The Secret Billionaire Son-in-law

Chapter 6

Madam Emily rolled her eyes at him as she watched him strode upstairs. 

“ What a worthless son-in-law he is, others are buying the best designers for their wives and he comes back home with a replica and expected to be showered with praises”.

“ Mother, that is enough, at least he made an effort”.

“ You cannot wear that anywhere at all, give it to me, or I will have to discard it”.

“ I am sorry Mom, but it is the first gift I ever got from my husband, I am not throwing it away, besides, the mask looks kind of cute”. 

 She expressed with a soft chuckle but Emily ignored her. 

Back in the kitchen, Harry was carefully preparing dinner when Lisa walked in, he had just his pants on, and his broad chiseled chest was left bare. 

“ How are you doing? ”. She asked while standing at the entrance of the kitchen, he did not notice her come in and was almost startled as soon as she spoke. 

“ I am fine, do you need me to do anything for you? ”.

“ Not at all, I was just wondering, I saw a few blood stains on your shirt when you came back, were you injured? ”.

“ No, that was not my blood, a child was involved in an accident on my way back home, and I had to rush her to the hospital before contacting her parent, that was the more reason I was late”.

“ Oh! I see… And how is the child? ”.

“ Just a few bruises, she will be fine”.

“ That is a relief, I got an invite from Bryn Empire, I think it is a welcome party for their new CEO”.

“ Are you going there alone? ”.

“ I got just one invite, so I am not sure if I should take a plus one to an event like this, besides I will be meeting the manager of the company and maybe signing the necessary documents”.

“ That is a relief to know ”.

“ Regarding what my mother said earlier, I think she is right, you will have to stop whatever it is you do at the factory and stay at home, it is of no essence for you to work while I am the one providing everything including your allowance”.

“ But I was hoping to go find a job tomorrow, maybe get something better”.

“ There isn't anything better than someone as you can find, don't argue with me, and just do as you are told”.  She yelled at him. 

“ Okay”. He replied calmly and she strides out of the kitchen not saying another word to him. 

Once he was through with dinner, he set the table and invited the entire family while he went back to the kitchen to have his meal. 

The next day, Lisa left early for work and did not realize that Harry also left home but without his bike. She spent the entire day creating a new design that would impress the manager of Bryn Empire. 

Lisa knew that samples of her designs would be requested at the party, so she was hoping to be prepared when she got there. 

Once they arrived back home, Harry had prepared dinner and set out the dress he bought for her the previous day. 

“ I am not wearing a replica dress to a party filled with billionaires, I will be mocked at”.She replied as soon as she saw that he had set aside the dress for her.

“ But you said it yourself that it looks like the original, just because they are wealthy doesn't imply that they can differentiate between the two ”.

“ Still yet, I wouldn't want to embarrass myself on a first day at such an event”.

“ Okay! ”. He replied and left the room, she could see a flash of disappointment as he left the room and felt sympathy for him. 

The other day, he had purchased flowers for her but instead of a gratitude, he had met something else when he got back home and today, she wasn't sure she wanted to disappoint him again. 

Just then, the doorbell rang and Harry scurried down to the door, he twisted the large door frame and stood before him was Hayley, Lisa's best friend. 

“ Good day, ma'am”. He greeted politely although they were both aware that he was much older than her. 

“ Pull off my shoes! ” She commanded. 

“ Yes, ma'am”. Harry replied and Crouched down to pull out her shoes, but Lisa stepped in and was suddenly furious. 

“ What the hell is going on! ”. She yelled out at him. 

“ I am sorry, but she asked that I help her with her shoes”.

“Don't do ever, I am the only woman you are permitted to touch her feet, not even my mother should give you such an Order and you would comply”.

“ Yes, ma”.

“ Hayley, I do believe that you are fully capable of pulling out your shoes, my husband is not your errand boy”.

“ But he is your errand boy, why can't he mine too”.

“ Because he is mine! ”. Lisa glared at Hayley as she spoke, and Hayley understood that she had to back down. 

“ Alright, you've marked your territory, now why am I here? ”.

“ Because I am going to the party of the century and I need to be at my best, Come with me”. Lisa Scurried upstairs with Hayley trailing behind. 

“ I am sure you must have heard that I landed a deal with Bryn Empire”.

“Of course! Who hasn't heard, everyone thinks you are now a big shot”.

“ I am because I was invited to a party at their club”.

“ What! How is that even possible? ”.

“ I guess my proposal was too good that they couldn't ignore”.

“ That is a good one to go dear, congrats”.

“ Thanks, so I need you to glam me up with perfect makeup”.

“ Of course, that is my specialty, but where is your brother, I don't see him anywhere?”.

“ I sent him on a business trip for the supply of new fabrics”.

“ I see…. ”.

“Don't you think that it is high time you expressed your feelings to him? ”.

“ He hasn't given me the green light, I need that green light so that I do not get rejected”.

“ Best of luck with that, now over to my makeup”.

 Hayley placed her makeup box on the table and carefully pulled out some items required before she commenced the makeup.

By the time she was through, Lisa was all slammed up, her hair parted sideways and knotted at the edge.

