Zayn Raymond

Karyl freed her arms from his grip. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Reeds. Do both of us a favour and leave. You have nothing to prove to me." 

"No, let's humour him," Zayn Raymond said, appearing before them with his glass of whiskey. "I overheard how your husband plans to destroy me." 

Karyl stiffened in shock to find Zayn. "I'm sorry, Mr. Raymond. Have you been listening?" 

"Every single word," Zayn said, keeping a shitty smile on his face. "Hello, Reeds. Fancy seeing you here." 

Zayn reached out for a handshake but Reeds refused to shake his hand. "I don't shake the hands of a scum," Reeds said coldly. 

"Reeds!" Karyl hissed at Reeds. "That's Zayn Raymond you're talking to. Show him some respect." 

"I know who he is," Reeds retorted. "He's a scumbag that wants to bed you. You shouldn't be entertaining guys like him." 

Zayn chuckled as he drew back his hand. "On the contrary, Mr. Reeds Parker. Your wife and I are strictly here on business. We were just about to round up a $3 million deal before you interrupted us. By the way, this is an exclusive bar. How did you manage to get in?" 

Reeds took two steps forward until he was close to Zayn. "I'll give you an answer after you explain what you're doing out late with a married woman, you adulterer!”

Zayn's smirk faltered for a second. He hated how Reeds had figured him out so easily and was calling out on his evil intentions. 

Inorder to save face, Zayn turned to Karyl, feigning anger. "This is preposterous, Karyl Rogers. I understand your husband doesn't like me but for him to accuse me like that? It seems I'll have to drop our deal." 

Karyl faced Reeds, her face burning in anger. "For crying out loud, Reeds. Look at what you've done. You want to ruin my life, don't you?" 

Reeds' lips ran dry. "You're defending him? Can't you see he's trying to seduce you to bed him? He's an adulterer, that's what he is." 

"Enough," Karyl yelled at him. "I can't afford to lose this deal. You're too broke and unemployed to help me." Karyl turned to Zayn and started pleading. "Forget what he said, Mr. Raymond. He doesn't mean it." 

Reeds chimed in. "You don't have to beg that rat for scraps, Karyl. I'll bag you that $5 million order in no time." 

Reeds pulled out his phone and attempted to make a call. As he pressed the call button on the contact he wanted to call, the screen flickered for a moment. 

Then a loud, automated message sounded from his phone. "Sorry, your call service has been temporarily suspended due to insufficient balance. Please recharge to restore your service. Thank you." 

Reeds stared at the screen of his phone in shock as the robotic voice repeated itself. 

"Damn it," he cursed under his breath. 

Zayn burst into laughter. "Wow, that's fresh. You can't even pay your phone bills." 

Embarrassed, Reeds turned to Karyl who covered her face in shame. "Honey, could you help pay for my phone credit? I promise to pay you back." 

Karyl glanced at him sharply. Reeds could see it in her eyes. She was utterly disappointed in him. 

"Is this your plan?" She asked in a broken voice. "To humiliate me before my client?" 

Reeds shook his head. "That's not true. I just need to make a call and the $5 million would be transferred to your account. You won't be needing this bastard." 

"Enough!" Karyl shouted. She brought out her purse and threw a stack of cash at Reed's face. "Take the money and get the hell out of my sight. You've embarrassed me enough." 

Reeds bent to pick up the money, but his expression was now hardened. How could his wife do this to him in front of everyone? 

He dislikes the fact that Zayn stood by the side sneering at him. He dislikes the fact that his wife would rather fight him over a man. 

"Fine, I'll leave," Reeds said. "The $5 million order will be deposited in your company's account within ten minutes. After you've received the alert, come home." 

"That's if I see it which I doubt I will," Karyl said, standing next to Zayn. “Now if you'll excuse me. I must finish my meeting with Mr. Raymond.”

“That's right,” Zayn wrapped his arms around her waist and drew her closer to him, suggesting intimacy and claiming ownership of Karyl. “Get lost, loser.”

“Mr. Raymond, stop it,” Karyl playfully removed his hands from her waist, apparently teasing him. “Not in front of my husband.”

Reeds clenched his fists, deeply hurt by his wife's actions. There was no denying it. From his perspective, his wife was cheating on him with Zayn.

That was totally unforgivable. 

Reeds stared steely into her eyes. "Once the money is transferred, we'll have nothing to do with each other anymore." 

Karyl stiffened in shock. "Wait a minute, you're divorcing me? Over a drink outing with my client?" 

Reeds slide his hands in his pockets. "I'm divorcing you because you betrayed me for a man like Zayn. I wanted to give you a second chance but you blew it." 

"Blew it?" Karyl sneered at him. "You're so full of yourself, Reeds. Who has been feeding you all these years? It's me. I put a roof over our heads and clothes to wear. What have you ever given me? Nothing!" 

Reeds turned away from her. "I'm leaving. Don't take that drink anymore, Karyl. You never know what Zayn slipped inside." 

"Hey, watch your mouth," Zayn barked at Reeds. 

Reeds didn't say anything. He began to walk towards the exit. 

Karyl shouted after him in anger. "Good riddance, Reeds. Let's see how you'll survive without me! You'll starve to death." 

Reeds left the bar.
