achieving this milestone.”Turning to Piper, Miranda's older cousin, who was Lady Ma
The voice belonged to Jane, one of Miranda's friends who's a banker in Diamond bank. Jane would never pass on the opportunity to throw shades at him and demean him. Countless times she has told her friend to divorce Liam but Miranda wouldn't listen.“Look, Jane or whatever it is that you call yourself. Don't you ever call me names again or you'll regret it.” Liam could no longer take the insults and had to tell her off.But since they were not yet inside the banking hall, Jane decided not to let him in.“It's best that you go back home because no one will attend to you. Not when they find out that your account probably contains only a few hundred dollars.”“Ma'am, do you know this man? Is there a problem here?” The security guard who had been listening to their conversations decided to find out what was going on.“Yes, I know him and it's such a shame.” Jane snorted coldly with a sneer on her face.Turning to the guard, she instructed him. “Escort him to the door, someone like him is
Meanwhile, Liam watched in delight, the sad look on Piper's face. He was seeing them from the CCTV footage. Soon, Piper began to walk away in disappointment. Perhaps, she was expecting that she'd easily get the deal because she was Piper Weston. The precious granddaughter of the Weston family. When Piper left, Liam decided to go through the media and saw that Aura cosmetics was putting the company up for sale.“Wow! This is great.” He muttered to himself. He was going to acquire the company if its sale was legit indeed. Liam put a call across to Sean and the next minute, he appeared before him.“You called me, Sir.”Liam nodded his head and without lifting it up, he said to the man standing before him. “Aura cosmetics is selling the company and from what I gathered, the owner wants to leave the country for good and doesn't want to have any company here in Dublin.”“And they seem to be doing well. No scandal, no financial crisis.”Liam lifted his head and gave Sean a serious look. “Fin
Miranda swallowed hard and gaped at her husband.“How can you be so sure?” She asked, confusion evident on her face.“Tyler might be able to afford those but won't be able to give it out as a gift. His company would go bankrupt if he does.”Liam's response made her more confused. What was he talking about? She was about to ask him another question when her phone began to ring. It was Lady Mary.Seeing the identity of the caller, a gasp escaped her mouth and she lifted her phone to show her husband.“Go on, pick it up.”While Miranda wondered what the lady was calling her for, she quickly picked up the call.“Lady Mary.”The old lady had instructed them not to call her anything else but ‘Lady Mary’. “Miranda.” The old lady called out in a solemn voice. She was clearly speaking like she was being forced.More than anything, she wanted them to sign the LR deal and for Piper to be the one who wears the crown of glory as the person to pull off the deal.“Yes, Lady Mary.” Miranda replied c
Outside LR real estate company, Miranda stood there scrolling through her phone. She was looking for Lady Mary's number. When she finally found it, she dialed it and it rang several times. However, no one picked up.She tried it again and again but the old lady didn't answer her call. This got Miranda worried and she decided to call one of her cousins. Piper picked up her phone almost immediately. “What is it?" She spoke in a harsh voice and Miranda could tell that she was angry.“Piper, I uh… I've been trying to reach Lady Mary but she isn't picking up. Go and check if she's doing alright.”Her cousins and their parents lived with the old lady at the family villa. “Hmph." Piper scoffed at her and replied sarcastically. “So you know no one else to send that errand of yours and decided to send me, your new servant."“Moreover, why the hell are you calling Lady Mary? If it's so urgent, why don't you go to the villa and check her up, dear caring Mira."Piper angrily ended the call even
"Liam? What are you doing here?” Landon was the first to speak. Turning to the young lady, he said to her,“You can leave now.”"Mr. Liam?” Rogers added, stunned. He gaped at the scarred young man standing before him and to Sean who was seated comfortably on a swivel chair, wearing a serious look.“Is he the one who you referred to as Mr. Sawyer?” Rogers directed the question to Sean and he nodded his head in agreement."Yeah, that's Mr. Sawyer who just acquired Aura cosmetics.” Sean replied while putting on a smile.“What?" Landon froze where he sat. He could not believe his eyes nor what he just heard.Liam used to be a manager at Aura cosmetics and worked under him. He had to fire him after he had the accident that caused the scar on his face.Being a beauty company, they could not have a manager who does not represent their products. So they had to lay him off without thinking twice and with no compensation."Yes, it is me. It's indeed a good thing that you still remember my face.
