10. I have my reasons

Inside the room, Oscar stood in awe, the sight of what now belonged to him was spectacular, no one would reject a life like this, and Mrs Amy did not even give him a chance to say no.

"I'm adopting you today," He recalled what she had said and smiled. He tried to recall if he had any memory of his mother. He closed his eyes and tried to picture what she must have looked like but he couldn't remember anything beyond Pere's house.

"Hmm," He said and sat down by the edge of the bed, he took out his phone and searched for the Slytherin's long-lost son again, and once again those images were shown.

He read through the article again, and a few assumptions from the detective who had been on the case, all while trying to figure out if any of them matched something he could remember, but none.

He was just trying so hard to see if he truly belonged here, but nothing came to his mind.

"I can't let the public know of this yet," He mumbled, unless he was truly their heir, he couldn't let the public start to rejoice over who may not even be related to the Slytherin and to accomplish that, he knew what he had to do.

Accepting his fate, Oscar stood up with a smile and mumbled.

"Oscar Slytherin, I could get used to that."

He walked into the bathroom for a moment and grabbed the towel. But, as soon he remembered that he had nothing to wear afterwards, he decided to wait a bit.

A few minutes passed and someone knocked on the door, he asked whoever it was to come in, and Leo walked into the room with a pyjama in his hand, it was neatly folded and even ironed.

"I'm sorry sir, I could only get this for now. I will make sure that by tomorrow, all your clothes will be available."

"Oh, thank you," Oscar replied with a smile.

"Sorry, what's your name please?" He asked while watching the young man place the clothes on the bed.

"Leo, sir," He replied,

"Leonardo Angus. I'll be your assistant for the time being, please don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything.

"Uhm, I will, thank you very much," Oscar replied.

"One more thing sir," Leo continued after he had kept the clothes,

"I brought these documents, uhm... we sincerely apologise for the impromptu assignment, but we don't have any time left. You don't have to check the papers tonight though, you could do that in the morning, sir."

"What's it about?" Oscar asked, taking the documents from Leo.

"As the acting CEO of the company, we'd love you to be present at the meeting on Thursday. Your mother sir, will explain everything you need to know to you tomorrow, but it will be very helpful if you go through these documents." Leo explained, trying to simplify as much as he could.

"CEO?" Oscar was stunned.

"Yes sir, once again, sorry for the inconvenience, you don't have to do so much after Thursday. Our reasons are quite political, which is why your mother wants you to do it and not someone else."

"I see," Oscar replied, but his mind was screaming with delight.

"I'll leave you to rest for the night sir, further information will subsequently be communicated to you. Goodnight sir." Leo concluded and was about to walk out of the room but Oscar called him back.

"Leo?" He called and the young man turned to face him,

"Can I ask a favour?"

"Sure sir," Leo replied.

"Uhm," Oscar sighed, thinking of the best way to convey his request.

"Is it possible to keep this whole thing a secret from the public? And uhm... delete my picture from the Internet?"

"Oh," Leo was baffled,

"Your mother had instructed me to announce to the organisation that we have an acting CEO, but I can limit the information to a certain group of people, such that it will remain within the organisation. As for the pictures, is there a reason why you want to delete them?" He inquired.

"Yes... it makes me very uncomfortable, I don't think there's any need to still keep the AI image now that I've been found. Right?" He asked, hoping that he had not made the conversation too awkward.

"Uhm... I would see what I can do sir, we need to communicate with the West Arcadian head investigation department, I believe they already know by now that you have been found, so that wouldn't be a difficult task." Leo explained.

"Thank you very much, I will appreciate that, and oh, I will look through the documents like you said."

"Alright sir, have a good night."

"You too, Leo," Oscar retorted and watched Leo walk out of the room, closing the door behind him.

"This is my life now," He uttered and sat down on the edge of the bed with a long sigh and a smile

"Oscar Slytherin," He repeated the name with pride, before looking at the documents.

The first file he picked up contained a list of names, from the title, he could see that this was a list of companies who wished to partner with the Slytherin Empire and were scheduled to have a meeting on Thursday.

Among the list, Oscar saw a name that caused him to frown, a name that brought back memories from earlier, and it was none other than the Hudson enterprise.

"Oh wow," He mumbled with a smirk and quickly picked up his phone.

He scrolled through his contact list and clicked on the name he was looking for. He dialled the number, even though he was aware that it was past eleven pm and whoever it was wouldn't be awake. After the ring, Oscar proceeded to record a voicemail,

"Hello Karen, it's me, Oscar, I want to ask a favour, and please, I would appreciate it if you worked on it as soon as you listened to this, no matter the cost. Now for the favour... I... I want to file for a divorce... I have my reasons."