Lisa arrived at the party looking tensed, she finally decided to wear the dress Harry bought, but halfway through the party, she began to have some doubts but decided to go with the flow. 

As she stepped into the most beautiful arena she had ever been to, the place was dimmed with bright lightning, flowers surrounded each table with red carpet and petals. 

There were waiters and waitresses all in a black and white uniforms parading around with several varieties of wine trays.

The fragrance blossomed around the entire place, there were a few security at the check who requested her invite, and after submitting it to them, she strode in and occupied an empty table. 

Everyone at the party was dressed in expensive clothes but had their faces covered in a mask. 

A lady walked past her and suddenly stopped at her table, her eyes darted around Lisa with a hint of approval and admiration. 

“ A Hilton design, wow were you able to get your hands on it”. A dark skin lady in her early forties asked her, Lisa bit her lips nervously not sure how she was going to explain to the lady that it was a replica. 

“ I am sorry Ma, but this is the replica of the real deal”. She explained, not wanting to flaunt a fake life. 

The lady giggled before trailing her fingers around the edge of the dress. 

“ Are you kidding me, this is the original piece of the Hilton gown of the 2022 edition. There were only two pieces and I tried getting my hands on the last one, but couldn't”.

 Lisa widened her eyes, her lips quivered as she tried to speak. 

“ If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase the dress, did you order it directly from the Hilton website? ”.

“ I don't know, it was a gift from my husband”. She explained trying not to sound like she was bragging, but it still came out that way. 

“ Oh! Lucky you, he must be super rich and influential to be able to get his hand on this piece, I am Carmel Nicholas”.

“ I am Lisa Carrion”.

“ Nice chatting with you Lisa, hope to see you some other time”.

“ yeah, me too”. She widened her lips into a smile as she watched the lady join another table, she was feeling a bit less nervous now. 

But just then, a couple stepped in with their arms clasped together, they felt so familiar to her, not until the lady pulled her mask, that it was Lilly. 

“ Lilly, what are you doing here? ”. Lisa asked also pulling over her mask so that her face was visible. 

“ What the fuck! How in the world are you here? ”.

Lilly trails her down from head to toe and only manages to stop herself from rolling her eyes at her. 

“ I was invited by the company”. Lisa replied calmly. 

“ I heard you got a contract from Bryn Empire, how many d*cks did you have to suck to get it? ”. Lilly threw at her and Charles let out a silly chuckle, their eyes not averting away from the dress she wore that glittered so much.

“ Look Lilly, this is a private party and I wouldn't want to banter words with you, I am here for a purpose and that is what I aim to achieve”.

“ Oh, look at you feeling all high and mighty, did you know that you got the contract as a result of my connection to the president and I could gladly take it away from you”.

“ If that was the case, then I think it would have been your father who got it and not me, so if you don't mind could you step away from here”.

 Lilly tightened her jaws, trying to hide the rage she was feeling, but it only got worse when Lisa tried to walk out on them. 

She picked a glass of wine from the table and poured it out on Lisa ruining her dress. There were profound gasps that erupted throughout the entire place as all attention was directed at them. 

Lisa felt bad not because it was the first time she was humiliated by her cousin who thought she was so perfect, but because the dress was a gift from her husband, and it was the first she had ever received from him.

Lisa filled with rage, picked up the next glass of wine and poured it out on her, Charles feeling contempt for this woman instantly lifted his hand to hit her but was stopped by another masculine arm that held his hand right in the air.

“ You wouldn't dare lay a finger on her”. His voice was so dark, deep, and hoarse that it sent shivers down their spine, but somehow Lisa felt the voice sounded familiar. 

“ This is a family issue and if I were you, I wouldn't interrupt”. Charles replied gazing at the eyes covered with a mask. 

The figure was so tall and wore a black branded suit that was worth more than twenty million dollars, his aura was an intimidating one and Charles hated being intimidated by anyone of status. 

“ If this is a family issue, then don't you think that it should be resolved at home, because you all seem to be distracting my party”. He spoke as he released Charles from his grip, standing elegantly next to Lisa. 

“ Your party? ”. Lilly and Charles both asked in unison and just then, the securities rushed over to bow their heads at him. 

“Mr. President, we are deeply sorry for the disturbance, we will send them out immediately”. They apologize and Lilly pops wide her mouth. 

“Mr. President, you are the new president of the company, I am so sorry, it is so unfortunate that I haven't introduced myself, I am Lilly the number one model for Bryn Empire”.

 She carefully introduced and she smiled curtly. 

“ Are you alright dear? ”. His attention was focused on Lisa who seemed surprised. 

“ Yes, I am fine, thank you, sir". She responded politely. 

“ Would you mind coming with me to get this wiped out? ”.

“ What!! ”. Lisa exclaimed not sure she heard him clearly, the president of the biggest Fashion company was asking her to come with him. 

“ I mean, that is if you don't mind”. Harry exuded again, trying to sound polite. 

“ Yeah, sure! ”. Lisa exclaimed and followed him behind while Charles clenched his fists so tight that they became red. 

The pace of his breathing increased and was filled with so much rage as he stormed out of there and Lilly followed.
