Chapter 5: Helicopters Approaching!

"No. Annabel!!!" Angelo shouted in shock, "Please, don't hurt her, just let her go. I beg of you." His pleading fell on deaf ears.

Angelo's heart pounded as he rushed toward his sister. Confusion etched his face as he approached her, intent on shielding her from them. Before he could move any further or utter another word, Dirty Dog's fist struck with lightning speed, sending Angelo sprawling to the ground, his body wracked with pain.

Don Romero, his interest piqued by the sight of Angelo's sister, issued a chilling order.

"Bring her along. We'll auction her to my rich friends."

Angelo, grappling with the agony from the beating, attempted to rise and voice his protest. Yet, Dirty Dog relentlessly enforced his menacing reputation, delivering blows that left Angelo gasping for breath.

Helpless and battered, Angelo lay there as Don Romero seized both his sister and his wife on the same day. It was a brutal display of power, a stark reminder of his powerlessness against the ruthless Mafia Lords of Sicily and Italy. In this world governed by crime, survival hinged on amassing power to counter those who played puppeteers with lives.

"When in Rome, behave like the Romans," Angelo mused, reflecting on the harsh reality of Italy—a realm controlled by mafias, where freedom and security rested on the pillars of power, money, and influence. The government itself was entwined with criminal elements, puppets manipulated by Mafia oligarchs like Don Romero.

Angelo, already mourning the loss of his friend Cortez and his wife, now faced the imminent loss of his sister. The anguish deepened as he pondered the impending threat to his life by the notorious Dirty Dog, a merciless enforcer of men like Don Romero. Justice was a concept lost in the shadows, leaving Angelo with a grim realization of the world he inhabited.

Faced with such dire circumstances, Angelo contemplated a drastic measure—playing a card he never anticipated revealing so soon. As he retrieved a small device from his pocket, Dirty Dog took a brief respite, preparing to resume his assault on Angelo.

With the device in hand, Angelo pressed the button on it before succumbing to unconsciousness.

With no ounce of concern for their daughter's true happiness, they saw the removal of Angelo as a stepping stone to Trisha marrying Don Romero—an alliance that promised power, influence, and political success for Baron Rodriguez.

Baron's political ambitions hinged on the impending marriage, a union that would elevate the Rodriguez family to feared status all across Sicily. The pact with Don Romero, made at the expense of Angelo's life and that of those he cared about, underlined the ruthlessness of these men in their pursuit of power.

But what power does Angelo have against them? He is just like everyone else in Sicily and Italy who are powerless against the tyranny of these evil and corrupt men. To these men, people like Angelo are nothing but pesky bugs that must be dealt with, and to their success yet again, Angelo had become their scapegoat.

Trisha's parents, basking in their successful scheme to oust Angelo, demanded that he be removed from their house.

"Get this deadman away from my living room, I don't want his poisonous blood contaminating this property."

"Get him up and take him to the van." Dirty Dog swiftly ordered his men to drag Angelo outside for the final act in their sinister plan. A kill van awaited, ready to dispose of Angelo's body once Dirty Dog drains the life out of it.

However, as the men moved Angelo towards the van, they heard sounds that made them halt their acts looking towards where the sound was coming from.

"What's that?"

"Are those helicopters approaching?" One man asked his fellows.

"Yeah, maybe the Don is coming back for something or just passing." Another replied to the man who enquired about the helicopters.

"Get this man into the van before Don Romero gets here." Dirty Dog ordered the men.

"Boss, I think we should hold a bit, something's not right." The men carrying Angelo objected to Dirty Dog's instructions as they could see the helicopters a bit clearer.

Confusion and fear gripped the air as the unidentified helicopters drew nearer. Baron and his wife, alarmed by the unexpected intrusion, rushed out to confirm what was going on, wondering if Don Romero had returned unexpectedly.

The menacing sight of six battleship helicopters escorting a luxurious private helicopter left everyone questioning.

"This is not Don Romero, who is this?"

Amidst the chaos, the branding on the transport helicopter revealed a name that sent shivers down their spines.

ANGELS.

Dirty Dog and his men dropped Angelo, scrambling into their van to escape. Before they could reach the gate, a fleet of heavy armored combat vehicles crashed through, securing the perimeter with military precision. Chaos ensued as one of the vehicles targeted the van, flipping it upside down.

With the compound surrounded by armored vehicles and a hundred armed men, three battleship helicopters landed with the private helicopter, and the private helicopter's doors opened. The Rodriguezs and their men, recognizing the name on the helicopters, bowed in acknowledgment, a name that had become a tale of myth and legend in all of Italy.

Over 20 armed men disembarked from the helicopters, joining the formidable armed presence on the ground. As the private helicopter's doors swung open, a huge six-foot-three man exuding wealth and power emerged, flanked by six elite security details. The armed men formed a path for him through to Angelo. They saluted him as he walked through them with his security details towards Angelo.

Finally stopping five feet from Angelo, he spoke out words that echoed with authority, shaking the foundations of the Rodriguezs and their cohorts.

"MASTER, WE HAVE COME AT YOUR REQUEST."

The armed men saluted, and a resounding shout followed,

"ALL HAIL THE GREAT ANGELO BRUNO, THE GENTLE DON. KING OF THE KINGDOM OF ANGELS."
